I think Aaron deserved to be 3rd. I think you could say he dominated the all star series this year. As much of a fan I am of the steel city bandit I believe with team 49 seemingly closing the doors and Tim ride hopping the remainder of the year someone else should have been in the top rankings of both poles. I know the knoxville faithful are going to ask why brownie didn't make it ?

What does it matter if he ride hopped or not ?  The fact of the matter is, he raced.  And it's Steel City Outlaw, not bandit.

There is no doubt Aaron Reutzel had a great year, and there can be a argument made to have him 3rd.  But look at these stats, his 'head-to-head" records against the other highly-rated drivers is not great...

  • Brad Sweet 8-20 (meaning, he raced against Brad Sweet 28 times in 2019, 8 times he finished ahead of him, and 20 times behind)
  • Donny Schatz 7-20
  • David Gravel 9-18
  • Daryn Pittman 8-20
  • Tim Shaffer 26-13
  • Logan Schuchart 9-21
  • Lance DeWease 11-5
  • Kyle Larson 6-10
  • Sheldon Haudenschild 18-12

As far as Tim Shaffer, his results in 2019 are not as good as 2018, but overall, they still were pretty good!

Brian Brown, had a great year, but all his wins were only at Knoxville, and not making the features at the Knoxville Nationals and Kings Royal hurt him in my formulas.

Brad Sweet as a professional Sprint Car driver earning a Million in two years !

That alone should put him in first place.

As professionals top earner should be first place and sort the rest out how ever anyone chooses.  :)

Bill, first and foremost I appreciate the time you put into this. Showing what Aaron has done head to head I see why your formula puts him were you have him.

Thanks for the list. I have to agree Brad should be at the top. Any driver who wins the outlaw sprint points title in a loaded field just shows he is the best
