Im extremely excited to announce the 8th annual Ed Laboon Memorial will pay a record $4,017 to win, $200 to start still with no entry or registration fees! It will be brought to you by STAAR Logistics and STAAR Lubricants. Please see the attached press release and payout. Much more to come on this great event! Please share and make this the biggest ELM race to date!

Wanted to add- I still will be contacting the local fans and racers who contributed to this event in the past. I budgeted this purse based off of previous fundraising so if you helped me in the past I would appreciate it even more this year to keep this event growing! if you want to get involved this year for the first time there are plenty of things we can do together, let me know! Thanks!

Vince Laboon

Looks good but can you tell me why the winner of the non qualifier is making more then 6th place in the big race? It seems like if I was on the fringe of making it in the b main I would be better off just "letting" myself get passed so I could go off to the Non qualifiers.

Chrome- just going off other big shows where the NQ is about 10% of the big show. I believe the Uncle Sam was $3K where the Firecracker was $30K. I checked a few other races and saw the same numbers.

Youre right, you could hang back and hope for that. But I think the prestige of making the ELM will nullify that, and if we have over 12 cars start the NQ, we will most likely pill draw to discourage exactly what you said. Thanks!

So you're saying if you don't make the main race and you make the non-qualifiers race you're taking everybody in that race and doing a pill draw up to 24 cars correct? If so that would completely discourage a lot of guys I would think from sandbagging the B mains knowing they could start 24th

God no, I meant like a 6, 8 or 10 redraw. Keeps people honest. If you do sandbag the first B main and think youre starting on the pole for the NQ you could start 10th. Thats all.

Have to remember we average around 55-58 cars. Thats 30 ish cars not making the A main and out of those Id say 10 can win on a weekly basis wherever they go. Its not a given youre gonna win or even be top 3.

Past winners were Jackson Humanic who won a bunch up Tri City I believe, Daryl Charlier and Wayne Carbo. Its not like some bum like me is winning the NQ.

If you really want to put smiles on the fans faces Vince, put all 24 in a hat and do a full redraw and add 5 laps.  Give a moderate or low budget team a chance at the trophy and watch the great race it would create!!!

I agree. I've been to this race the past two years. One thing I do not like is they pretty much Start straight up from time trials which leads to very little passing in the heat races. The featured there is some passing but that would just depend on track conditions. This is the one thing that I really don't like about the series.

Sparkler, part of that is by design. The drivers like the fact they rarely tear up equipment at the race and most times the A main might have a caution or two due to wrecks. The fact the faster cars are up front and you dont have guys inexperienced at a track as fast as PPMS start up front with inverts helps that goal.

Bish won the ELM from 13th. Most hare charger awards I hand out are for at least 13-15 spot advances. One year I think someone moved up 22 spots. Theres definitely some passing in the event. But your feedback is well taken. Thanks.

It’s great how you have run it Vince !
The heats are usually tacky and gives all the motors a chance and those front runners run smart and keep their stuff in tack and deserve to start to 10
Your 100 percent right about the speed at Pittsburgh and guys poop their pants on the outside going into 1 and wreck in front of the whole field in a panic!
Wayne Carbo walked away with 800 last year and was racing for the transfer spot in his heat but didn’t make the pass but I told him he was dam smart to do it !
I don’t know if he held back I was just kidding him because I’m a fan and was watching Lol!
Great job !
See you at the Loose Moose!

Oh he definitely wasnt holding back lol. That was the most dejected man Ive ever seen in victory lane. He told me this wasnt the one he wanted to win and I told him he was being too hard on himself. I have to check but Im pretty sure he has the most top 3 finishes without an ELM win.

Oh and thanks Davey that reminds me I forgot to post on here: this Friday 4/26 is the annual ELM fundraiser at the Loose Moose Saloon in Baldwin. A $10 donation at the door gets you $2 drinks all night long! All money raised goes directly to the purse. Event starts at 6 pm and usually runs until 11. Hope to see some of you there!

One final reminder on the fundraiser at the Loose Moose tonight!

Also wanted to thank Greg Beach of Anarchy Kustoms for being a sponsor of the race.  Greg is the guy to see for all of your Pro Stock updates, set ups and fabrication.  Thanks to Kyle Shannon of KS Motorsports for stepping up to become a major sponsor again.

Lastly, be sure to listen to Rappin' On Racin' this coming Monday night for more info on the race!  Thanks.
