Lol. The team could win. Just can't afford two engines. Nice try. Just pay attention next season and you will see I am correct. Hard to race for points when you can't repair your own engine.

Jo73. I would not have bought it. I can't afford to race a crate car. To all of the sportsman crate supporters. What will you have to say when the 33 car wins half of the races and is the points champion? He is a great driver. But also a well funded team with multiple engines. Most guys in this class don't have that kind of money. The new crate rule has just put competitive racing out of reach for the new young racer. If the 33 car races a full season next year they might as well give him the 2016 trophy now.

Jo73. It's obvious that the guys who can't build a competitive engine on their own, like the crate rule. I don't think they understand the costs involved. The crate sportsman cars with the most money will dominate this class. Guys with multiple engines will be track champions. Like you pointed out, a spun bearing or burnt piston was easily repaired before the following week of racing. Now the teams with multiple engines will swap them out. The cost to run for a points title has just slipped away from many teams. And if you had an older heavier car like green car 55 there is know way he can be competitive. Hard to believe a guy that's raced there 20 years and is a former track champion is forced out financially. Very sad.

People who are in favor of old school stock car racing are asking for Mr. Thompson to reconsider his decision to have a crate only sportsman class. We would like it to also include the open motor rule. We know Lernerville Speedway will survive either way. The racing has been great in this class with both types of engines winning on any given night. The old school racers like to showcase their skills of building their own hammers. We as fans and drivers ask you Mr Thompson to change the rules and allow the open motors to compete.

If we want this sport to continue, we need to support our local tracks by bringing our family and friends. It takes money to operate these tracks. If there were 3,000 fans in the seats for a regular show the money would be there. It's all about the fans. I've been a driver, sponsor and will always be a fan. We can bash the operation or we can support it. So instead of bashing lets brag on our sport and get people excited about racing before it's gone.

Mr. Thompson has season box seats at the track. He also sponsors a race car that races there. Sounds like a racing guy to me.
