Rex King Jr won the 35 lap BRP. Sr was in second after starting 11th but got a flat on lap 26. 28 BB mods. I thought it was a good race.

Cooter pulled the number 1 and no one really challenged him the whole race. Sr. got close enough to sniff his exhaust for a while, but Cooter coulda phoned this one in. Some of the other races had some good moments, but it's still a groove and a quarter track for the mods, so far.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

I really hope they can make this work, but I'm concerned that this is the same family that did a mediocre-at-best job with the track before Vicki bought it from them. The track saw 2 races last season, and this is the Michaels family's first regular race since the mid-90's so it has potential to go up from here, and that is what I am hoping for.
The concessions people were so lost that I felt sorry for them, but they definitely want to get it figured out and this was trial by fire.

Davey Murdick went door to door hard with a stopped car exiting 2 and left the track in the ambulance. One of the 305 left the car with the leg of his driving suite on fire. The fire crew could have done better. Not sure how bad either of those turned out.
They used quads for pace trucks, and the PA issues that have been ongoing for years are still a factor. Jim Balentine said they are going to address the sound issues.

They also added a victory pace lap with the checkered flag after the cars scale. Then they bring the drivers up to the front stretch for an interview. then they line up the next race. took a lot of time! Overall tho, It was a nice program. Crowd was big, but remember, not much else is running. I think the locals will support this track. Saw a lot of young people there (15 to 30) and that's good. 5 divisions and they could have been done by midnight. only $15.

Is Fastrack allowing Rush cars? If so the crate mod count might drop drastically once the season gets going too. I hope all those crate cars stay at Mercer.
