Jonathan Taylor Saltsburg, PA with a strong podium finish on Sunday captured the 2018 Big E track championship for the UMP Modifieds! Way to go team Taylor. That was an encore performance following his winning effort on Saturday at Lernerville's during the Steel City Stampede.

Walt, with your vast knowledge and recall, is this the first time a Western PA driver has won a track title at Eldora? I think so, but I am not 100% certain.

Would you consider Brian Ruhlman a Western Pa driver?

I believe that Brian lived in NY most of the time while racing in the region prior to moving to MI/OH. Walt certainly would be the expert of the when and where with his historical Cavalcade points records.

I certainly think so!!!!   Wish I had that info on Taylor when I wrote my column last night!!

As for Brian Ruhlman, he is a native of New York but has been gone from there for many years, living in Michigan and doing most of his racing in Ohio and Michigan.   Big surprise when he turned up with a RUSH Sprint Car!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

Walt

DIRTcar Racing is with Brian Ruhlman at Eldora Speedway.Like Page

ed car in turn three. Ruhlman took advantage of the good fortune and after starting 19th, completed the back to front run to win his third DIRTcar Racing Modified Feature of the season at Eldora Speedway (OH). Jonathan Taylor finished third and with Hawkins' misfortune, clinched the 2018 Track Championship by just a single point.

It was cool to witness live .The Taylors are great people. Used to pit beside them when helping a buddy on his emod at Tri City years ago. Was shocked when sitting at Belle-Claire this summer on summernationals trip and seeing there hauler pull in. We were both like "what the hell is he doing out here"? He was as surprised to see someone from back home as I was.

So the Taylor boy that won the stampede is the one that rolled last time at mod mania? Or do I have them mixed up.. feel like they have that place figured out. Good for the Taylor's for picking up the Eldora track championship that is a big deal imo.. one of the most famed tracks in the country.. side note would love to see one of them in a latemodel sometime
