oohhh nooo. That is my sons birthday and all we have heard since the original schedule was posted was about him watching late models on his birthday. I don't even wanna tell him.......
Anyone know where late models may be running that day? Hate to disappoint an 8 year old. lol
The only Late Models I can find on the UMP website for Sunday August 2nd is clear up in Canada, but you could always take him up to Attica to watch their Late Models on Friday night. Just a thought.

The Summer National Late Model show had the biggest crowd of the year. But we were still about 500 people short of the number needed to pay the purse. You don't have to "buy it" but Dean still had to "pay it."
We went to watch the Late Models @ Oak shade and im sorry I just dont get it. Oakshade had alot of fans in the stands, but Waynesfield doesnt.
Oakshade makes Waynesfield look like a clay Daytona/MIS ( thats a compliment to WRP) Oakshade had 50 or so bombers and 30-40 Sportsman Latemodels and around 30 Late models. Add that up at $25.00 a head and see what yuh get.Mind you thats not including pit crews! The track was turning black during hot laps so I wouldnt think they have the car count because of the racing surface, so what is it?! I looked at the track photographer's pics and appreciate Skinny Kenny even more. No offence to the other photographer.
Im not trying to Put down Oak shade, just comparing the two tracks and trying to understand why/how they can make money and WRP isnt? I realize the changing of the schedule hurts the track but If the track goes belly up there wont be a schedule at all. I also realize that times are tough but thats the case all over and didnt seem to hurt their car counts. There is a reason why things are how they are, I dont know what it is but lets hope they find it soon!

hey punkin those car counts may look good but oakshade used to get twice that number of cars and the FIELD is a nicer track than oakshade but they do pack in the fans up there but i think being 20 minutes from toledo helps plus they like thier latemodels up at oakshade. the field has great racing but i do agree amending the schedule all the time is confusing for racers and fans .i understand the ecomonic decision by dean but it hurt fan base and racer base for that matterWe went to watch the Late Models @ Oak shade and im sorry I just dont get it. heya Paintman I have only been to OS twice so I dont/ didnt know what the car count was like in the past. And agree with Danny's thinking onhey punkin those car counts may look good but oakshade used to get twice that number of cars and the FIELD is a nicer track than oakshade but they do pack in the fans up there but i think being 20 minutes from toledo helps plus they like thier latemodels up at oakshade. the field has great racing but i do agree amending the schedule all the time is confusing for racers and fans .i understand the ecomonic decision by dean but it hurt fan base and racer base for that matter
the classes that run WRP. Great racing and your not there all night. The times I cant afford to race I still go watch just because Its good action in ALL
classes. When it comes to good racing I think WRP is the place to be. I do miss the stock cars though, I know thats a rough subject but its all about progression.
And as I mentioned before adjust the payout instead of dropping the class.

...AND WE HAVE A WINNER! This place would be difficult to promote at this particular time ... no matter who the promoter was ... need to create an atmosphere ... not keep changing the climate ... tough deal ...Man I hate to say it. Some people on here say its a buisness and it is. Looks like as of now. The track needs money to back it. To get through the tough economic times or just close it down for a few years.
You cant change the schedule every other week based on car counts or fans in the stands. Its a buisness you set goals stick to them. If you suceed great. If you fail well at least you stick to your guns.
Based on my many visits to the track. The actual racing is great. The whole place just doesnt have a great racing atmosphere. This is my take on the place. Fans need to see their favorite drivers every week. Not once a month or year. If the fans show up they should know with out a doubt what cars are racing. Like someone on here said 20 years ago there was no internet to check schedules payouts results.
What it all comes down to. If your not loyal to your fans and race teams. Fans and race teams wont be very loyal in return.
