Many of the forums are on one subject and completely turn into a different direction. Lets take this forum topic and keep it on track with ways we can help out The Shobe's and WMP on getting more race cars at events, more fans in the stands and just overall ideas that can help improve WMP.. (not saying that its not already an awesome track cause it is :P ) But just ideas that may help out. Like in the other forum the idea of a Charity Event race night would be awesome. I use to be in the car show scene and when someone mentioned a charity event that all money went to a good cause, people FLOCKED in to support the show. We didn't care about trophies, we cared about helping someone out that maybe alittle less fortunate than we are. Lets take this forum and throw out ideas that can help WMP. And please, please please, lets not have any critizing, any e-drama or what not.. Lets keep this topic on a positive note I don't want to step on anyones toes, I just want to see this track grow. I am not a race car driver, just a fan that loves to come to a track that is close that puts on some good shows.

 I agree. I think there are a lot of good people connected to WMSP that really care about the track and helping it in anyway that we can. Most of us are more than willing to volunteer on projects that will benefit the track. I think Aaron's charity event idea is the best idea I've heard so far. He had lots and lots of suggestions within that one posting. I also agree with the idea of a Meet The Drivers Night, either included with Aaron's idea, or as a separate event. I also agree with the radio coverage suggest. I've worked with some of the radio stations in the past for events I've been envolved with, and I'm sure they'd work with us. Any of these ideas will easily get the Lima TV station out there, along with the radio stations. It's amazing what a little positive action will do.

Does that place hold an Fan Appreciation Night for the fans in the stands? That goes over very well at our track. The fans love it when they line all the cars up and they come on the track at intermision time and get autographs signed. The drivers will have stickers of there numbers and candy and what ever else to give out. They look forward to it every year. The track will give out prizes it packs the track every year on that day.

A couple of the ways I have been thinking that could help promote Waynesfield Motorsports Park is if someone that has the okay to use the Waynesfield Logo, to create a Banner Link with it so that many of the drivers that race at Waynesfild can add this banner link to their webpage and when their fans come to their site, they can click on the link and it takes you right to the Waynesfield Motorsports Park Website homepage so they can see the schedule and times for the races. Just like Kyle Conaway mentioned when he was up in the press box. A lot of his fans go onto his myspace page and add him, leave comments, why not have a banner that these fans can click on or add to their site to help get WMP's name out there? It’s a free way of promoting the site and maybe some people that have never heard of WMP can come across this and come check out the track. Will this automatically put butts on the bleachers, probably not but it could have a trickle affect and get more race fans hitting the site and hopefully come to check out what all the noise is about. Another idea that I came across is why not have a race event where certain companies get discounted admission? I don't know what all facilities are around the Waynesfield area but lets use Honda as an example. Have a race where employees from this business can come to a race at a discounted price (maybe like $7 instead of $10) This could help bring people from the area to the track as they represent their company. I think Eldora does something like this where they honor companies with discounted pricing. I have tons of ideas running through my head right now, but I don't want this post to be forever, so I will come back later and post more.

It all sounds great. Maybe a few ideas can be brought up at the drivers meeting in the next 2 races so that the wing and non wing guys can make some suggestions and offer to help out.

It would be great to show the Shobe's that we are all willing to chip in and help the cause.

Fliers on cars or businesses at different locations and towns around the area. I work in a health care clinic and Millstream even had a huge poster up on our door. We see close to 100 patients a day and we are just a small clinic. 100 patients from one clinic times 5 days a week. Theres roughly 500 people that saw that poster in a week for about a month. Post one at a Walmart and you can imagine how many people walk in there in a day. How many Walmarts are there between Lima, Wapak, Bellefontaine, Kenton and anywhere else in the vicinity. If I am not mistaking, this is just a fill in year for the Shobes. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I think they are looking for a long term lease. These ideas would need to be presented to that person or whoever they have promote.

Find a sponsor for the track to print up some fliers, give me some tape and I would "go to town."

i think if everyone would get together on this and with all the racers willing to help and it seems as if there are quite a few we could make a huge difference ,i for one would like to pack the stands for one of our so called lame shows . just a thought . maybe have a predrivers meeting to have a plan to say something at drivers meeting in a construtive way .cause we can get a lot done all pulling in same direction .

If Dean Miracle don't take the place over, I hear there is a new group of investors looking to possible try to obtain the track. If things come together as planned, I will be announcing something shortly. Nothing is in concrete, but some pretty interesting things are going on behind the scenes.

heck i live in st.marys and would love to hand out some fliers i even have a printer/scanner i could get some paper and make my own little fliers and put them on peoples cars. were having a nice little softball tourney here in town this saturday and i will make sure to run my mouth to everyone thats there about waynesfield. and then theres a huge softball tourney in st.marys next weekend and i will do it again and that would be a great place to hand out some fliers. how cool would it be if waynesfield biggest lame show turnout of the season came when jeff had just quit because the track aint going anywhere. lol

Hey Jody, you seem to be involved with mostly late model racing, (it seems, please correct me if Im wrong) just wondering if these investors are interested in a format similar to the current one with maybe adding the stock cars back? Or are they looking to start something a little more late model based? I understand if you cant say at this time. I was just wondering, no biggie.

Thanks.

How about a 2 day show: Car show in a certain area of the parking lot- with each car show entry the price will cover 1 ticket to the Saturday night qualifying races. Our 360 class will be the headliner with qualifying laps for heat positions. Headliner for the saturday qualifying would be a vintage sprint race (maybe contact steve meyers from steve meyers service). Make this a full field of racing for both nights. Sunday run all the A mains. Give out some local camping areas and motel info for the out of towners. have door prizes to be given away at different times all night on both days. have the 50/50 drawing both days. Bring in a band for the saturday night after race. Find some corporate sponsorship for some larger payouts for all the classes, Invite a local radio and give them around 20 or so tickets to give away ahead of time? Just some of my thoughts.

If the idea of having a car show during the day and the races that night as an event get approval, that would be not bad at all to pull off. Like I said before, I used to travel the car show scene when I had my car and when I sold it, I have been helping people put on car shows. There is not much really to it. First pick a date, then get flyers made up to pass out, post up at stores (napa, autozone, walmart etc), get registration papers made up, and voting sheets for the cars to display on their dash so you can see who's car it is and where they are from and helps to judge them. Get a few people together to be judges, make sure you have people that know the cars, the older and newer cars. Then when it comes to door prizes, do like I did, go to a town and start going door to door and let them know that the track is sponsoring a car show and would like to see if they are willing to donate anything as a door prize. Of course they will ask for a letter detailing out the show and who its put on by, and it will have to be on letterhead of the track. They do this to make sure its legit. But you will be SURPRISED on how many people will donate stuff. First off, its free advertisement for them, plus, they take these items they donate and can claim then on their taxes. It’s a win win situation. The last car show we held, we had easily over $700-900 dollars in door prizes. Walmart donates gift cards, gas stations do too, restaurants give gift cards, car stores give cleaning supplies or accessories to give away, and on and on. Just make sure at the show to mention the people that donated the gifts. And we can't forget our friendly WMP Photographer SkinnyKenny.. This would be a perfect opportunity for him to have a booth where he can take pics of the owners with their cars and get their information and maybe sell some pics to them. Then after the car show, end it with a bang with some dirt track racing WMP Style...

Also, I know they had a tug-a-truck once but my wifes cousin is one of the originators aned directors at the one in Wapak and they always get a huge turn out. I could help if interested in getting that maybe during the day then races at night. Just another thought to think about.

I've been to a few races before where they have had a two seater sprint car give rides to the fans. I can't remember the guys name that owns the car but l might be able to make a few phone calls and find out. Tell me fans wouldn't line up to buy tickets to strap in and take a few laps with in my opinion one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport, JACK HEWITT, that is if they would let him drive it. Just an idea. I even race and if I was there that night, I would be the first guy in line to buy a ticket!!!
