Flash I agree 100%. I miss seeing 20-24 SLM models every week at PPMS too. But Bradish, Cecere, Curry, Stephens, Ferree Sr, Geisler, Miley, Flinner, Atallah, Baker, Banal, M Johnson, Zarin, Kowatic, and Dave Wade aren’t coming back with XR1s anytime soon. So you either adapt or fail. Rush has the highest car counts locally outside Penn Ohio shows so it is what it is.

Everyone talks about the costs of SLM. Well then my question is this. Why does raceway 7, eriez and thunder mtn seemingly do ok with car counts. Granted, lernerville was my Friday night track. Again, the only point I am trying to make is it seems they are doing well.

If some are going to say the crates run there or there letting steel block cars.

If so then in my opinion they are only hurting themselves. Everybody knows about the tires. STUPID. I don't see why the rulebook can't be adjusted.

20 yrs ago you could have full fields in the big 3 divisions. It's time to look at what other tracks are doing to survive.

Actually, as one who is almost always at PPMS, the attendance decline started way before the last models were dropped as a weekly division.  Once again, I would prefer the Supers were still there every Saturday night, but they were getting less than 10 cars for many shows, and since Mike Norris was not a regular the last several years, only Jared Miley or Alex Ferree was going to win every week.  The Crates there now have very strong car counts, and the racing week in and week out is first-rate.

+1. The narrative that the dropping of late models has killed attendance is fake news. Pittsburgh has good racing in the crates, in fact you put a late model like Hodgkiss in with the crates he would not even finish in the top 5. IMO the best 2 shows all year are the Laboon and Jook races. Both draw over 50 cars this year and it goes to show that when you put effort in that you can still have big races at Pittsburgh.

Do they draw enough fans through the front gate?

It would be interesting to see if at each track each race day someone would take a picture of the grandstands before the first feature. They then could post and all could see how well what's being raced atracts fans. Tracks know by ticket sales but a picture is worth a thousand recounts of ticket sales. I can't relate to tickets sold but comparing pictures anyone can do and get an idea of what brings fans through the front gate.

We were told at Sharon that when the sprints are not there the place is about empty.

Lernerville is, was, has been and will be a Sprint track. The weekly sprints had a healthy year boosted by the number of Ohio and All Star guys frequently dropping in. The place will hardly empty if they drop the Super Lates for the Rush.

Well then, I hope you plan on dropping the tire rule. As is, the division is an embarrassment and to go into 2019 planning on the status quo certainly looks bad on your end.

Thunder Mountain pays the same as Lernerville, and had to raise their purse to do it.
