I would love to promote the truck class and bring this somewhat affordable race class to the masses. I will send an email and help if possible. I think that for this class to travel would be great but for most of us, but the money to travel around for many would be too great. Meaning that we might not get enough trucks to show. By the way, I found that there is a truck class running at a newer track called Hilltop raceway. Maybe we could get some from there to come along. Thanks for all the interest in trucks.
Hilltop and Lakeville have been running the trucks for about 5 years now. They allow V6's and they have a $1,000 entire truck claim rule (not just the engine). They also only pay $150 to win (or at least used to). I checked into these places a long time ago and couldn't get anyone that would travel 3 1/2 hours to possible get claimed for $1,000 and the chance to only make $150. I think Aaron is heading down the right path in talking to Gas City but not sure about Eldora. It's an awesone track but honestly I don't think this class would draw much attention at the Big E. I was at the ARCA truck race and it was very boring!! Keep on digging though Matt & Aaron........you'll find other tracks. FYI.....Stateling is willing to run you guys every Friday for $200 to win but again....not enough interest due to work schedules.

Hey Ogre, how you been? I agree with you......also keep in mind that the arca trucks are putting out pretty considerable horsepower, and were still quite a bit slower than the stock car class. A lot of that might be attributed to about three out of the entire bunch having a clue how to get around eldora. The trucks at waynesfield are pretty much flat foot with the shortest path possible. I don't see that transferring well to Eldora......not enough motor to go anywhere but as low as possible. I'd also predict calendar lap times.

I agree totally...... The trucks is a great way to keep it affordable but could never run at eldora. I watched the arca trucks run up there and you talk about boring. The crate late models wasn't even that good of a show.
I think a lot of that can be attributed to guys that have never run, much less seen Eldora before. It's a different animal than about any other track, and takes a lot different approach to get around there. That said, I still don't think the trucks have enough ponies to be productive there.

This statement is I think out of hand----------some people are in this class because they can't afford that $25,000 + stock car or that $50000 + modified to go racing and be competitive because of lack of equiptment and funds-------- I have raced stock cars and I am begining to race modifieds. If have good money management. stock cars dont cost half that same with modifieds. I will admit that if your getting into a lot of part failures or wrecks it can get expensive but if you dont waste money on piontless name brand things that you dont need to race i think a stock car can run for $6,000 a year. I have done it and I have had good runs. I think that a lot of truck racers have this in their trucks and I think they are crazy. Certain lavish things like Enclosed trailers, but loads of spair tires and big name motors. I have for 4 years in three different classes never having more than 3 spare tires and build my own engines, I dont have an enclosed trailer and i just now got a helmet that i can use tear offs on.
wow...lol. You make good points here! When I raced trucks in 2005 and 2006 I bought one set of tires at the beginning of 2005 and that same set lasted me two years. Granted.....I wasn't involved in many mishaps. Now last year I went thru 12 tires and 7 wheels but a lot of that was due to either my mistakes or wrong place at the wrong time. I had a horrible year last season and most of it was all due to my mis-judgement......and that's just what happens sometimes, you'll have bad seasons. But Sutter makes a good point about being resourceful. Only race to your budget and you'll have more fun.
Dirtracer48......how the heck are ya? I'm hanging in there. I've decided to hang the helmet up and concentrate on my kids activities. I'll still be in the stands from time to time so someday we can sit down and drink that beer!

Absolutely.......I am always up for a beer or twelve. I have all of my safety equipment, but have no plans to get back into anything any time soon either. I am finally in a spot where I have the budget to run competitively in most classes, but I guess I am older, and wise enough to realize there are better things to spend money on.....like a house.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who has $25k in a stock, or $50k in a mod. Lanning built his own chassis, engines, and was way under the stock budget winning modified features. Eh.
I hope no one takes offense to my truck comments, I do think they are a great division, and a good low buck way to go racing. Eldora will not further their cause, but will pretty much make them look stupid.

I just don't see a division that would likely get outrun by the push trucks doing anyone involved any favors.
So what your saying is that if we did get a chance to do this you won't be there to support it by driving, watching, or anything? fine by me

After building your car from ground up or bought and put all the goods into it and raced for a year how much did you have invested? and were you a top runner and win the points chases?.... winning takes money its fact, in any class sometimes you get lucky or you may be a good enough driver to get a car not doing so hot a win... not talking about your car, but when you see somebody with less expierence climb in to a car and do just as well tell me that car doesn't have good parts and a setup witch can cost $. i mean look at the whole picture and it may not cost that much.... never owned one just putting out a real rough figure. and your right an enclosed trailer doesn't make anyone faster by no means! lol the best of luck to you in the futureThis statement is I think out of hand----------some people are in this class because they can't afford that $25,000 + stock car or that $50000 + modified to go racing and be competitive because of lack of equiptment and funds-------- I have raced stock cars and I am begining to race modifieds. Well Dirt racer I see what class you Dont like.As for the push truck comment..........Put your steering wheel where your mouth is! Its really easy to spout the mouth from the stands. No, trucks arent the fastest class but,Its a great way to get seat time.If Eldora did run us it would be huge and a bid step for a small division but you go on with your comments eat your popcorn drink your pop and make your comments at the end of the night myself and abunch of other drivers will still be happy racing trucks! Have a nice dayI just don't see a division that would likely get outrun by the push trucks doing anyone involved any favors.
