HOMAK PENN OHIO PRO STOCK SERIES LABOR DAY WEEKEND EVENTS FIND CHRIS SCHNEIDER PICKING UP SERIES' WIN # 2 AT RACEWAY 7, WHILE ANDREW GORDON CAPTURES SERIES' WIN # 3 AT DOG HOLLOW SPEEDWAY!
For Immediate Release
September 4, 2018 (Sandy Lake, PA) The Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series kicked off the Labor Day weekend with the Raceway 7 make-up event on Friday, August 31st, followed by the Connor Bobik Memorial race at Dog Hollow Speedway on Sunday, September 2nd. Both races paid $1,000 to-win and had 34 cars competing in each event.
Capturing wins were three-time Penn Ohio Point Champion, Chris Schneider in his SS Chassis #55 at Raceway 7 and 2017 Penn Ohio “Breakthrough Driver” Andrew Gordon at Dog Hollow Speedway in the Pizza Hut sponsored #25 Ford. Currently Gordon is the only driver to find victory lane 3 times for the Series this season, while Schneider picked up his second win for the Series. Out of seven races for the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series, four different drivers have visited victory lane.
Luke Rutsky and Tim Deutsch brought the 26 car field to the green for the 20 lap Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Feature event at Raceway 7. Deutsch maintained the top spot despite numerous cautions until lap 13 when Schneider captured the lead. With 7 laps to go, Deutsch slipped back to third as Paul Davis wheeled his way into the second spot trying to gain ground on Schneider. A few more cautions gave Davis and Deutsch opportunity to challenge Schneider but the SS Chassis was able to pull away over the remaining laps to park the #55 in victory lane for the $1,000 win. Davis held on to the second spot over Deutsch, Pat Fielding in fourth and Tyler Thompson in fifth. Heat race winners were Deutsch, Paul Schreckengost, Rutsky, and Shaun Hooks. B Main winner was Jeff Broniszewski.
On Sunday, Dog Hollow’s 20 lap main event for the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stocks had Jason Fosnaught and Rusty Martz leading the 26 car field to the green flag. Fosnaught commanded the lead over Martz for the first six laps despite two caution flags. On lap 7, Andrew Gordon found his way from the 8th starting position into the runner up spot. Fosnaught continued his smooth run over Gordon through several restarts due to cautions until lap 15. The remaining 5 laps belonged to the #25 Ford as he pulled away from Fosnaught and the rest of the pack and captured his third Homak Penn Ohio Series win in 2018. Fosnaught maintained the runner up spot at the checker over Martz, Tim Bish finished fourth, and Bobby Whitling finished in fifth. Heat race winners were Whitling, Bill Phillips Jr., Martz, and Gordon. B Main winner was Joe Wrona.
