This will be the first Pittsburgher that I will miss in 20+ years, and I have a feeling it may be for many others as well.

The PPMS website boasts "No Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series 31st annual Pittsburgher 100 price increases, same prices since 2014!" They omit the fact that it is now a one day show and many will catch both Lucas shows this weekend.

Or will they?

$50 for general admission and $75 for a pit pass! That is absolutely outrageous. Raceway 7 the previous night is charging $30 for general admission and $40 for a pit pass, just $10 more for general admission that PPMS is charging for the crate show on the same night, and the same price that PPMS is charging for the pits on Friday.

This hurts everyone involved from the fans to the drivers/crews and the track itself. For $99 a year you can catch this Lucas race and many many more. The price of 2 general admission tickets to Saturdays show. Not to mention what you would spend on overpriced concessions. Many teams can barely afford to keep racing as is and so the supporting drivers will be out $135 per person for 2 days at PPMS.

This event used to be massive and its clear that the owners have no interest in restoring its former glory.

Good Luck to all drivers this weekend, I'll be at Raceway 7 Friday and on my couch Saturday.

What are your thoughts on $50/$75 prices for a one day show?

These prices are in line with the big league sports in the same county.

Oh, wait - Just a couple months ago they didn't want to be lumped in with the big league sports. https://www.post-gaz...es/202005270130

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

It's always expensive to race at PPMS, and to attend big events there, but someone always has to drag out the same old dead horse every year.  The Lucas Oil race was only a one-day show last year also.

This is misleading. Last year for the grandstands a 2 day pass was $50 and $75 for the pits. This year there is no 2 day passes period. It is $20 and $50 for the grandstands and $40 and $75 for the pits. So actually the costs have gone up IF you attend both days. $115 for both days in the pits, I don't think the World 100 is that expensive. Not to mention they are charging $80 for drive in parking plus $50 to camp. Miley will be filling up both pockets this weekened.

hopefully they make enough to finally give the 2019 rings and jackets to last years champions..?

we were talking about that the other night,I went to my first PMS Banquet in '88 at the bowling alley hall between Canonsburg and Houston..the final year before MM took over in '89.

the night of annual Championship recognition was then upgraded from the bowling alley denim decor to the black tie Grandeur of the Bradley House..then after a couple decades of South Hills polyester opulence.. the inevitable decline began,it bounced down a rung and was held at the NF Firehall..not too bad a place but hardly worth the tie and fancy dress.

somewhere along the way even the back room of the firehall was too High Class and it was demoted down to a night of presumed honor on the front straight?
so in '019 I finally get my name in the history books after years of support and looked forward to the date for "Champion's Night"..!
it was originally scheduled I believe in May.. and of course was never held due to stay at home orders from a whacked out transvestite...?

and now its October...where our valiant efforts were rewarded with a surprise unannounced trophy distribution at almost seasons end followed by a brief interview at intermission the following week where I figured we would finally receive our rewards...?
nope...:(

but.... maybe if the rain holds off ?..and the track lights don't explode in flames!...they might sell enough over priced beaks n' feet sandwiches to scratch up the hardware.

I'll be diplomatic and leave it at this...one thing racing all these years taught me was..
you get out of something what you put in it.

a valuable lesson that a certain management group seems to be learning the hard way!

You forgot the 2004 season banquet held at Dave and Busters, and there was a couple years at the hotel on the top of the hill by Mclaren Rd, and a banquet at Celebrations too.  It's had it's changes over the years!

Exactly - no 2 day passes - why not?

3 day pit pass for the Dirt Track World Championship paying $100,00 to win after Oct 1st = $75

3 day general admission = $65

You saved $10 off either if you ordered before Oct 1st

$100,000 vs $20,000 just sayin.......
