I don't do facebook so...from what I was told, open cars have to be 100 pounds heavier and run D55/1600 tires, crates get weight break and a lm spec style spillboard on the front along with softer tires.
so now the open cars will be at a disadvantage when the Penn Ohio cars come in...just another great move by the management!

Latrobe and Mercer are opening back up so it will already be a thin field.

Only the Strong Will Survive. I wouldn't even put it passed one of these tracks not even making it through the full season.

I never noticed Penn Ohio guys ever being at a disadvantage through all the rule changes in the last 5 years .

I get what your saying because the rules are slightly different than Penn Ohio .. so what will happen when the two come together.

Didn't the tracks make their rules exactly " Penn Ohio" when Penn Ohio had a sanctioned race?

 i believe they did .

100 pounds never changed much at Pittsburgh except the #33 on a very slick night i believe he got a top 5 pittsburgher??

Having a350 CI motor that has all the parts of a 602 Crate but a better cam and a size bigger valves  and even the 3310 carb

Now has to weigh 3000

TALK ABOUT A DISADVANTAGE

have to go back to 8" tires and take a bunch of weight Off so the little motor can keep up with these 423 / 421/ 383  406 etc etc !

maybe 40 more hp than a "Certified Bolts" Crate Motor

all the motors are treated the same unless you have the Certified bolts

See : to me its the same price either way ...... New Crate ... or juice up the 350 ...

The ELM and Willie Race at PPMS will both be straight Penn Ohio rules, meaning the opens will be able to weigh 2900# with open tires.

I went back and forth with the Mileys on rules and recommended Penn Ohio rules with additional breaks for the Crates. I can see the points for adding 100# and hard tires to slow them down but I personally wouldnt have done it.

It was the middle ground of keeping open motor cars and not going 100% Crate. Which I am definitely for.

I love the Penn Ohio series and the bigger ELM type shows for the division. But I think its a matter of time until the weekly car counts dwindle and those 25-35 cars are the only ones around due to the costs of where the division is heading. So I understand trying to keep the costs down and slowing down the open motors/adding incentives to crates to keep more guys in the division. Whether it works or not time will tell (see open emods).

There are going to be tune up races and specials that are open rules. I already discussed that with Matt- like your example the week before the ELM would be Penn Ohio rules for that reason. We are only talking about the base rule package for weekly racing.

Like he said
Smart move
People have a way to come in and race ...so they will ..or the sport is over
So a guy with a little motor can put on 8” tires and an
8” spoiler and even a littl wicker bill and maybe have a chance on a slick track
So I can tell you that there will be at least one more car at a couple of those races

racing there weekly is pointless with these rules. changing tires an adding weight back an forth for $300 bucks.....your better running the series for 1000 to 1500 a race. an doing nothing. let the 604s have the track

Hence my point about the same 25-35 cars chasing the series and open motors with $20K roller local fields (outside of Sharon) not existing. Same reason Mercer didnt add Stocks to their weekly program.

With the penn Ohio series rules it would have made better sense for all parties to follow there rules. What you have currently is just going to divide the cars that want to run a particular track.
