when i went to unoh i was building a car for limaland and it was a basic camaro car with stock front and rear subframes. the engine was moved back and was still a leaf spring car but put the mounts for a 3 link. if you really want to stop allowing guys to run clip cars with 4 links. make them run a stock style suspension. #3Posted 01 June 2009 - 07:12 PM you have a point i have been going to races for 25 yrs and they have cut the stock cars back 3 or 4 times in that period of time but it always seems to get out of hand, i always wondered about 2 classes modifieds 2bbl and 4bbl cause the cost to build either a stock or a modified is close to same . the stock cars you have now are limited lates at a lot of tracks . it would appear that what is needed is a more economical class cause the stocks have gotten away from that but they are a competitive group of drivers and mechanics and whatever rule you would come up with they would still figure a way around it in time ,but at least one class needs to be less costly to be involved to bring in new racers #5Posted 02 June 2009 - 07:30 PM
LOOK AT ENGINE RULES. NO ROLLER CAMS, NO ROLLER ROCKERS,FLAT TOP PISTONS, ALLOW ALUM. INTAKE WITH FOUR BARREL HOLLEY AND LOWER WEIGHT RULE TO 2,800 LBS. AFTER FEATURE. BET YA BE ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. JUST REMEMBER DEAN HAS DROPPED THEM AND LIMA IS LOOKING AT ALLOWING TRUCKS TO RUN WITH THE CARS.
#6Posted 03 June 2009 - 07:50 AM dean dropped them for one race cause they have had low car counts because there has been like !4 cars show up last couple of shows #7Posted 03 June 2009 - 08:09 AM
Dean did not drop them for good. He only dropped them for the one race because he had 5 classes running that night and decided to drop the lowest cars count class for the evening. He has also added them to the AllStar night at WRP.....so they're not dropped from our schedule.
Now on the other hand, I agree that the current stocks are more like Limited Late Models. However, I'm not sure that throttling them back would gain you in car count. I'm not sure what the counts are like at Oakshade currently but they used to run C-Mains because they had such high car counts in the bomber class. So, I don't know maybe a class like that will work better, but you are asking a lot out of guys to have to build new cars. No question in my mind that this class has went overboard a little over the years but it is what it is now. I also thinik that the local tracks like the class the way it is because these cares are so fast and put on a great show.

Just dont look at the car counts look at the stands , car counts and fans are down because of the economy. That has a lot to do with it. I know your talking about the class is getting out of hand. I will sorta have to agree. Take off the fenders and you might as well say you have a mod.

i havent been out that way since i graduated from unoh over a year ago but the rules on the stock cars are wild they need to take sometime over the off season and revamp the rules completely. #13Posted 03 June 2009 - 09:02 PM I don't think that changing the rules to make the cars slower and more affordable will affect car counts. Gas City has 2 basic stock classes and are getting 6 to 10 cars to show up? Although I would like to see a motor limit and more consistency between tracks so we could race anywhere, I can't see it happening any time soon. Every class has decent cars, good cars and great cars, that’s racing. No one needs to start racing in a great car. #15Posted 05 June 2009 - 10:54 AM dont think that would work, for example i could buy a lot of good used parts cheaper than buying new and the used would blow the new out of water. big price diff in used versus new. so there is no way to judge how much u spend on used parts. they should in my opinion run a crate motor with leaf spring cars and no modified set ups. so ur basicly might as well go ump stock
IM BACK................

You're missing a 1 in front of your estimate. #17Posted 06 June 2009 - 10:58 PM
There is some issues you can look at that will help the cost in the stock class. For example, the bow tie intakes alot of these races run on there motors, are actually more expensive than alluminum intakes. Then again lets take the SPRINT CARS. That class is always the same top 4 or 5 with the biggest check books. Its like dejavou every week watching them. Possibly a crate late model class or something. Just to throw the thought out there.

Although I think there is probaly a couple of high dollor motors out there, there are alot of $1500 to $2500 motors that are still competitive.I think if they go to a crate motor it will eliminate the little guys that peice a motor together on a tight budget. A crate motor you would have to come up with that money all at once and if you blow it you would be done. How would the tracks tech these motors to make sure everyone was the same. I would like to see a cubic inch limit, say 360 cu.in like the sprints. This would make it easy to tech, more dependable, and alot cheaper to build. Now to the chassis & body, Body I would not change to much, they are fairly cheap to buy, easy to build your own, easy to pound the dents out. I would get rid of the tail peice, saves $120 bucks and makes the body and back bumper easier to build. get rid of all spoilers, just adds to the cost. Beadlock RR only saves money. I dont think mod tires will work to good on a 3000# stock car since they are designed fo a 2300,2400# car. I would leave the front suspension the way it is. they should probaly try to get the rear suspensions back a little closer to stock. no swing arm , 4- bar etc. I think there are a lot of people afraid to build a car for this class because of all the rumers out their on what it takes to win. But the truth is if you put your time in ,do your homework, and learn how to drive this is still a affordable class that does not need alot of changes. Car counts are down in every classs.

or how about stop complaining, and leave the class alone. Is there good racing going on, YES! so just leave it alone...Like the trucks, its gonna cost more to go backwards. not worth it. Its funny most of the people that complain are never at the front because they cant get to the front!
