Can you afford to sit someone when you only got 10 cars
Last week they had 8 cars; same for street stocks. It was the modifieds that had ten cars. If fans actually had to pay for tickets it would not be much of a show.

I think they learned that from Lake Erie Speedway from what I have heard the last couple of years. But where is lake Erie now???.............only running a couple of races a year!!! Wonder what would happen if a dirt track would try that?? Maybe a track like Pittsburgh with a large grandstand!!
GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

Challenger was very successful running just a handful of big shows a year till a couple brain dead idiots killed the place.I think they learned that from Lake Erie Speedway from what I have heard the last couple of years. Unfortunately giving away tickets is not the answer. Sure they may be making money at the concession stand. But, your expenses also have to go up. Car owners care about purse structure.
Challenger let the parties get way out of control. No doubt it was a person that had way to much to drink. The result was losing a track that had some good racing. They had another big problem with thieves, another issue that was happening on most race nights.

The practice of giving - a - way tickets, filled the stands at Lake Erie Speedway and was very successful. It was the misfortune of dealing with Bill Catania Jr., that drove the Speedway under. At the same time, he took Stateline Speedway, under also.

Awtey cranked the #90 car in turn 3 coming down to take the green on a restart. A week suspension was supposedly handed out. It doesn't matter if you have 5 cars or 25 cars you can't let that behavior be acceptable.
As for the free tickets, they typically draw a pretty decent crowd. By far more than any weekly show on dirt that I've been to. They have to be doing well off concessions and I think it was last year they added beer. What works for some tracks may or may not work for others. If you haven't visited the place I suggest you give it a shot its a really nice facility.
