I'm surprised no one commented.

The track was much better. The racing wasn't great though. But overall the whole event was a good time, at least for me.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

The track Saturday night was the way it should have been all 3 nights. Tons of drivers and fans were very disgusted with the track surface Thursday and Friday. I have no clue what they were trying to do but obviously they finally listen to everybody on Saturday.

They thought the touring drivers wanted a super slick track, and learned otherwise.

That's not the truth. I talked to Dan and they under estimated the wind and the Sun on both days.

The Friday before the Firecracker, the track was slick like that.  And the announcer said "Dan gave us a Firecracker track."

Every yr it's like that before the firecracker. He gives the guys some practice on a slick track for the 100 lapper.
