Start 24 cars in the feature..
$2000 to make the feature.
$2000 to win the feature.
No tow and you go home with what you got in your pocket if you don't make the feature.

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.Start 24 cars in the feature..

Never said it was a good idea

GREAT IDEA ! As long as everyne gets the same money for first or last. everyone could just do a Start and Park situation ! Think of the money saved on fuel and tires ! Run 1 lap and put it on the trailer. How very smart you are; BRILLIANT !

This payout scheme would take the race out of racing. Like almost everything we humans do, the profit motive figures very prominently, so if there is no monetary incentive to race hard, and there wouldn't be with this scenario, then what would be the point?

But don't you think that to be fair that everyone should get a trophy for their participation ?

Ok lets throw in a $250 entry fee and the winner also gets their entry fee back, along with 2nd and 3rd place..
Show up, take a green in the feature and you take away from the race $750 or $2000 if you win
No alternates. Get on the track for the feature, take the green or go home with zip.
Everything over a 24 car count will also be throwing $250 into the pot.
Sure would make for some bad ass heats B and C features for the fans.
Any feature at best is between 5 cars and usually less and the little extra for 1st, 2nd and 3rd is definitely going to put some action into the race.
And what makes you think those in the feature ain't racers doing their best to win at all times, but are mostly accountants?
... LOL, name me one driver or car owner who is an accountant.
There may be some but their far and few between.

My problem is not the lack of competition. The local guys are already dumping big money into this hobby. They'll race.
The problem is, where is all of this purse coming from. It's great to theorize about spending someone else's money, but in the end you're still talking about what you think someone else should do with their own money.
I absolutely wish tracks paid more, but it's up to them.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

250x40 cars = $10,000
40x100 pit passes= $4000
yep that's only $14,000 of the $50,000 with needing $36,000 to come from somewhere.
But if it brings fans thru the gate along with more racers they could look at the $36,000 as a cheap sanctioning fee.
I did a quick lookup on the net and with the quick searching it looks like fees are $50,000 plus.
Maybe this racing track business pays back to the owner more then we could even guess?

I think for a take home of $1750 just to make the feature would bring in a ton of cars.
And yes there's been a lot on here about how tracks will attract squat for cars for big money shows.
I think racers will if there not running elsewhere for points will say "heck I'll throw $250 in the pot and gamble on making the feature".
There's going to be a ton of bad ass racing in the heats and b's.
And if 10 after making the feature choose not to race it will also be a bad ass feature to watch.
I think karts have already done more then once a throw your money in the pot $100,000 race.
or i'm remembering wrong

Did a quick obvious calculation.
If 1000 people at the track spend $36 that's $36,000
Or if 2000 spend $18 that covers it too.

Take the Bull by the horns and show us then. Youre clearly thinking on a different level than the rest of us. Put that galaxy brain to use
Dirtstudent2 has such great knowledge and ideas that I believe that a track such as PPMS that suffers from years of having a bad reputation should hire this phenom as their promotor . With someone like dirtstudent2 at the helm , Pittsburgh could have been a contender and an everyday household name for fans of dirt such as tracks like Eldora , Knoxville , and others that have earned the right to be famous . What do you think ?

I have a question. Or two.
The winner gets $2k. Does the winner get start money, too? What does 2nd to 23rd pay?
I need to find something besides this post to occupy my time. So does the OP.

At first he wrote that it was also $2K to start so that everyone made the same money ! So why waste money on fuel and tires to race more than 1 lap ? It would be a win win to break even in racing !

24x2000=48000
The winner gets the same 2000 as everyone else to start the feature plus another 2000 to make it 50,000 total.
Also top 3 get their 250 entry fee back.
What car owner ain't going to throw in 250 for 2000 just to start?
ps... tested positive last night for covid so my pest value on this place may go up faster then the stock market
