The Rush Crate Late Model racing is almost always pretty exciting at PPMS, but the drivers outdid themselves tonight, in what was probably one of the best races I've seen in quite a while.  Brian Underwood and crew had the track prepared to perfection, almost no dust, and a very wide racing surface which provided plenty of passing.  Jeremy Wonderling , the current Rush points leader, took the lead at the beginning of the race, maintained the lead after a lap 7 caution, and appeared to be running very strong with a decent lead over the second place car.  However, disaster struck on lap 20 when it appears he may have blown an engine.  Kyle Lukon, Wayne Robertson, Scott Gunn, and Colton Flinner waged a spirited battle for the lead, swapping the lead several times, until Gunn and Robertson got together in the first turn, which resulted in Robertson spinning out and going to the tail.  Lukon and Flinner then resumed the battle with reciprocal slide jobs, but finally Lukon grabbed the lead, however on lap 27, Dennis Cummings slowed, bringing out the final caution.  Lukon elected to start on the outside and beat Flinner into the first turn on the restart, and resumed the lead.  At the same time 13th starter, Tommy Schirnhofer, got by Flinner and moved into second place, which he maintained to the end, with Flinner finishing 3rd.  There were 36 Rush Late Models in the pits tonight.  It was also announced this evening that the Jook George Memorial on Aug. 10 will pay $10,010 thanks to the hard work of  Brandon Lockwich.  Results as follows:

Really dose this surprise you. People have been saying all along Pro Stocks should remain open motors or go Penn Ohio Rules. As for Rush Late Models they are getting a good car counts and some good racing. JMO.

The track was perfect last night. It tends to be top dominant sometimes but the bottom groove was pretty good last night and you could run anywhere you wanted. Hopefully it's exactly like that for the Pittsburgher this year.

I can remember when the Hobby Stocks had  4 or 5 cars a few years back. When DavyLee raced in that class they had a fair amount of cars. Now they are getting 12 cars guess money speaks louder than a bag of chips, and motors. JMOP.

Great report Flash, it was some damn good racing last night. If the track is that good for the Jook race in 3 weeks, it should be a great race. Awesome to see it now paying $10 grand to win, I think you will see a pretty loaded field there for that race.
