HOMAK PENN OHIO PRO STOCK CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES RETURNS FOR A SECOND SHOW AT PPMS ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 18TH PAYING $1,000 TO-WIN, $150 TO START!
For Immediate Release
August 13, 2018 (Sandy Lake, PA) Thunder Mountain Speedway was forced to cancel the Homak Penn Ohio Series event for a second time this season due to the weather. The $1,500 to-win Scott Winslow Memorial event has been rescheduled to Friday, September 21st with the hope that “third times a charm”.
In the meantime, racing for the Homak Penn Ohio Series will continue as PPMS hosts the series for a second time this season on Saturday, August 18th. Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway is located at 170 Kelso Road, Imperial, PA. The “Wee” Willie White Memorial event will have qualifying drivers participating in a 20-lap A Main paying $1,000 to-win, $150 to start. If there are over 35 stock cars, a B Feature will be offered paying $250. In addition to the event being a memorial race, drivers will have an opportunity to participate in the tracks autograph night.
The first trip to PPMS for the Series in 2018 was back on June 2nd. Three-time Penn Ohio Point Champion Chris Schneider captured his first-ever Ed Laboon Memorial win. The second event for the Series found Brent Johnson edging Schneider to take home the $10,000 Steel Valley Pro Stock Nationals win at Sharon Speedway. 2017 Point Champion, Bobby Whitling made his way to victory lane at the third series event hosted by The New Stateline Speedway. The sole repeat Series’ winner in 2018 to date is Andrew Gordon who picked up back-to-back Series wins at Tri City Raceway Park on July 15th and Sharon Speedway’s July 28th event.
With only 5 point races completed to date, the point chase is certainly up for grabs and fans will not want to miss Saturday’s “Wee” Willie White event as Homak Penn Ohio drivers battle their way to that Championship. Current point standings have Whitling and Gordon tied in the top spot. Rob Shook sits just one point behind the leaders, followed by three-time Penn Ohio Point Champion Chris Schneider, while Chris McGuire rounds out the top five. The span from 1st to 5th is just 19 points.
The Homak Penn Ohio Series will be charging a $25 registration fee for all drivers participating in the August 18th event. All drivers will be eligible for a Hoosier tire donated by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic/Precise Racing and an American Racer tire donated by Lias Tire. 2018 Homak Penn Ohio Series’ registered members will be eligible for additional contingency prizes donated by various Homak Penn Ohio sponsors including a Homak tool bag, a case of racing oil donated by Les Frickshun, gift certificates donated by Genesis Shocks, Close Racing Products, ARBodies, Precise Racing Products, Big Daddy’s Speed Center, and Wedge Motorsports.
