Ok I will add my thoughts too since it is an open form. I think the truck class is ok the way it is. I've often said that the only thing I would change is allow cross matching of manufacturers ie....Chevy chassis with Ford engine. This thoguht sounds great but it may also drive up some of the costs to people. Hence, I think the class is good enough the way it is now.
I really think the reason the numbers were down last season is also due to the trucks being scheduled so many nights. They ran every night including the Wednesday shows. The truck class is a fun class to run and has grown. I think it peaked a couple of years ago but can still be a nice class. I think if you get 15-20 every week then it would be nice.
Sure, there are trucks out there with some really nice power but just as Racer50 said....it all started with doing your homework. They may be fast but they found a cheap way to get that horsepower. You have to be able to put together your own engines and hire a good machine shop to help out with the machining.
My vote is to leave the class the way it is.

just sitting here reading all the quotes and ideas i have raced trucks for a couple of years had a lot of fun , for one there is a truck weight 2400 lbs if you weigh alot over this the more weight the more power you need to to go fast thinking about getting back in to it ,the reason i got out been ran over to many times , drove through to many times by seasoned drivers of stock cars and modified divisions ,spent more money on replacing bent parts and sheet metal than engine whether it be ford or chevy engine parts, connecting rod lengths ,cylinder bore , and piston compression distance are used in more than just the 4cylinder engine just talk to some machine shops around they let you in on some things if you are getting some work done watch racing alot at waynesfield trucks put on a verry good show when they race side by side like what was said before but when you drive through a racer and not around him or her thats not racing thats high speed demoI will tell ya Skip you said a mouth full. Matt always wanted to get into racing, and when I let him drive my truck (into the wall ) one night he was hooked. I was working that night but from the way Dad described it he was smiling from ear to ear, even though he finished against the wall. Also a little known secret, Jerry Butler attributed getting so fast this year from eating an extra go fast hotdog at the track. I don't know what WRP puts in em but the secret ingredient must be a speed additive

Goober is 100% correct in saying that the truck class is a bunch of guys that love to race and will help each other out! To be honest
I miss racing the truck and the people I raced against,the trucks are about the most affordable class that Ive seen, I know sometimes 10 bucks is alot of money
and it stinks when you cant seem to get in the top 5 sometimes. But I can also say, MOST of the guys will help a slower/less educated driver to bring
him or her up through the year. Mike Hicks & Big Bird helped me with some handling issues (yea even though its a chevy) and Keeler & Keysor helped with afew more Ponys!
Which proves my point, I knew none of the people mentioned before I started racing the truck, as far as the faster class goes? Any racing fast when your
door to door.Most of the class seem to embrace a slower/newer driver to get them in the action as well, they wont tell all but they do tell enough to get you close!
That shows the pride and respect racers have for one another and the truck class is a PERFECT example
