Honestly those are all southern cars as far as the area goes except for Rapp. So none of them drove by really. But mercer has a lot of problems. Anyone that knows me knows that Im always their biggest cheerleader, but I really dont see a way back under the current ownership. Theyre well intentioned but far too stubborn to admit faults and instead of saying hey we know theres a problem and were working to fix it, they have went with the if you dont like how we do it, dont come and we all know how that ends.

ULMS says do to tire shortage. Haven't heard anything from track. Sure it's a coincidence the point leader is heading to wisconsin this weekend. For the track Probabky doesnt make sense, ULMS doesnt really bring more than 2 or 3 cars.

I've heard the same thing. I think the Tomson's started out that way, and I believe it's why Mike Lysakowski was hired, which was a good move if he is permitted to do the job he knows how to do. No one says the track owners have to kiss the race team's asses. All the racer's want is to be heard and to be treated like human beings. Also, without getting specific, MRP has a weird vibe. It's an entertainment venue and I don't care about the owners political preferences whether I agree with them or not. Yes, it's their right to use their facility for such things same as it is my right to not attend because of it. I'll leave it at that.

Hot Dog I too am a big fan of Mercer they do have problems but he owner is at least aware of the biggest problem which was the new clay he put on I spent some time talking to him awhile back it definitely didn't bond and was very rough he told me the clay was part of the deal with the purchase and most certainly was the wrong type of clay so he plowed it off mostly worked it in to the old surface and that's where we are dusty , sandy I probably have brown lung from going there all these years , these track conditions  have happened at most tracks over the years back when I worked on late models Lernerville was so rough they got down to 4 sprint cars then they didn't even run them they used to put calcium chloride on it to keep the dust down but it was too slippery many cars torn up in the features , Sharon was rougher

than a hogs back and they eventually took care of the track so Edward is aware , I see he had a nice crowd for the 410's I had to go to a wedding in New York so I missed it they also got some exposure on the Youngstown Fox channel last night at 10 for the Guy Griffin memorial at least he some advertising , I no newspapers may not be as relevant as the once were but Mike Leon always gets a press release out every week for Sharon but there was an editorial remark at the end that Mercer got nothing before press time so apparently they aren't doing much PR in print I hope Edward gets things together I hate to drive past my favorite track to go to Sharon , just my 2 cents worth.

The Michaels family owned the track before and just didn't do a good job of it. They make sure to put their name above the name of the track and then do an embarrassing job of managing it. It's more than just struggling with the surface. That track has had some bad clay on it before, and sold tickets.

First of all, if at all possible, they should have kept Cowboy. He did a great job with what was basically an abandoned race track.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Cowboy cared about the product and the racers and trust me, it didn't go unnoticed.

I agree their management style leaves a lot to be desired PR is a big part of it something must have happened must have been some kind of exchange because a half dozen or more teams seemed to have disappeared at the same time  I expect since they are paying $ 5000 to win Saturday and it is BRP sanctioned I imagine they will bury the hatchet for one race at least and run for the BRP points , sure hope they get things sorted out it's tough pulling a lot of fans without 410 sprints and big blocks being the featured class .

$2,000 to win crates this week and there has been almost zero advertisement. Maybe the Track will learn the little bit you get for free on facebook will not draw the big crowds and car counts. Spend some money advertise radio, newspaper, dirt on dirt, 4m. crate insider. other race tracks etc. "Legendary John Mcconnell" aka the PR director does nothing to promote the track efficiently. Its too much work for him to list more than the top 5 results....

That is exactly the problem with every promoter nowadays. They think social media is the answer to advertising because it is free. That is why the stands are empty the and nobody knows what is even going on at these tracks anymore.

The $2,000 crate special is only for their regular racers. That is probably why it isn't advertised. Only 7 or 8 cars are eligible for the money. If an outsider comes in and wins he only gets the regular 1st place paying money. The big money will go to the highest finishing regular racer who has raced a minimum of 50 percent of their weekly races.

I am not sure why they would even schedule this against the $6,010 to win Jook race at Pittsburgh. 3 of their regulars will be at Pittsburgh (Duritsky, Frazee and Angelicchio). Also why promote a race as $2000,00 to win if it is really only $2000.00 to win for a select few drivers? Seems like the old bait and switch method.

It was probably the new promoter Howie trying to make a name for himself. I'm actually looking for a good laugh Sunday when I hear there was less than a dozen cars there.

I don't know but I was told that on facebook Justin Lamb thinks Latrobe is the best track around because they give out free bottles of water and Bob Schwartzmiller was impressed that they were watering the track on a weeknight.

I'm too old for the social media thing so I'll take your word for it. You figure they finally got rid of that John McDonnell guy and now the new Promoter is watering the racetrack on a Tuesday night? Is there excuse for why it will be so dusty on Saturday is they are out of water. Some of these new promoters make me shake my head. I guess you can call me an old school don Martin kind of guy and how they thought to put on a good show for the fans. That's how you make money at a race track.

Howie in charge....thats funny... Its in the lease if the track is open Howie has to be involved. Its a shame how many race tracks owners (Teslovich) and promoters (Bates) take advantage of him. Howie Did alot of Good For motordrome when he was there. I raced asphalt Late Models, He was a good dude that had nice pictures!
