ANDREW GORDON PICKS UP HIS FIFTH HOMAK PENN OHIO SERIES WIN IN 2018 – SWEEPS MCKEAN COUNTY FAMILY RACEWAY FALL INVITATIONAL FRIDAY & SATURDAY!

For Immediate Release

October 1, 2018 (Sandy Lake, PA) McKean County Family Raceway’s Fall Invitational found 23 stocks participating in Friday’s portion of the event and 30 stocks racing in Saturday’s Penn Ohio Series event.  Finding victory lane both nights to sweep the Fall Invitational was Penn Ohio standout Andrew Gordon in his #25 Ford.  Saturday’s win marked Gordon’s fifth visit to the Homak Penn Ohio victory lane in 2018.

Leigh Wheeler #717 and 2017 Homak Penn Ohio Point Champion, Bobby Whitling #7W, led the 26 car field to the green for the 25 lap feature event.  Wheeler and Whitling entered turn 1 and 2 with Whitling sliding high, allowing Wheeler to get the edge and lead lap 1.  Whitling found the middle groove on lap 2 and made the pass off turn 2 to capture the lead.  Whitling maintained the top spot through lap traffic with Wheeler in tow followed by Paul Davis #3 and Luke RutSky #22R.  The first of four caution flags would fly on lap 14 for a single car spin in turn 1.

The Delaware restart found Whitling in the front with Wheeler and Davis in row 2, Gordon and Rutsky in row 3.  A second caution would quickly fly before completing lap 15, resulting in a single file restart.  Lap 15 found Whitling leading over Wheeler, Davis, Gordon, and Rutsky.  A third caution on lap 15 for a three car pileup in turn 1 and 2 had Rod Laskey #1R exiting to the pits.  The restart found Gordon making the pass on Davis and Wheeler to take the runner up spot on lap 16.  Whitling was pulling away with a sizable lead but found himself dealing with lap traffic around lap 20, allowing Gordon to close the gap.  On lap 23, Gordon used lap traffic to his advantage making the winning pass, and despite one last caution held on for his fifth Homak Penn Ohio Series victory in the 2018 season.  Whitling was second over Davis, John Boardman #777 in fourth, and Wheeler in fifth.  Rounding out the top ten were Chris Schneider #55, Rustky, Chris McGuire #63, Jason Fosnaught #73, and Rob Shook #64.  Heat race winners were Whitling, Schneider, Boardman and Rutsky.  B Main winner was Ted Mascho #88.
