Racing was good in every division.

Martin led most of the Late Model feature but Paugh made up a bunch of ground in 3 & 4 and slid in front of Martin with 2 or 3 laps to go.

Nick Kocuba got out to the early lead in the stock car race and Brian Huchko pulled close in lap traffic but Kocuba held on for the victory.

Blaze Myers took the lead from the outside pile of the sprint car feature and John Mollick started to run him down and they were side-by-side coming down the front straight with mollick on the inside of Myers. As Myers started to pull ahead off turn 2 his car stumbled and Mollick hopped his LR tire with his RR and spun out. Myers went unchallenged for the win after the restart.

Tatgenhorst took the lead from the pole and lead the race early on around the bottom the Chas Wolbert moved to the topside and started to track the 63T down. Wolbert got to Tatgenhorsts outside and the the two races side by side for two laps til the 63T went up in smoke. Tough night for the RUSH mods as only 3 finished the raced.

Chloe Jones and Kayla McManus led the field to green with McManus getting the early lead. As McManus lead she was pressured by Jones, Cody Koteles and Matt Bernard. The 1k made the pass to the outside and the 15 followed to second. The 15 kept pace with the 1k and tried passing him. On the last lap the 15 ducked under the 1k off turn 4 and they crossed the line 4 wide with 2 lap cars in the mix. I thought race monitor said the 15 won.

Only 12 Rush lates, I think I saw Latrobe had 17 including the Gunn brothers who have always ran at Pittsburgh. If I were Matt I would be finding out why guys who have supported my track for years and years are all of a sudden going to Latrobe now when they live right by PPMS.

Ryan Frazee, Zach Kane, and Michael Duritsky Jr. also used to support PPMS.  I love the racing at PPMS, but am tired of being taken for granted.  Up at Latrobe, their entrance road used to be just as bad as the one at PPMS, but they actually asphalted the damn thing.  Hell will freeze over before that happens at PPMS and the entrance road to the spectator stands is disgraceful. Plus, for the Red Miley Memorial, the pit fee was $40, and the admission fee $20, and for what, the winners share of the purse was only $2K and thereafter it fell off tremendously.  I don't find it unusual that the support there is dwindling.  I will always be there for special events, but for the regular weekend shows, not so much unless things change.

The RUSH car counts goes up and down every season. There were nights in the where they only got 9 to 12 cars. Sometimes guys just want to get away. Also a lot of guys broke engines this year.

That's what happens when drivers give engine builders used or junk parts. I know at least 3 drivers who've gone through 2 motors already this year.

I do subscribe to MavTV Plus, but I would rather be at that race in person.  Even though the prices are out of line there, that's not my biggest gripe, it's how they've let the place deteriorate over the years to the condition it's in now..   When PPMS opened in 1979 the restrooms were among the best at any track, not so any more, nothing a little cleaning and repair couldn't fix.  I can't believe the owners of a business wouldn't take a little more pride in their property.

Same thing, different year. They will never invest money into the facilities. Thru this site and social media the place has been sold numerous times and yet the gates swing open the next year. I think if the equipment gives up at the track then you will see it close down because there not going to invest in a grader or even a water truck. I don't even know if they own that equipment or someone else does.

My question is, how in the world does Lucas not pull the sanction because the place has become an eye sore ?

Thanks but you need to look at what flash49 says too as he has been a longtime supporter and defender of the track. When even he isn't happy with things there, obviously there is an issue. I have said before, Pittsburgh would be better off going to a special event only schedule. Weekly racing is on the decline and they are not excluded. Most weeks I would say there are less then 200 people in the stands on a regular race night. I doubt they are piling up the money. If it was me besides putting some money and tlc into the property, I would run the Laboon, Jook, Pittsburgher and a few other specials and hope the crowds would be good enough that they would end up the same money wise vs running every week. Also, let's face it the Mileys are all getting older and I am sure at this point owning a track is more like a burden then anything else. They should have gotten someone like a Vince or someone young who had fresh ideas and most importantly had the respect of the racers who are competing at the track to be the promoter and they could just fade into the background.

I actually meant to quote Flash. I have no idea if you are a loyal PPMS customer and highly respected member of racestud or not. I guess youre okay, I dont recall putting you in the Racedud tournament, won by that gas moocher fanmods in a landslide, but Flash has been like Gandhi here for 20 years.

To be honest, while PPMSs decline is well documented here, if someone were to ask me what they or any track could do, I wouldnt have much of an answer. Weekly racing is dead and the regional series are on their way there. Id suggest any track go to specials only or sell the property, truth be told.

Car counts are down but are generally down everywhere outside of Sharon and Lernerville. Outside the rocks from the dirt over the winter the track has been generally good and dust free. Bathrooms could use some TLC sure but no worse than the troughs at LV. Walls were repainted white. Most of the boards needing replaced have been. Food is expensive but generally good. The drive in parking in turn 1 seems popular. Shows dont drag on until 1 am.

ELM, Jook, Hobby Stock races were great. Pittsburgher usually doesnt disappoint (yes I know its expensive).

What are you looking to improve? Im trying to get more involved for 2022. Thanks.

Lucas Super Lates from my experience unlike a WoO Super Late show is fun to watch.

 

If there's nothing else going on per just no racing or most places rained out I will pay the $50 because it's close and it becomes reasonably priced when I include travel costs.

I remember looking at the schedule a few years back and noticed there were as many, if not more, special nights than there were regular race nights. Think about it, if they decide to pay the crate late models more on a particular week, the pit fee is increased, but your still racing for the same payout in your division so there is nothing that benefits you. I think the negativity comes from always finding new ways to squeeze a few more bucks out of you. Other tracks do it too, but ppms definitely is the worst at this.

If there was a regular schedule where people knew what it was going to cost on most nights to race and a different promoter was there to thank the racers for showing up, I think you'd see many cars come back.

Vince, I have never had a problem with the racing there, and you're right, lots of bad board were replaced in the bleachers after last season.  One of my bigggest gripes is the road leading up to the grandstands, i drive a car, not a pickup or SUV, and it's like torture getting into the place.  Even if they don't want to have the road asphalted, at least some some of repair could be done.  The car counts are not all that important to me either, but I am curious why so many RUSH Late Model racers who live near the track drive all the way to Latrobe on a Saturday night.  

 

The physical plant is badly in need of repair and lots of TLC.  A little paint on the fences would be nice, hell, since I'm retired, I'd even volunteer to come and help.  I enjoyed every race I went to this year, but would like to see more diversity in their program.  What happened to the ASCoC shows, or the BRP Modified Tour, or an occasional Super Late Model show?  

 

When I talk about the restrooms, there are many tracks that could use improvement, but PPMS once had some of the best facilities.  The urinals are fine, but the toilets are absolutely filthy and many of them have been out of order for quite a while.  I see they have plenty of new toilets in boxes in the men's room, but if they install them and don't clean them nothing will really change. The facilities should be cleaned on a weekly basis, and by the looks of things, they are NEVER cleaned.  These are not things that cost a ton of money, buy it's time that the owners show that they want my business, by making their venue a little more fan-friendly.  As I get older, these things are more important.

 

 

While their admission prices are higher than most everybody else, that has never been a problem for me although I can see where it would be for a family.  I want the place to do well and thrive like it once did, but that will take a little more effort from the owners that they seem unwilling to put in.  Vince, I love the place, and am sorry that I have been ranting a bit for the last couple of weeks, but I'm really disappointed.
