Think Hidden Valley is too far away for most 358 drivers to get a very good field!!

Just an update from their website.

Under the new ownership of Merle Black plans are underway to open for weekly racing on Sunday nights in the spring of 2020. There are many improvements currently taking place both on and off the track to provide a better race experience for the drivers and fans alike. The track has been widened in the turns which will provide a smaller inside lane plus allow for an exciting race experience. The rocks are gone and the track is being prepped for clay resurfacing. New concession stand items are being discussed along with ways to improve the trusted favorites. Give a ways….give a ways….and give a ways are in the planning stage. Painting, general maintenance updates and clean up are taking place all around. Merle and his family want nothing more than to have a raceway that is both a driver’s and fans favorite place to be. We can’t wait to see all of you on opening night!!!

It sounds great! He's already trying hard to make it work. I hope it is successful. The thing is that Tri City has always been best at being the track you go to on the way home from camp. If he can capitalize on that and build weekly fan and driver loyalty it may work.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

It would be great if Mercer and Tri-city ran the same divisions.  Also a combined point system.  If you ran Mercer on Sat night, and Tri-city on Sunday, you get an eXtra 10 points added to your points.  Have a  combined banquet also.  It would help both tracks.  Cut a lot of costs.  Run Sprints, big block mods, and the Penn-Ohio stocks.  This would bring in the spectators.

Great idea!  Three's classes is enough and throw Lernerville into the mix with Penn-Ohio.  Late Model fans could do Lernerville Friday and where ever they choose Saturday and Sunday.  From what I saw of Fan interest at the WoO Late Model show, there not needed to bring fans in through the front gate.

I'm tired of special shows and would like to go back to lets go watch at the same track each week.  A special show midway tied to double points and one or two late in the season after points end is ok.

I think continuity of I'm going there to BS with friends and watch racing each week is what's needed.  I'm tired of every week wondering where to go watch my favorite even to the extent of asking on here "Where's the racing this weekend".

I think fans choosing to pay to go in the front gate is as much about going and seeing friends to talk up racing and other stuff as it is about what's put on the track.  Give us at least Sprints, Big Blocks and Stocks every week and it's an automatic we'll become stuck on and a super fan of one of the three.  Nothing at all bad about Super Lates, there just not needed.

Maybe some of the guys running series racing will wake up and build a small motor and go race for a decent purse instead of a participation trophy.

There were a lot of small blocks at Mercer for the Little Guys Nats.  Running on Sundays weekly there very likely to get a lot of them each week.

Hopefully they start over and actually build a website. There is nothing on the site that is up and running basically.

The entire scenario is brand new.  Give them time. Or perhaps offer some assistance ?  I'm sure Merle wouldn't refuse help.

All I was trying to say is don't put out a finished product when it isn't finished yet.
