Good field of cars.i have one question. What makes the area out there be able to hold races so early in the season vs local tracks around here. Is it the elevation where the ground is more suitable For racing or is it just the promoters are that much better at getting the grounds ready to race.

It's not elevation, more the latter. Great promotional team and a killer track crew. Those guys have it figured out.

Historically milder winters, and less frost in the ground can't hurt either...  In NW PA, there's usually snow on the ground until April many years..  Good track prep certainly doesn't hurt...

The tracks in central pa have a different mentality. They have a rain shower that comes through at 5pm, they still race. Most tracks run a 2 or 3 division show. I've been to 2 division shows were I've been in my car buy 9ish. It's been that way for years. I was at lincoln the year they had to plow the snow off the track.

I was at Port a few years ago for the WoO LM's and it stormed so hard and rained like a monsoon till 7:30 that we were just waiting to cash my tickets back in.
Well they worked that track back in and ran the full WoO show plus the 410 Sprint show and we were on our way by 1:00 AM.
Tracks around here would have cancelled before noon or as soon as the rain hit and not even thought about getting it in.
But then again efforts like Port and the other Central PA. tracks put fourth is why their stands are pretty well packed every week.

most has to do with promotion and fanbase..Western Pa traditionally started a month earlier than it now does.
PPMS used to be ..practice last weekend of March, open April 1st,now nothing till May..they no longer have the fans or drivers.

I can remember watching Mark Banal win a feature opening night with snow coming down..place was packed.

Port Royal, the Grove..they still have the fans and teams to pull it off.
