WoW , I for one Don't like the looks of this revision Looks like the biggest losers are the 360 Sprints! Too bad , cuz I know most of the guys like runnin there. And I thought the car counts were O.K.? We Sprint fans (with wings) were hoping for a Fri. and Sat. nite gig for Sprints in this area , like Fremont and attica has
As of June 6th , looks like they went from 8 shows to 3. And an ALL STAR Race was eliminated too.
Note - I am referring to the schedule that was printed out for the Findlay Mall Show
(I always keep early schedules in case of revisions) this is how I plan my race attendance all summer. This method gives me a backup track in case of changes
Hate to break it to ya's , but this is a sign of a struggling track The lower gate prices were the first hint.
I am behind WMP and a fan of it !
Everyone needs to start talking and FORCING friends to attend , The "FIELD" has alot of potential !!!! I hate to see it turn into a track that can only support "SUPPORT" classes!
Bold reply..., but must say it.
"support" classes?
PERHAPS it's better stated that the fans of those support classes, are those who have supported the 'field......
Why, exactly is that????/ Great racing in the "BIG" divisions...... Great race teams, racing regularly, but few fans come to "support" them?
Not sure I understand it, and all I'm saying is where else can you go to get 5 hours of GREAT racing entertainment, at such a reasonable cost?
C'mon out to the Waynesfield Raceway Park (and bring some friends). It truly is the best kept secret in racing............... Enough said.

Tonight it seemed as tho we had more people in the stands to see the races and we did not run 360s. We did get 31 non-wing cars. That is double last weeks 360 count.
This just doesn't make any sense to me??? Most of the 360s are from this area so I would think that the stands would have more fans show up to watch their family/friend/neighbor/or coworker than would attend the races to see alot of guys from Indian and Michigan. Anybody have ideas as to why?
I have visited quite a few tracks that were in an area that we visited while on a family vacation and we didn't know anybody racing. That was fun but not as much fun as cheering on a guy that you actually know and run into around town every couple of weeks. Now I realize that some of the non-wing guys are local but more than half live at least more than an hour from here. And the races were finished by 10:30pm again. It was a great night of family entertainment.
Even though WMP and Limaland race on different nights they are still competing for the same fans. The reason I say that, is because the way that the economy is at the moment most families will only be able to attend one night of racing per weekend. So if you have 2 wing 360 shows together, most families will have to choose. At least they can see something a little unique with the occasional non wing show. Kenny you are right great car count last night, and a good car count at the last non-wing race. It was a great night of entertainment, can't wait for the next non-wing show.
Great job Dean and crew, the track prep made for some awesome passing in all the features.

bingo.A lot of those fans could of been from the out of state sprints.
As for the low count last week, there were other races going on. the All Stars were at Eldora and a lot of people arent coming back because of the "if you dont like it, dont come back" philosophy.

in my opinion, please note i was not there last night, but i do not like to see the non wing guys almost completely stop in the corners and gas it for 3 seconds down the straightaway. there is a cushion for a reason. when everyone runs the bottom and slows way down, it is pretty boring. no passing whatsoever last week except Westfall and Burkin.Even though WMP and Limaland race on different nights they are still competing for the same fans. As for the fan count 30 May 2009 - the forcast called for rain. People had just dumped money into the friday limaland show without getting refund they were not going to roll them dice again. Dean is no dummy, he knew he was up against Winged Sprints at Eldora, Winged Sprints (World of OUtlaws in driving distance)..... silly not to recognize that.
As for the car count - A bunch of ideas for you.
Boughan & Williams were still putting together their cars from the 23 May race crashes at Waynesfield i think
Eldora - (All Stars fans and a couple cars) Blaney, Wilson, Schroeder, Hunter, Blair, Chaney
I 96, (World of Outlaws fans and couple cars) Grubaugh, Daggett, Mann, Naida
I suggest you give em a reason to come, a point fund for the top 10, top 15 orrrrrrr piggy back off a sanction, the 23 May cars were there because they are running for NRA or SOD/ASCS Points that is why you had many of those 33 or so cars....
schedule 8 races with NRA if they don't want to then make em SOD/ASCS races instead and they will come, the ASCS will not turn down shows and the SOD guys are loyal to their sanction, they can't necessarily afford to come down from michigan on a saturday for 700$ to win and 150$ start money and 50$ show up money on a off saturday for them... but if it's part of their five digit end of year ASCS point fund, then it's worth their tow. i
f a 360 guy wins 20 1,000$ to win races at the field it don't pay for the motor yet, so why hurt the motor unless it's part of their big season picture.. not everyone has unlimited funds to go cherry pick with Outlaw and All Star Drivers whenever they wish, many of the NRA & SOD guys are barely making it to the next race and can't afford to tear it up otherwise...
sorry for the ramble... but you don't have to be a rocket surgeon to figure the above out and pulling the rug on scheduled shows is NOT going to get you more cars next time.
One other option have a car count payout 20+ cars = normal payout.
-20 cars - 10%
-15 cars - 20%

They need to do a better job of spreading the word out. Two words-Press Release. Use it. Its free. Waynesfield needs to post results, news, events, and photos EVERYWHERE.As for the fan count 30 May 2009 - the forcast called for rain. Plenty of passing last night, with a cushion. 2 grooves in 1 -2 and 3 grooves in 3 - 4. And recognized a lot of the normal local fans in the main grand stands.
It was a fun night. Glad we went, cant wait untile the next one.
