The revised schedule came out when the number of 360 shows were cut back but the ALMS LAte Models were still on there for Aug. 2nd. Just noticed that now there is no Aug 2nd race, does anybody know when this happened. Before you head out the door to the track on a date you think your scheduled you better check the schedule to make sure you are still running. We were spreading the word yesterday that the races were rained out and we talked about the Sunday race and now it's gone! We are pretty sure it was still on there after the stock cars were taken off after the Sprint Week race.

The only Late Models I can find on the UMP website for Sunday August 2nd is clear up in Canada, but you could always take him up to Attica to watch their Late Models on Friday night. Just a thought.

We ran with the Late Models on July 10th and we stayed and talked to a ton of people and when we watched some of the races that night from the stands we talked to alot of people and they 99% of them said they were coming back on the 2nd to see the Late Models again for only $10 instead of $20 so I know it was still scheduled at that time, hope they find out before they make the drive.

Just recieved the following statement in an email from Dean "After we had the summernationals race we did not hav e enough fans to support a late model race so we had to take the date off. Mini sprint race will be scheduled later in September thanks Dean" If this were the case then why are they still scheduled for Sept. 19th. I thought for $20 for grandstand and $30 for pit passes that it was an outstanding crowd, so sorry I ain't buying it.

The Summer National Late Model show had the biggest crowd of the year. But we were still about 500 people short of the number needed to pay the purse. You don't have to "buy it" but Dean still had to "pay it."

:( Was looking forward to the ALMS show but I also understand that bringing these guys in would have cost Dean some major bucks and the track just isn't getting the crowd that it should be. The racing has been awesome by ALL classes. Hope to see some racing action next week at the field :P

Man I hate to say it. Some people on here say its a buisness and it is. Looks like as of now. The track needs money to back it. To get through the tough economic times or just close it down for a few years. You cant change the schedule every other week based on car counts or fans in the stands. Its a buisness you set goals stick to them. If you suceed great. If you fail well at least you stick to your guns. Based on my many visits to the track. The actual racing is great. The whole place just doesnt have a great racing atmosphere. This is my take on the place. Fans need to see their favorite drivers every week. Not once a month or year. If the fans show up they should know with out a doubt what cars are racing. Like someone on here said 20 years ago there was no internet to check schedules payouts results. What it all comes down to. If your not loyal to your fans and race teams. Fans and race teams wont be very loyal in return.

We went to watch the Late Models @ Oak shade and im sorry I just dont get it. Oakshade had alot of fans in the stands, but Waynesfield doesnt.
Oakshade makes Waynesfield look like a clay Daytona/MIS ( thats a compliment to WRP) Oakshade had 50 or so bombers and 30-40 Sportsman Latemodels and around 30 Late models. Add that up at $25.00 a head and see what yuh get.Mind you thats not including pit crews! The track was turning black during hot laps so I wouldnt think they have the car count because of the racing surface, so what is it?! I looked at the track photographer's pics and appreciate Skinny Kenny even more. No offence to the other photographer.
Im not trying to Put down Oak shade, just comparing the two tracks and trying to understand why/how they can make money and WRP isnt? I realize the changing of the schedule hurts the track but If the track goes belly up there wont be a schedule at all. I also realize that times are tough but thats the case all over and didnt seem to hurt their car counts. There is a reason why things are how they are, I dont know what it is but lets hope they find it soon!

hey punkin those car counts may look good but oakshade used to get twice that number of cars and the FIELD is a nicer track than oakshade but they do pack in the fans up there but i think being 20 minutes from toledo helps plus they like thier latemodels up at oakshade. the field has great racing but i do agree amending the schedule all the time is confusing for racers and fans .i understand the ecomonic decision by dean but it hurt fan base and racer base for that matter

I know it's been disappointing to see many classes or racedates removed from the schedule to everyone. As far as comparing Oakshade and WRP, that stumps me also. I agree that stability of classes adds to return fans and racers. One thing that Dean has tried to do this year is test the market to see what classes draw the best crowds and put on the best shows. After doing some experimenting where do you think he stands right now? Right back to where we were a few years ago. The Non-Winged Sprint, Modified,Truck, Mini Sprint, Compact classes seem to work best at WRP. I think next year what you'll see is these 5 classes as the base classes and we'll throw in some "special" shows for the other classes. Oakshade has been around much longer than WRP and they have already built the stable fanbase. WRP is the newest track in these parts and it's went thru several promoters but we're still here. Dean signed a longer term deal when he leased this track and I'm pretty sure he's testing the waters to see what works for WRP but unfortunaletly we're in a recession this year and that don't give a clear picture (wow talk about a run on sentence....lol). At any rate, please hang in there and the stability will come but we can't continue to run the place into the ground by running show after show that loses money. When things pick back up I'm sure you'll see these Late Model and 360 sprint shows kick back in also. Lets all be a part of the solution and not part of the problem. We've tried many of your ideas this year, some have worked and some have but we'll keep plugging away.

I think alot of the people in the stands at OS were family and friends of drivers. Of course you have your regulars but when you have 3 features of bombers alone you know most of the people are with them. I did see some fans from the field there too, including our family so there's 7 people that would not normally be there. Wonder how many Fremont regualrs traveled over there since they rained out? The economy is terrible, we have missed several races that we would like to have attended at other tracks but when it costs a family between $40-$60 just to get in the gate for general admission, chances are, you are only going to one race that weekend. Thanks for the Attica idea. That track is ok, you just sit soooo far back from the racing action. Maybe we can get away with taking him to ride go karts and putt putt. lol I haven't told him yet, trying to find a replacement idea first. :P

heya Paintman I have only been to OS twice so I dont/ didnt know what the car count was like in the past. And agree with Danny's thinking on
the classes that run WRP. Great racing and your not there all night. The times I cant afford to race I still go watch just because Its good action in ALL
classes. When it comes to good racing I think WRP is the place to be. I do miss the stock cars though, I know thats a rough subject but its all about progression.
And as I mentioned before adjust the payout instead of dropping the class.

i have to agree that stable divisions racing would be a very big help to fan base and race teams. look at limaland they have a good crowd almost every week and i think a lot of that is because you always see the same teams there because they run their regular classes all the time. 360s run there every week and they get over 20 cars a weekend then you throw the mods and stocks there (even with low car counts some weeks in these divisions) they still keep them on the schedule. I for one like to see the regular guys each week. no offense to waynesfield but at the rate they are going they are just going to start not making a schedule telling everyone to come to the track, count them when they get there and send the low counts home if your not going to keep ur schedule then dont make one. one or two changes fine but seriously dont start taking each class out because of the low car count one week

...AND WE HAVE A WINNER! This place would be difficult to promote at this particular time ... no matter who the promoter was ... need to create an atmosphere ... not keep changing the climate ... tough deal ...

Oakshade is the trump card to most tracks and the word "normal". As far as our car counts there have been an few times that we were over 50 in the lm's and a few times that we were under 30. The sportsman and bombers are consistant though. One forgotten class is our newest one, the hornets. It's a beginners class for 12 to 18 year olds with no racing experience. The class has grown from 2 cars to darn near 20 in one season. Folks come to Oakshade for 1 reason and one reason only...they know what they are going to get for their $$'s. $20 for the pits and $12 at the gate no matter who or what is racing or how much the purse is increased. We also have the extra added attention to the younger ones during intermission that keeps the night rolling on during down time. As far as the "friends and families" in the stands go...correct. Lots of them also...tells ya something. I wish Dean nothing but good will in getting Waynesfield back on track or to the level it should be at. LM's should have been a no brainer for Sunday dates. The drivers liked the place and the fans that went had nothing bad to say about it. I think perhaps all the eggs were being put into one basket on the SN deal maybe. I am sure they were counting on a lot of Oakshade fans to make the trip south for that date but there are usually a few hundred fans in the campgrounds that night for the track party. More than once throughout the day I heard the phrase "It's like it's the World 100 around here.". even more the day of the race. Maybe that's what's missing...the magic. You know what I'm talking about...the goose bumps that pop up at the mere mention of a particular race. That's what you need!! Bottom line, it doesn't matter how nice your facility is it's what you do with it that keeps folks coming back week after week.

As usual everyone has great comments and concerns.my question is what happens to the sponsors that sponsor any given class that has been cut? example:If I sponsored the station wagon class and that class was cut.Is the class sponsor guranteed a certain amount of races for a certain amount of pay? example: I give WRP $1000.00 for a min of 10 shows and they only run my Shaggin Wagon class 4 shows? Where does that leave me the sponsor? How does this work? Im not sayin I would sponsor a station wagon race but its a example without getting people amped up, if you own a station wagon and take offence ......... Im sorry.

IF YOU ASK ME THEY NEED TO STICK TO THE SCHEDULE FROM THE GET GO. SOME PEOPLE PLAN A RACE SEASON AROUND CERTAIN TRACKS. WELL AT WAYNESFIELD YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I THINK THAT THEY NEED TO LEAVE OUT THE BIG MONEY RACES, AND JUST PAY MORE MONEY FURTHER BACK IN THE FIELD. THAT WOULD GIVE THEM A BETTER CAR COUNT. THEN A BIG CAR COUNT WILL PUT MORE BODIES IN THE STANDS. I HOPE THIS WASTED SEASON IS ENOUGH FOR THE PROMOTER TO GIVE IT UP.
