A pretty reliable source said Dean himself told him tonight that the season is over at Waynesfield, and that he's done with the place. Really hoping this isn't correct....

Thats pretty much what I heard. I for one would like to thank Dean and his crew for the hard work they put into it. I wish it would have worked out better but now it's time to move on. Let's just hope news is fast in coming for the future of WRP. I know there's a lot of racers depending on the track being in operation next season.

Great way to put it, and I agree. As much as I want to be pissed about it, I have to thank him as well for his efforts and all he's done for everyone.

Sad.....................

Dean, thanks for giving it a go. I can't say that I ever had a night at WRP I didn't enjoy the races.

Always had good car counts, and great racing action, but for some odd reason, the fans just can't seem to support the place.

Hopefully, 2011 will be a blowout year for WRP!!!

If WRP is done, then all the people who constantly bitched about WRP, run it and the people who worked there down, and promoted against it on this site as well as others...(and more than likely never went to WRP, or only went a couple of times) well, I guess you got your wish!

All that brilliance and expertise about all things racing, and yet your brown-nosing still wasn't enough to keep the place open. Racestud isn't a strictly Waynesfield site, so promoting "against it" on this site isn't something to be critical about. It's a shame for the fans and workers that supported the place, but hopefully it will be open again next year and continue the non-winged sprint car racing that has grown there. If somebody does take over next year, I hope they are willing to work with promotors of other tracks in the area, rather than scheduling races and working against them. Race tracks are closing too fast as it is. We don't need them trying to take cars and fans from each other and end up closing even more.

HRF, I don't understand your post. A comment knocking at Dean trying to belittle what he has done for racing then another stab at waynesfield. Why can't people be as passionate about WRP as you are about the indiania tracks? I have no issues with you supporting ANY track. I love racing....period. It just seems that WRP was going to be wrong no matter what they did. WRP was supposed schedule around everyone else? I agree it would've been great for tracks to work together, but didn't an Indiana track run mods lastnight? That goes against your own preaching. As I've stated before I have absolutely no problem with you supporting the tracks you do. To be honest I think you actually do a great things to try to attract cars/fans. But if anyone does the same for WRP they are groupies or have their heads shoved up an @$$. I too hope WRP continues and ALL tracks grow. I am just old enough to remember what racing "used to be". I tried to support and help promote the track I went to the most. Do you have a problem with that? I always tried to bring extra people with me to the races, and almost every night, I accomplished just that. Matter of fact, the night of the Hewitt Classic, there were 20 of us in my group. Heck, I even grilled a hot dog specifically for Skip during our tailgate party. :D I would stop and talk to the track's workers, and Dean, and thank them for a great night at the races. I went into the pits and talked to the drivers and car owners, and thanked them for putting on a hell of a show. Plus I only missed 4 races at WRP all year. I did what I could to support the place.

What did you do to support it? How many times did your 'know it all a$$' go to WRP in 2010? How many people did you bring with you when you went?? Did you go to the Hewitt Classic?

If you don't go to WRP, why in the hell do you post on their forum??? Just to stir things up....there is, and can be, no other reason.

No sh1t, Racestud has several different TRACK SPECIFIC forums, who woulda thunk it!? Yet you still would promote a different track on the WRP specific forum (among other tracks specific forums). You never saw me advertise about WRP on your favorite/closest tracks specific forum, did you? You never saw me bash your favorite/closest track that I didn't attend, did you? Let me answer those questions for you (since in the past you have been unable to answer a straight question).....-NO!

Promoting your track, on it's own board, what a crazy idea! Maybe you should try it! You post more about a certian track, on other track's forums, than you do on it's own. Notice that I don't mention that other track by name...it's because I don't want to bash that track. I have no reason to. It's not that track's fault that you go there, and are it's biggest cheerleader.

You are just a internet TROLL. You can go back under your rock now.

LONG LIVE WAYNESFIELD RACEWAY PARK!!

Jeremy, I understand they can't make their entire schedule out based on what other tracks are doing. When another track is having a major special though, like Indiana Sprintweek at Gas City for example, WRP didn't do itself any favors by scheduling against it. Car count was pretty good, but fans in the stands were thin. That is the part that WRP has struggled with, which is why I mentioned that whoever promotes it in the future should try their best to work with tracks in this area. I tried to encourage that track in Indiana that raced mods last night to give them the night off and run something else. I have several friends that I talk to regularly who work there, and I got the impression that they didn't want to help another track that had repeatedly scheduled against them. NFS, I respect the effort you put into getting more people to your local track. What I do for the local tracks in my area is honestly no different, so that's not my problem with you. You were delighted to get on here and refute my statements earlier this season about car counts at WRP when they ran a conflicting event against GC. I said they wouldn't get very many cars or fans, and they still had a decent number of cars. I ate crow and had no problem with it. But as mentioned above, fan support has been the problem. You've talked about how great the racing is, which I'm sure has been very accurate. But for some reason, despite what you have said, people haven't supported the place. So, now its your turn to eat something. I wouldn't see anything wrong with mentioning a race at WRP on the Montpelier forum if the same class wasn't racing at Montpelier. I don't know if you are under the impression that the Lima and Eldora forums belong to Waynesfield too, but posting about races at another track when they aren't racing doesn't seem like it would be a problem.

Was there any mention of a banquet for Track Champions or anything about those that had perfect attendance for the 3 chassis they were giving away, those classes for the chassis were truck, mods, and non sprints I believe?

HRF, What I was trying to say in my post is "we" can't have it both ways. I commend you for your efforts in doing what you can to bring people to support "your" tracks. And I have to say shame on "us" (wrp) for not not doing more of the same. But it seems everyone gets bashed for supporting racing. Isn't that backwards thinking? That's what is great about our country is we have the choice to go to whatever track we want and the freedom of speech to support those tracks. But people prefer to use those freedoms to cause more harm then good. We will never live in a perfect world so racetracks will always compete for cars and fans. If "we" would stop trying to tear eachother down, maybe we could make some progress. After all "we" are the fans, we need to get together to get the sport to grow. If just one guy goes to a promoter to make a suggest it will be blown off. But if a group of people approach a promoter with a suggestion for the greater good of racing, well you may stand a chance. But I don't think just one track has to make sacrifices. Has to be give and take.

When you say that "it's over", do you mean the track is done for good? On another board there is a rumor stating that the track owner already has a promoter in mind for next year, and possibly folks from Eldora running the place. Hopefully that is true, but who knows.

hrf: Again you didn't answer any of the questions, which says volumes about you, and your reason/reasons, to post on the WRP board..

If you don't go to WRP, why in the hell do you post on their forum??? Just to stir things up....there is, and can be, no other reason.

You were flat out wrong about the car count the week GC was running the USAC Sprint Week show, and since you popped off so much like you knew WRP would have no cars, you deserved to catch some hell!

I can't force people to drive to the track, or to spend their money, so how in the world is it any of my doing that "people haven't supported the place" as you said. That's out of my control chief!

You sure didn't support the place, or do it any favors!! So once again I say> If you don't go to WRP, why in the hell do you post on their forum???

Whoever it is, I hope they give WRP's facilities a shot in the arm, money wise.

A 'sprucing up' and updating is needed, but that takes some deep pockets. Also, the deep pockets are needed to weather the storm of low fan counts, so that the place can get a stable footing on the fan base.

I have heard absolutely no complaints about the speed of the program, or the action on the track, and very little complaints about track surface conditions.

The majority of things I heard were about having to walk so far to go the RR (yes, the porta johns are fine for a guy, but most women and small children won't use one) and the long walk to the concessions (several nights the food trailer wasn't open). Also, some folks complained about the 'cobble stones' behind the stands, at the ticket booth, and in the driveways making it hard to walk.

Plus a better catch fence system and some more lighting would be a nice step up too.

It takes $$ though.
