Wow. Car counts stink when another track copies half your schedule.

You do the math.

Wasn't the cost for a driver and one helper at one track $160 and the other $60?

The RUSH Late Models are a high cost car less some engine cost.

The "economical" sprints and big bodied modifieds are sold to racers as low cost racing.  Isn't it obvious odds are the sprint and big bodied modified racers will have less funding for their racing?  I haven't heard from any RUSH big bodied modified racer but I have been told RUSH sprint customers skipped the last PPMS show because or entry cost.  Might track entry cost be the major factor to keep low budget big bodied racers away last night?  Mercer had a nice field of both 358's and crate big bodied modified's.  A $100 is a big difference on cost to go racing or as many on here call it play, hobby or fun, instead of racing and being out there for the love of racing.

I'm not knocking any track on here only speaking to cost verses, hey maybe just maybe it's too darn expensive to race at that track verses another track.  And that's only done because someone brought up low car counts and I think reading on here the blame for it was put on another track.  I disagree.

I believe the gentleman was referring to the Rush Modified and Pro Stock divisions, which if they weren't racing at Mercer, probably would have been at PPMS.  (not all of them, of course, but quite a few).  When two tracks in the same general area are running the same divisions, of course the cars will be divided up.

The 2 elite crate promotions never post what there entry fee's are to my knowledge. I think guys looked at it purely on cost. PPMS is a track that across the board is harder on equipment and related products, tires, fuel. It showed in car count.

Its too bad for the support classes that the Pittsburgher 100 and the Mercer Little Guy Nationals are on the same weekend!!   Those drivers and teams get "robbed" out of a night of higher purse racing that they could attend if the two tracks weren't running the same weekend!!   Both have lower car counts this weekend than either would have if the other wasn't running!!!   They have been on the same weekend for at least the past three years!!   I think it would benefit both tracks to get together over the winter and set things up so these two season ending shows were not on the same weekend!!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!!

Walt

36 Lucas late models signed in currently. Guess they’ll have a full field tonight in spite of the social media experts lol.

I never said mercer had crates running. I thought most of you experts could figure that out. I was talking about the sportsman class. Next time, maybe.
Racer your a brave boy behind a keyboard. In fact ppms had a great crate turnout.

I believe Mercer used to run the LGN the last weekend of September until the track closed previously. They switched to the Pittsburgher weekend the last few years. I agree it hurts both tracks.

Walt, that was one year in 2015 I believe. Before that it was always the 3rd weekend of September and LGN was the following week. Then the Pittsburgher was the week after 2016+. Then LGN chose to go head to head with the Pittsburgher.

Yes, when Lucas first sanctioned the race. and when Mercer changed, it was Bill Altman who owned the track, not Vicki Emig or the current owner. Not trying to pass any "blame" around, just saying if they weren't both on the same weekend they would both get more cars for  some of their support classes.  Of course if PPMS moved up a week they would run into Bedford and Thunder Mountain with big Late Model races. So the best move would b \e for Mercer to move up a week as as the Stocks would be the only one with more than one track running.  And the stocks from Bedford never come west to run any Penn-Ohio series races, so no conflict there.    Unfortunately, there just are not enough weekends around between Labor Day and the cold weather for every track to have a big race without going up against another track.  But if Mercer would move up a week next year, overall it would be better for both them and PPMS!!

GOOD RACING!!!

After last years pittsburgher Don o'Neal said we found something. After 2 in a row he should be ready to make a run at the lucas title. He definitely has ppms figured out. At other times throughout the season they seem to struggle to do anything right. Go figure.

I also agree. But what are the chances of Mercer moving up a week. Walt you have some pull with these tracks and i"m sure they would her you out. What would they have to lose.

I agree Jo,  but if Davenport doesn't have a fuel issue he finishes 2nd.  It was obvious on long runs and restarts he couldn't  hang with him.  Did you think it was a good race??
