FIRST TIME WINNER, HUNTER EXLEY CAPTURES HOMAK PENN OHIO SERIES POWERED BY CAN-AM $1,000 WIN AT THE NEW STATELINE SPEEDWAY!

For Immediate Release

July 15, 2019 (Sandy Lake, PA) The New Stateline Speedway welcomed the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series powered by Can-Am last Saturday, July 13th.  Thirty-five pro stocks came prepared to battle for the $1,000 prize.  Visiting victory lane for the first time in a dominating performance was Hunter Exley in his Slider Race Car #23HJR sponsored by M & N Racing, AT&S, Country Grub, Linda Lou’s, Wolbert Welding, Billy’s Garage, Blum’s Taxidermy, Ada’s Cleaning Services, and McDonald & Associates Tax Services.

The event started with drivers competing in four heat races and five drivers transferring to the A Main.  Heat race winners included Bobby Whitling #7W, Curtis Bish #29, Rod Laskey #1R, John Boardman #777.  Two last chance B Mains gave drivers an opportunity to advance to the A Main for a shot at the $1,000 prize.  Winners were Tim Bish #11B and Jason Black #5B.  Drivers not advancing from the heats and B Mains had an opportunity to race in a Non-Qualifier B Feature paying $250 to-win.

A redraw for the top 3 drivers in each heat determined starting positions for the top 12 in the A Main.  As a result, Exley and Daryl Charlier #112 would lead the 24-car field to the green in the 25-lap Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Series powered by Can-Am event.  Exley jumped out to lead lap 1 over third-starter Laskey.  As Exley distanced himself from the rest of the pack Laskey would battle fourth-starter Whitling, seventh-starter Curtis Bish and Charlier for the runner up spot.  As Exley approached lap traffic, the first caution flag would fly on lap 15 as track officials had no choice but to slow racing action for the quick rain shower.

The cars remained on the track during the slight rain delay.  Once racing action resumed, Exley would lead the field to the green with Whitling at his side.  Whitling edged to the lead over Exley but the caution flag would quickly fly for two spinning cars prior to the completion of lap 16.  Exley’s second attempt at restarting the race with Whitling at his side proved to be beneficial as he maintained the top spot giving Bish an opportunity to battle Whitling for second.  Eighth-starter Boardman advanced to fourth on lap 17 as Charlier slipped to fifth.  Before the completion of lap 23 the third caution flag slowed racing action for two cars tangling in turn 1.

Exley and Whitling would again bring the pack to green to battle for position in the remaining three laps.  Exley secured the top spot over Whitling as Bish and Boardman battled for third.  Just when it appeared Exley would bring home his first career win in three years of racing, the last caution flag waved for a four car incident in turn 3 and 4.  Exley would have to hold off the Veteran Whitling for one last lap to capture his first win and did just that to bring home the $1,000 Homak Penn Ohio Series powered by Can-Am prize.  Whitling secured the runner up spot over Boardman, Bish and Charlier.  Laskey came home in sixth followed by Jason Fosnaught #73, Paul Davis #3, Kyle Couchenour #299, and Jeff Broniszewski rounded out the top 10.

Douglas Eck #4* picked up the $250 Non-Qualifier win over Dennis Blood #45, Justin Pratt #11P, Victor Redeye #6R, and Anthony Marotto #15.

Racing action for the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series powered by Can-Am will resume on Friday, July 19th at Raceway 7 for a point race paying $1,000 to-win.  The Series will then host a “Crew Chief” race at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, July 20th during a regular pro stock racing event with no series points being awarded.
