I saw on the Indiana open wheel board that Bill May of MMSA said the 3 Waynesfield dates are canceled.

Just checked MMSA web site and all 3 are cancelled.........

OK Here We Go! I have not done this in a long time, but Enough is Enough!!!
I am NOT going to BASH anyone, but here are the FACTS:

  • Promoters and Race Directors Need to Work Together IF They want Decent Car Counts in the Same General Market Area!!!
  • Local Tracks and Their Promoters Need to Help Each Other Out to Bring In The Fan Base and Race Teams at Two (or more) Venues! (You Promoters Need To Work Together, IF You Want a Piece of that Entertainment $$$)

Now This Is What I See As A Former Racer and now a FULL-TIME Fan: (This just so happens to be my Opinion-Based only on Experience and Attendance, and A Hell Of Alot of It)

When I visit Lima, I am seldom dissappointed in the car counts ( the Recent Recession has offered a few of those dissapointments over the last few seasons, but that is understandable). Limaland is their own worst enemy when it comes to losing regulars!!! ;)

Eldora, Well even with the HUGE dissapointment this spring, they have already recovered!! But they have HISTORY and the $$$, and we all know that! Thanks Earl ;)

Waynesfield Is A Great Racetrack, most Drivers Like it, and that is a Plus!!! But as a Fan, it is Not going well right now and I believe the low car counts and scheduling conflicts are the reasons :( I am always in the pits when I attend, however I did go up to the stands this past week to watch with friends some of the events (doing my duty as a fan and getting more people out to the track) and while I was up there I heard alot of people (Some Bitchin) but (Wondering) why some classes of cars had more than others (obviously they were new fans)
A Promoter needs to Always Think of that NEW FAN B)

Now more than ever that Entertainment $$$ is very Valuable, and for that $ the Seasoned Fan or Rookie wants Decent Car Counts!

I thought as a Lifelong Race attendee, that 8, and 9 as car counts were Unexceptable and Sorry, but BORING!!! (2 visits same low counts in same two classes)

Features are what make Dirt Track Racing what it is, and when you have a four car heat and then a five car heat, and then a 9 car feature, face it, it just Sux.
(Now I know some of you will want to argue that there were 21 a few weeks ago in one of these classes, but face it, it is now June already and no sign of consistency! And the other class has not shown any growth, even from last season?)

I think Waynesfield would be better off Dropping these two classes and Start thinking of the Fan, and give them what they want (Good Competitive Car Counts with Classes That Can Provide Them)

Just A Thought, and as you all begin YOUR Opinions Remember THIS ONE WAS MINE WHICH I AM ENTITLED TO AS LONG AS I AM GOING TO SPEND MY $$$$ THERE, and that I am a big supporter of Waynesfield!!!
I want to see WMP make it, therefore I beleive it is time for a tweekin or two, enough is enough! <_<

racechasser: You make some good points. But keep in mind, if Dean does any 'tweaking' to the schedule, the same handfull of people will crawl out from under their rocks, and start bashing the hell out of WRP again. I agree with you, and said pretty much the same thing about the Mini Sprints in an earlier post in this thread "Where the hell are the Mini Sprints?" Like you said, car counts under 10...come on..... If this class wants to be a regular item on the schedule, they have to do better than that!! Once again, I'm not cracking on the owners/drivers that are there (they have done their part). The compacts. I don't understand why the car count is so low. They have picked up a -few- more cars, but still, without 20 of them, there isn't much excitement. The highest cars counts at WRP seem to be the non-wing Sprints, Modifieds, and Tuff Trucks. I'm wondering if for the 2011 season, Dean might want to make those 3 classes the anchor classes, and sometimes rotate in the 360s/winged sprinters (which have had smallish car counts except last week) and maybe a big show or 2 for the Mini Sprints.

Thanks Need 4 Speed: I just call it like I see it ;) That does not mean I am always right? Would like to see alittle Tweekin to the schedule! Since the season is young, now is the time to do that. I was very critical of WMP last year, and bitched about the schedule changes too, but I had invited out-of-towners at one point, think that is why and it was alittle accessive, However I think It just might help them this year? I have decided that this Race Track is worth it :) All Eight cylinders are not all workin together yet, But it is Improving in some areas! I won't go Into all that right now, but I will continue to observe. I do have one suggestion as to the support divisions: You already know how I feel about the compacts and Minis (No Show, then Gotta Go) Car Counts are crucial, believe me! I would NOT give them many more chances IF any! I seen on another post that there are only 3 more points races at Eldora this Year for the stock cars, so I looked at their schedule and that is correct. Sat. June 19 Sat. August 14 Sun. Sept. 5 Bet If the promoter got on the horn and offered some Incentive (competitive payout or Better Payout) to these guys, a good car count Might happen and track loyalty could evolve? Lima averages 20 and Eldora between 25-30. They also bring alot of fans, just look over in the pits at Lima when these guys come out, and watch that fence fill up ;) And No I'm Not an Avid Stock Car Fan, although that is what I drove years ago  But I will have to say they do put on quite a show! I am there for the Sprints myself. Just giving constructive advice (trying to) and my opinions, cuz I can B) Promoters envy a full pit and fans love to see it when they roll in, and it is time for WMP to start concentrating on that before the pockets run dry. :) Wishin them the best!!! Just a suggestion, and my $.02 and If you Don't Like My OPINION? I DON'T CARE ^_^

I sorta have to agree on 3 point races left for stock cars and only 4 mod races left at eldora. The season hasnt even really gotten started ,not much left for the stocks and mods.

You know I would like to see the stock car class come back and lets make some changes. Make them run mod tires and start a "new" class. You know about every team out there can get ahold of some decent used tires just like the truck class did or buy new just for waynesfield. Can you imagine how many guys in the stock cars would love that. Same price for tires and a lot more traction and better handeling. I say give it a go for a weekend. I bet they bring in more money than the mini's do with only 9 cars. I think it would bring people to the test and tune days also so people could try out the mod tires before race day. Remember you can pick up decent tires for 20.00 each according to post on here.

I don't agree with the stock car idea........

On a stock car of today, there isn't much at all that is 'stock', they are damn near a Modified now. Look at how much of that 'stock car' if fabricated, and not a 'junk yard' part.

I think ya' might as well just run the Mods. From what I've been told, there isn't that much of a difference in price, and things are more 'standardized' with a Mod. Plus you can run them just about anywhere with the same basic UMP or IMCA rules. The rules for a 'stock car' in just PA, OH, and IN are so hugely different, it's unbelievable!

Once there is a big demand for 1/2 burned up Mod tires, they won't be $20, trust me. The truck guys don't have the HP needed to spin those tires, but the stockers are running some pretty powerful engines these days, and will finish off the used tires, and need more.....higher demand=higher price.
