SHAUN HOOKS FINDS VICTORY LANE IN $1,000 TO-WIN HOMAK POPS POWERED BY CAN-AM EVENT AT ERIEZ SPEEDWAY!

For Immediate Release

July 1, 2019 (Sandy Lake, PA) The Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series powered by Can-Am invaded Eriez Speedway on Sunday, June 30th, as 42 pro stocks competed for the $1,000 prize.  Back in 2014, Shaun Hooks visited Eriez Speedway for the first time and picked up the Penn Ohio Series event win.  The Sandy Lake, PA driver returned to the Speedway after a five year hiatus and kept his winning streak at the track alive as he parked his Homak, E & K Management, Ringgold Heating & Plumbing, Wrapz by Reiser, Les Frickshun sponsored Slider Race Car #65 in victory lane.

Drivers battled in five heat races fighting for a spot in the main event as the top 4 from each heat advanced.  Heat race winners included Paul Davis #3, Hunter Exley #23HJR, Tim Bish #11B, Chris McGuire #63, and Jason Fosnaught #73.  Two last chance B Mains gave drivers an opportunity to advance to the A Main for a shot at the $1,000 prize.  Winners were Bobby Whitling #7W and Terry Wheeler Sr. #2W.  Drivers not advancing from the heats and B Mains had a chance to race in a Non-Qualifier B Feature paying $250 to-win.

A redraw for the top 2 drivers in each heat determined starting positions for the top 10 in the A Main.  As a result, Fosnaught and McGuire would lead the 24-car field to the green in the 25-lap Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Series powered by Can-Am event.  Fosnaught would lead the opening lap over McGuire with some great racing action between the two along with the entire field of cars.  The first caution flag would fly on lap 6 for top runners Davis and Daryl Charlier #112, as an incident had them spinning in turn 3.  The caution bunched the field back up with McGuire and Fosnaught on the front line.

The field would battle for three additional green flag laps with McGuire securing the lead until the 2nd caution flag flew on lap 10 for a spinning 3rd place runner Exley.  McGuire commanded the lead throughout the next five cautions as B Main winner and 21st place starter, Whitling made his way to the runner up spot and 13th place starter Hooks secured the third position.  McGuire and Whitling battled for the lead with Hooks in tow until lap 22 where the leaders got together on the front stretch allowing Hooks to hug the wall and take over the lead.

The caution flag flew on lap 23 for a slowed Whitling who departed to the pits.  The remaining two laps were caution free as Hooks sailed to the victory over 17th starter Jackson Humanic #17.  Exley finished in third as he made his way from restarting at the tail on lap 10.  McGuire held onto fourth as Fosnaught came home in fifth.  Anthony Marotto #15 was sixth over Mike Reed #34R, followed by Tim Bish, John Boardman #777 and Wesley McCray #32 rounded out the 10.

Twelve Penn Ohio pro stocks competed in the 12 lap Non-Qualifier B Feature.  Jeremy Perry #15x and Noah Brunell #31 led the field to the green.  Brunell captured the win over Curtis Bish #29, Joe Rohrer #RT8, Jason Black #5B and James Fosnaught #20J.  The Letters By Brunell, SS Chassis and Supply, Moyers Insurance, It’s All Clean PSI Washing sponsored SS Chassis #31 took home the $250 check.

The next Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series powered by Can-Am event is scheduled for Saturday, July 6th at Latrobe Speedway.  Pro Stock drivers will battle again for $1,000 and fans will not want to miss the great racing action!
