After looking at the schedule for Waynesfield I noticed their "Doubleheader Weekend" coming up July 9th and 10th. I want to make a suggestion to Dean Miracle about the schedule for those two nights. It would make a lot more sense to flip the night you are racing UMP Modifieds and Non-wing Sprintcars. With modifieds on Friday night you will be competing for cars with Union County, Montpelier, and Moler. The only track in the area racing mods on Saturday is Butler, so competing with 1 track instead of 3 makes a lot more sense. With sprints on Saturday, you will be competing with Gas City's Indiana Sprintweek show. I don't even need to go into the reasons why that is a bad idea. Since Lima is not racing Friday it might even be a better idea to race 360 winged sprints that night. Doing it the way it is scheduled now will result in lower car counts in both divisions. A simple change of moving the sprints to friday and modifieds to Saturday would make a lot of sense.

Matt Westfall competes for points at both Gas City and Waynesfield...gonna be a tough choice.

Maybe don't run mods that weekend and run 360's instead then. I just noticed Gas City is racing them with their sprintweek show the 10th also. So you're going to be competing against 3 other tracks for cars whichever night you have the mods.

Matt is leading the Waynesfield Points and is 12th in Gas City Points. How is that a tough choice? There's only 2 Waynesfield regulars in the top 30 in Gas City points. I really don't think car counts at either track are going to be affected much. As far as the mods go, don't much think theres gonna be much of a difference there either. We'll just have to wait and see. If the mini sprints dont show, I have a feeling they may be cutting their own throat, but thats just my opinion, take it as you will. See everyone this Saturday for another great night of racing at the field.

With the race at Gas City being sanctioned by usac I would say it's not going to be a points race. But either way Matt will be at Waynesfield. It only makes sense to come to Waynesfield you dont need a huge motor to compete like you would competing with usac and it's less of a drive.

The 360's have nra point shows both nights , the 9th at moler and the 10 th at kc . I dont think you will get enough cars either night.

Deans never gonna cut the mini sprints or the compacts he doesnt have to pay either division that much. Dean only throws divisions together that are cheap and then expects everyone to sit through one fast division and 3 slow divisions every night. Thats why i only go there once in a while and not a whole lot

Sounds like no matter what classes run both nights are going to be rough at the gate for the promotor.

I think it's an optical illusion. I'm not a certified officer that can verify speed by eye, but I know the minis are going pretty quick. Maybe its because they stay square instead of having to "pitch" into corner so there isn't any variation in speed. Maybe its just their size that makes them "appear" slow. Either way everyone has their preferance and is entitled to their opinions. But all classes are very competitive and do put on a good show. I appreciate every driver and fan that attends waynesfield. Hell, just lock the gates then.

WRP has no right to have a race on the same night as any other track in a 3 state circle.........

Do you seriously think that a guy from the Lima area is going to tow to Union Co, Montpelier, or Moler, when he can make a 1/2hr drive to WRP????

As for the non wing cars: Truth be told, there are only a few non wing regulars at WRP that can hang with the USAC boys. A regular show at Gas City is still a tough nut to crack, and honestly, winning a race at WRP is tough to do also.

However, the USAC guys have big time $$ in the newest and light parts, new tires all the time, and top shelf screaming motors. Going to Gas City for sprint week and 'putting it on' the USAC boys isn't likely......and don't forget, it's a longer tow for nearly ALL of the WRP regulars. More fuel in the hauler=less profit (or more of a loss) at the pay off window.

Just the facts man......

It was just a suggestion that in my opinion would benefit Waynesfield in terms of car count in both classes. You'll get your regulars, but outside of that its going to be thin. 2 nights in a row will compound that. Working with other tracks should benefit WRP. Example: Jack Hewitt Classic (at Waynesfield) qualification by winning a feature at Gas City. Sounds like a good way to encourage more Gas City cars to go to Waynesfield right? So how do you say thanks? Schedule against Gas City's biggest show of the year. Brilliant. Ignore what other tracks do and keep working against them and those gates will be locked because people quit coming. And if I have read correctly, there aren't that many coming as it is.

Apparently you can't understand the point of my previous message.

NOTE: The following is NOT a slam on the sprint cars that run at WRP. The regulars put on a great show, and are darn tough to beat when 'outsiders' come in.

WRPs non wing class, has guys running a multitude of engine sizes, somewhat older cars and engines, low buck teams etc. There are just a handful of cars and drivers that can run with the USAC boys.

It's not the cars and drivers with sponsors known nationwide, and 2 new cars ready to go in the shop, paid mechanics and crew, with guys driving them that race for a living/are racing 3 times a week...that is USAC.

There isn't a lot of competition for cars and drivers, between a USAC Sprint Week show at Gas City, and a regular program of non-wing cars at WRP.

And apparently you can't understand the point of my original message. A simple, small shuffle of classes in a two night program could result in a greater number of cars and fans passing through the gate. If even 1 more car chooses to come, that is more money in the promotor's pocket.

Whatever you say chief..................... But explain to me why Lawrenceburg is running their Sprint week show on Friday night, and Gas City is running it's Sprint Week show on Sat. night??? Sure seems backwards to me, and maybe done on purpose, especially since USAC has their new rule that penalizes any USAC driver in the National Driver Championship that: Races in a non USAC sanctioned race at a track that doesn't have a USAC race scheduled that year of any type, and is within 200 miles of that nights USAC race, and happens within 24 hours prior to or after a USAC race. Gas City and Lawrenceburg both have USAC dates this year, WRP does not, and both tracks are within 200 miles of WRP. Sounds like USAC is racing against WRP, and against any track that can't afford USACs high priced sanction fee......... BTW, I heard first hand last night from a top runner at WRP, that they weren't going to run Gas City on Sat., they would be at WRP!!

USAC scheduled Lawrenceburg Friday and Gas City Saturday for travel purposes since the Sunday race is at Kokomo. Instead of going from Gas City to the Burg, then back to Kokomo, they flipped their nights to reduce travel expenses for teams that race the whole week and fans that go to all of them. WRP might get a couple cars that don't want to race against USAC, but I would imagine you probably won't see Welpott, Messeraul, or Weir like you did last night. Westfall will go to WRP and maybe Steve Ott.
