Only one comment about tires and prepping and I have to disagree with it for these reasons.
You prep a tire to set the basics of how you need your tire to work, which only could be how it came from the factory.
But tracks change and to be fast your tires need to be able to work with the change, be it grip going to slick or slick gaining grip in at least some areas of the track.
It's about being able to change and reset factory sidewall stiffness or retain factory sidewalls, separately from the part of your tire which carries your tread.
It's about setting how soft you might need your tread separately from how what's holding it onto the tire.
It's about setting how quickly you need your tires grip to come in and for how long you need initial grip to remain depending on the track conditions.
A good tire man will know how to adjust your tires compound and build so they can preform as needed because they understand the needs of each tire all around the track.
With so many cars on the track with the best of everything who's fast and not so fast is first about tires if there not teched and secondly about driver skills.
Today if tires are equal tires and purchased cookie cutter cars and hp it's about driver skill and who fine tuned the reduced amount of car differences the best.
If tires are not teched then their open with only their branding being the same and who wins will be most often determined by who's on the best tires.
I know for fact locally around 10 years ago some local sprint teams were being approached to assist with chemical tire preparation by Super Lates.
I'll ask again does anyone know if any local track or sanctioning body is currently and actively testing tires for chemical prepping?
If not then much of the fast you see on the track today in any and every class of racing is the result of open tires.
Chrome horn if RUSH is actively testing tires. It's good for them and in my humble opinion, it's good for their racers.
