High temperatures postpone Prelude to the World Championship to August 24th

Officials with the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance and Virginia Motor Speedway have announced that the $3,000 to win Prelude to the World Championship has been postponed as forecasted heat indexes are above 110 degrees. The Prelude to the World Championship has been rescheduled for August 24th at Virginia Motor Speedway.

“With heat indexes over 110 we feel it is in the best interest of the teams, fans, and officials to postpone,” said FASTRAK Vice President DJ Irvine, “we are looking forward to the Prelude to the World Championship on August 24th.”

The Prelude to the World Championship will be the last chance for drivers on the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance to get paid practice at Virginia Motor Speedway ahead of the $50,000 to win 2019 FASTRAK World Championship. The FASTRAK World Championship, with a total purse of $166,275, is the single richest race in Pro Late Model racing history. The race will be broadcast as a two-hour special of Speed51’s Short Track America on MavTV airing on October 30th.

Very smart move. Hopefully the local tracks will follow suit as it is pretty dangerous for a driver to be subject to those temperatures in a fire suit want extended period of time.

These tracks need to take advantage of any weekend that it's not raining at this point. It's summer. It's always hot in the summer.

It's going to be over 100 at I-80 for the Lucas race, I bet they don't cancel! Might be a good idea to push back the start times though, 7 is still pretty hot, 8 would be better.

All the corn out there in Nebraska will makes it feel like it's 125, but yes, they'll still race. But Eastern Virginia does tend to be a bit more liberal, maybe the snowflakes are afraid of melting. Lol

I swear, if I miss a weekend of racing because it's to sunny,  I'm gonna join a summer bowling league!! :D  :D  :D
