Friday July 9th and Saturday July 17th removed from Waynesfield schedule. WAYNESFIELD, Ohio Waynesfield Raceway Park is very disappointed to have to announce the removal of the racing programs on Friday July 9th, and Saturday July 17th from our schedule. We have made this difficult decision with our fans best interests securely in place. We feel that we owe it to our fans to put the absolute best program in place for you to enjoy, and with several other tracks in the area running the same classes, the car counts would not be conducive to putting an enjoyable show on for the fans. We will still be running this Saturday July 10th with the Lee's Hydraulics Non Wing Sprint Cars, Fowler and Hadding 1000cc Mini Sprints, Miracle Motorsports Tuff Trucks and JR and Sons Service Center Compacts. Pit Gates will open at 4PM, Grandstand gates open at 5PM, Racing at 7PM. General Admission $12 for ages 16 and up, $6 for ages 11 to 15, and kids 10 and under get in FREE! Pit passes are $25

WOW!! 5 days before a race and you scratch??? Thought it didn't matter what show was running at Eldora this year WRP was still going to race, funny that it's Kings Royal weekend on the 17th and you wonder why no one supports the place!!

Part of the problem is big mouths like you who sit and lurk through half the season then kick WRP when it's down.
Don't be part of the problem Steve. Be part of the solution. Bring Becca up to race. Hell, she was one of the fan favorites. If there were more cars and teams that supported weekly racing instead of trying to make their kid a NASCAR superstar, the racing economy wouldnt be as screwed up as it is.

Just my 12 cents....inflation you know.

Lets see you wont run Lima, you dont run eldora but yet you most always tend to dog on Wrp. Dont bite the hand that gives you a place to race. Its no money out of your pocket if only a few show up.

I'm pretty sure if it was his choice instead of his car owners, he would run other places...

I'm not starting anything, it doesnt really matter to me...ill go elsewhere and watch. but i realize the work, dedication, money, blood, sweat, etc that these drivers go through to put on a show...and its heartbreaking to some that do all this and dont get to race. especially the ones that cannot race often.

i'd run lima or eldora if the choice were mine to make. if you mean the number of mods that show up by "if only a few show up", how can you expect to get cars when you run once a month and then cancel . montpelier gets 25 to 30 cars and they pay less, but you know they are going to race, so cars go. Waynesfield is my favorite track, and i've said that many times, to other drivers and other tracks. "dont bite the hand that gives you a place to race", when they only run once a month its not like they are doing anyone any favors.

after watching limaland for 1st time this year i dont blame him for not going there, those collage kids wreck alot of people..and maybe he dont have the motor to run a big half mile track... in my opinion i dont see why the mods aint there every week and i dont even own 1

...ill go elsewhere and watch

With a comment like this why are you wasting your time commenting on it. thats whats wrong to many people bitching about things and they dont even support a track . maybe you should just take your comments and go else where.

I'm pretty sure what i meant by that is if Waynesfield cancels, there is nothing i can do about it...theres no point in throwing a fit. therefore, i will be a race fan and support OTHER local tracks rather than sit at home...i didnt know that i was barred from visiting other tracks...geesh

Because just like before he changed his screen name, he's still a little kid who wants to play with the adults.

wow i cant believe you all are so suprized that the are canceling shows.... If you couldnt see this coming you havent looked at the stands all year... If he wants to get people in he needs to do his job and promote!!! i know you all say he has billboards and is on the radio, but i live in troy and i have never heard anything about WRP or seen a billboard..... come on you cant get a billboard that is on a back country road that 5 people drive by a day... or pay for an add that is on some station that doesn't go from lima to dayton like 102.1 or 101.7...........

Promote promote promote what do you people want him to do stand on a street corner and yell it out. To promote takes money and he has given it a try. Any one who is a racing fan knows that this track has been there for what 6 or 7 yrs. I dont see any thing around here on fremont or attica. Most promoting goes by the internet and it is out there. Fremont attica lima and eldora are all on the internet. I dont see any promoting around lima about Montpelier, only when some one posts it on racestud. Every one has answers but no one will spend 12.00 bucks to get into the grandstands. But yet you expect a little guy like Dean to keep reaching in his pocket and handing it out.

Been to alot of tracks over the years. Waynesfield being one of them. I have said it before Waynesfield has some of the best racing around. The place is just dead when it comes to atmosphere or excitement for the fans. Some places i have been the racing wasnt that great but the place was buzzing people were going nuts. I was wondering why. Then I noticed some drivers had bad blood with other drivers. Nothing major just some fun on the front stretch after the race. I came to the conclusion a little side show does wonders for putting people in the stands. Just look at racestud. The only time it gets big post #s when there is some side show topic. Lets face it people want to see a train wreck. Nascar attendance was going down. What did they do started letting them bang wheels again.

Listen up you bunch of whine asses, would you rather dean cancel 2 shows when he knows the car count and crowds won't be there, or run them any ways and loose his ass,and then not have a place to run next year at all? Dean is a guy that gives his all for racing, but he is also a bussiness man who nows what the hell he is doing. give up 2 races to save the track from loosing money is a no brainer!!!!! if you want a track to be able to run at in the future STOP WHINNING!!!! I have know Dean for a long time and I don't agree with him very much, but one thing the man know's how to do is promote a track! Give the guy a break,he is doing everything in his power to put on great shows, the problem is there are so many tracks that run on saturdays, and with the economy and the shitty weather this year your lucky he is still open at all!!!! Just give the guy a little slack, instead of bashing him for what he does, try thanking him once in a while!

Thats whats wrong its a business. This form of racing used to be fun and inexpensive. Now just about every class is expensive with minimal pay. The whole program is being run like a business. Most racers at this level even treat it as a business. Heck how many people show up to watch you work????? I work all week I don't need to pay 12-30 bucks to feel like I'm at work. Been on both sides just as a fan and involved with a car. Last few years its all seemed like a job and a bit robotish. No fault of DEANs sometimes business fail. Thats the reality of it. The tracks been around for awhile so far people aren't buying what Dean is selling. The economy is down but people are still spending money on entertainment. So Waynesfields business like approach is not entertaining enough.

I think the writing is on the wall, you may have to read between the lines, lets just hope next year the owner runs the right classes
