Great weather for the race at Mercer tonight!! Crowd was huge. Rex King wins the BRP race from the outside of the front row. Outran Krumert on a couple of long green flag runs after a slow race start. Early yellows and wrecks sent Rudolf to the tail with damage. Cars seemed to stick to the bottom even though there looked like a ski jump rut in turn two. 29 BB mods 14 pro stocks, 29 4 cyl, 13 305's. When did the BRP series change the race starts from double file to single file with that cone on the front stretch??? YUK!

Could not run the outside, everyone was glued to the bottom. Rudolph tried to run the outside in 1 and 2 once and damn near looped it. Not as dusty as it was for the BRP race last July. Big crowd.
Can hardly hear the announcer where I sat. Who was in the black/red #3B? It was definitely a NY car with Phelps Concrete products on it. I know Williamson runs a #3 SB for someone.

Was it Chad Bachman? Not sure, I couldn't hear either and I had a speaker in front of me.

That would be Justin Haers.

Pretty sure the cone was Mercer, and it was horrible, but so was the whole program.
If you want to see racing at Mercer, better do it quick.
My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

I thought it might have been Haers, but to my recollection, he never ventured down this way except maybe for an SDS race. He's a fine driver.

Brachmann was in the yellow & black #3. Finished 4th.

Are they in danger of closing?

He is indeed a very competitive driver.

One grove. Single file, cone, starts. I can't see any reason for drivers or fans to keep showing up.

One bad race hardly spells doom for a racetrack.

It's the same track for everyone and I did not see a bad race.
Only bad thing I saw was the large amount of rocks picked up by track workers.
Might a rack have been the problem for the stock stopping in turn two which required and ambulance?
Is there a farm machine made for sifting rocks from dirt laid down on a track?
Great racing, fun to watch and a job well done by Mercer owners and crew, I saw nothing to complain about.
ooops yes there is one question which is not a complaint.
Did the Big Block Cars have to pay a $50 registration fee if they were not going to race there weekly, assuming they will be there weekly, but just the tour?

I think Flash is right Jim, one race with new clay is not a good sample. I've seen good racing here in the past. But the crowd was huge and they were having fun, it's to bad they missed the chance to put on a good better race. BRP is there 3 more times this year, and I'll go again. But get rid of that cone!!!

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I saw one groove, and no place to pass. Sure, fast cars could pass the cars that raced at caution speeds, but once they got into moderately slow cars, it was over. The cone starts meant that cars behind the caution speed drivers couldn't even fire until the leader was setting up for 3, and yes, it happened.

TBH, it wasn't a terribly entertaining Modified feature, period, However, I'll give them a chance as they are working with a new surface. They couldn't seem to get a top groove to come in. Plus, the "whoop" section exiting two didn't help, either. I was entertained by the people sitting near me, they were having a good time and we shared some good laughs, so all in all, I enjoyed myself.

It always helps to be around people having fun.
I do hope they can get a second groove as they move into the season. I just have a huge problem with some of the policy stuff too.
I do want the track to make it.
