Waynesfield, Ohio 4/29/06
Waynesfield Motorsports Park began the 2006 racing season with the 1st night of competion on Sat April 29th. Almost 90 drivers were on hand to to enjoy the start of this years racing season. The 1/4 mile dirt track was tacky and fast which provided exciting 2 and 3 wide racing to thrill the fans.
The orange #11js modified driven by Josh Scott started on the outside of the front row and lead every lap of the feature to score his 2nd win in 2 days. Scott was also the winner at Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday night. The #50 of Buzz Jacobs was super fast but never really could get a run on Scott. Shawn Oconnor drove a smooth race to finish in the 3rd position.
The truck class provided the most competitive race of the night. #9 Bill Harmon had his Ford Ranger handling perfect. For the entire race, #4f Scott Fisher, Derrick Noffsinger, and #31 Dan Kelly tried to find an opening to pass Harmon. The crowd was on it's feet as a blanket could have covered the top 4 trucks. Harmon drove a mistake free race to edge Fisher and Kelly out at the finish line as contact leaving turn 4 sent Noffsinger sliding into the infield.
Two long time local stock car veterans lead the field in the their feature. The blue and yellow #1x of Jerry Butler lead the way with #9g Bill Gross in hot pursuit. Butler worked his way thru lapped traffic to take the win ahead of Gross and #55 Kyle Brandwie.
The white #4 Dodge Neon of Nate Mailhot barely held of the challenges of the red # 97 of Terry Eaton Jr. to win the compact race as a little paint was traded on the last lap.
The mini-sprint class saw #20 Jarrod Horstman pull away from the rest of the field to begin this year the same way he finished the 2005 season, in victory lane. The black #5z of Hank Zimpfer finished 2nd and Aaron Moloney brought the green #311 home in 3rd place.
#34 Luke Hall finished the 2005 season at Waynesfield with a win and started this year off in the same fashion in his black non-wing sprinter. The crew chief on Hall's car definately hit the set-up perfect. Halls sprinter shot out of the corners like a bullet while lifting both front tires off the tacky track. #40 Mark Hery and #6c Cub Burden finished 2nd and 3rd but never really provided much copetition for Luke Hall.
Their were only 3 yellow flags in a total of 6 a-main feature events on the night. Fans were treated to a spectacular night of racing and were beginning the trip home by 10:00pm. Waynesfield Motorsports Park wants to invite everyone out to see another great night of racing as we hold our 1st "Meet The Drivers Night" of 2006 on Sat May 6th. All 6 classes of cars will be competing. Gates open at 3:30pm. Hot laps start at 6:00pm with racing at 7:00pm
