Patrickw, It's probably too early for that. Dean just stepped down 3 days ago. I don't think we will get an answer to that question for a few months. I'm sure Mr. Shobe. (Land owner) would like to see it used. Maybe we as drivers and fans need to sit all the promoters in a room and try to get them to work things out. But then again its a business no matter how you look at it and less competition allows more opportunity for profits. I, just like many others, have ideas that I'd try if I were the promoter. But I'm not, and I have no interest in trying. Just sad to see a racetrack close no matter where it is.

Hopefully they find a new promoter soon there is a lot of teams that race ONLY at Waynesfield Raceway Park would really suck to work on or rebuild your race car over the winter to find out there is no place to race it. JMO

This from pitgate I stopped by Millstream today on my way home from work and talked to Dean Miracle who was out there working on getting the concession stand up and running. He said that Rich was coming out Friday to get started mowing and getting the place ready for the 3rd. Dean told me that he was going to be running the concessions for this race and next years races and Rich would be running the races and the rest of the facility. While I was out there today he got all the stuff out of the building and the kitchen equipment all cleaned and in good working order including the grill, the food warmers, the fryers and popcorn warmer. He said he was hoping to have it inspected on Monday or Tuesday. I will probably stop back out again on Friday and see if I can get a word with Rich. It sure is nice to see some positive things get accomplished out there.

Go figure: Dean might learn something (maybe) and yeah running the concesson stand he won't lose any money he can make money on someone elses dime and do what he's been doing all year ie --- don't advertise and you can't run V8 trucks against Fremont WRP won't win that battle

WELL SAID, I know it could work in that fashion. They need to take advantage of the free advertisement INTERNET, that will take some time but once up and running you can cut and paste change the dates and classes. MONEY MONEY MONEY, It takes up front money to get it rolling so I'm guessing Shobe will have to kick in if there's going to be a WRP next year. We'll just have to see how things shake out. Again just my thoughts.

That don't really mean anything regarding Millstream. That was planned way before Dean ever made this decision. However, I know that working at Millstream makes much more sence for Dean and his family than WRP does. Millstream is in the same town that Dean lives in. At WRP Dean had to sta in the camper if he had a bunch of work to do.

This whole thing will work out for both tracks and owners/promoters. Greg Shobe is a great person and he'll find the right guy/gal to help WRP to continue on next season. And I personally think Dean Miracle and Rich Farmer would make a nice team for Millstream. I want both track to succeed. Although my passion is deeper for WRP since I live so close to it and really like the track owner.

I think those of you that talk about what classes should be there have good points. The trucks could run other places but that would be clear over in Eastern Ohio and they would be running against some V6's. This is one of the charter classes for Greg and I think it would be one that stays. The compacts would be super nice if they could stay. Their pit gate alone pays more than double what they are getting as a purse. The class pays for itself over and over. I think it's a great way for the younger crowd to get started. My son is 15 years old and I think he's learned quite a bit in that class thus far. I sure hope they have it back next season.

I also think the mods should run regular shows.....they always put on an excellent show!

For you stockers......I think it would be nice to see you guys/gals back also. I would like to see more combination shows with the truck class (V8's). I would also put you on mod tires and allow aluminum intakes (most good cast intakes cost way more than you can get a victor jr aluminum intake for). To balance the trucks and stocks I would either give the stocks a weight break or add weight to the trucks. dan i agree with you dean with do well at millstream and mr shobe will get someone to run the track if he wants to keep it open(i hope so) i dont think hes found the right match yet as far as a promoter and the classes more mods bring back stockers and they need to be on hoosiers and both kinds of sprint wings nonwings and i know some people dont like the trucks and compacts cause they say its like watching paint dry but how else will you get your next crop of racers, not all of them will move up but some will and make the place fan and kid friendly to the 2nd power well i hope someone gets to run the FIELD and employs some effective tactics to draw in the crowd because there is always good racing there whatever the class may be

I really think the great sprint debate could be easily settled. In my mind I would work with Limaland and Gas City. I would alternate the winged 360's and the non wingers. I would try to work out some duel track shows with the two previously mentioned tracks and possibly a dual points deal.

I think the tracks that are doing well (Eldora, Limaland, Gas City) could also benefit by helping some of these other tracks out. i think it would help the attendance draw at all tracks. It doesn't hurt Lima or Gas City because they are both Friday night tracks. I don't want to see any midwest track close, it's nice to have options but in order to keep those options we need to make it worth it to the fans and racers. Oakshade packs the house every week. They keep their ticket prices the same no matter what show is running (not sure how well that works....but they draw the people). They also have many interactive things for the kids every night.

Just my opinion only but here is what I would try at WRP:

Classes: Mods every week, stocks/V8 trucks every week, compacts and 4 cyl trucks rotate weeks. Then the headliner would be a rotation of 360's and non wingers.

Make kid friendly activities (play area, games, always have meet the driver events) I also liked it when Dean had his track truck and they gave the kids rides with a driver during the national anthem. You could also have a drawing for the kids to be in victory lane for a free photo.

We must get the word out and make sure surrounding areas know that WRP is on the map. I personally handed out flyers for Dean at Indian Lake, Bellefontaine, Urbana, West Liberty and Degraff. People are so busy now and they use different media guides to get info. It used to be a local paper thing and the word got out easy but that isn't the case now. We need to use many different media fascets. Many of them are free to use such as giving the results to papers and radio stations. I know Gerry had his articles in many publications and we just need to keep hammering that. We need to try to tie some events together such as festivals, bike runs, car/truck shows. Kinda a scratch my back I'll scratch yours type of thing. Bring your ticket stub from our even and you'll get $2 off at their event type of thing. You can do that with resturaunts also. If you buy a large 2 item pizza then get $2 off at WRP.

It's going to take multiple ideas and one idea isn't going to do it........it's a bunch of work but I sure hope we get it going. I will alwyas be willing to help out WRP in any way I can in the future. Andy James & Cub made many improvements to this place from a physical standpoint and Dean gave us all some awesome "BIG" races to watch. Dean always gave it his best and we're grateful for that. It's going to be great to see the next person come in and take it up antoehr level. Like them or not each promoter has given this place a facelift and more recognition.

Orge, How can you say in one breath the area tracks have to work together, then the next say you would run mods and stocks every week? That is not working with Eldora. Why do you think Eldora does not run every week? To give the car the option to run elsewhere.
