Well you either limit the shocks or put a claim rule on them to stop the guys with big money run 1000 to 1500 dollar shocks and that's apiece. When I came up with and posted the rules for a western pa sportsman modified division the year before Rush got started I got a call from Stan Lester with FasTrack. The rules package was a good one as far as he was concerned with provisions in it that he wished he had used. One of them being the shock rules. At that point it wouldn't have been good to change because everyone had already bought the high dollar equip. Affordable racing is possible if you keep in check what teams can use. Shocks, exhaust, carbs are 3 things that if limited by either mandating certain parts or a simple claim stops teams from spending stupid amounts of money. Tires can be argued in plenty of directions. One tire as long as one person is not branding and jacking up the price or a couple tires and seeing if Hoosier and American racer want to compete for their loyalty or just leave it open and let everyone do their thing. My choice. Fuel. Leave it open and run what you want. I know what I would do and it sure wouldn't be expensive exotic overpriced stuff. This is just my opinion but I have been around it long enough to see what works and what don't. As far as Mercer. With them exploring on ideas for a fifth division and idea I had borrows on what's running now. Instead of a weekly division do a split division. One being what Rocky said with a crate mod but dirt or rush legal and the other an open wingless Sprint. Just alternate weeks and give the classes a chance to grow.crate mods are the fastest growing class in the area and wingless for the first year sure took off. Only way anyone would know if it would take off is try it.

Open shock rule with a 150.00 claim rule. Refuse to abide by the rule and 3 race suspension results. That opens up the shock selection and keeps teams from spending a fortune on shocks. And padding someone's pocket with branded parts. Mandate the standard shoenfeld header and muffler for cost savings and open the tire rule up so everything is legal. Oh did I say no fuel restriction also. Yes some guys will push the envelope and spend every dollar they have for any advantage they can get but in the end make it affordable for guys to run.

Good things come to those who wait. Let the announcement come then support them 100 percent. It's a huge commitment to take on the ownership of a track in today's world and I'm sorry but everyone that bad mouths or talks down on a track should be truly ashamed of themselves. It's a true blessing to have as many tracks in our area as we do but it shouldn't be taken for granted cause they can be gone tomorrow. Think twice before you start the negative keyboard racing. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Personality I think one of the local tracks should of just tried a weekly run what ya brung wingless division. So much stuff sitting out there chassis and motor wise guys could of thrown something together and went out and had fun. Deerfield talked about doing it for the 305's but in all reality leave it open and give yourself the opportunity for more cars. That bullring is small enough that horsepower is not an issue but if a guy has a 358,360,406 ,410 or anything in between they have a place to use it. Wingless racing is huge west of here but not a single track around here runs them. I know some people are gonna say we don't need another class. I say what's going on around here is not working so it's time to try something new. The BOSS series is going great but it's just not here enough so travel costs become an issue. Need a local track to try it and see what happens. It's that or watch crates slowly take over. I for one would be in for a weekly open wingless division. I already have everything but nowhere to play and I'm short on the funding to go buy everything for RUSH. I'm sure their are enough others out there in the same boat as me to make it happen.
