Wow we have access to a machine shop? Where's it at I would love to take a tour. lol I guess the old man does have a drill press and a press if that is considered a machine shop. Also stock motors dont work as there is up to a 50 hp difference in makes. I remember when we ran stock, and all we did was put oil on the track. Blowing up mottors every other week is not fun.

Last year we had a complete tear down and rebuild done on the 26 truck. Also put on a new stock carb. Everything on the truck is according to the rules. We spent some bucks last year, that was much more than we had since 2006 when we started racing it. Guess my point is.......you can put as much or as little into truck racing as you want. The 26 was a front running truck. It's in the set-up, like the other guys are saying. We've dropped out of racing due to the money/sponsor issues and the fact that Jessica is in college and very busy with too many other things. We hate seeing the 26 sitting in the garage and idle on Sat. nights. We sure wish the truck class much success and hope to see the count pick up.

from the way it looks some of the front runners need to help out these newer guys instead of scaring them away. no one wants to race a truck anymore because as a beginner theres no point. there were some GREAT handling trucks out there in the last 4 years with great drivers that never won...some hardly ever cracked the top 5. to see the same few guys at the front every week discourages people from racing them...which is why the counts are going down. pretty soon we wont have to worry about people winning because they will all be sitting at home with the trucks in their garage and no where to run.

I think it's more about the economy then engines. The compact class is having trouble getting new cars and getting cars to race every week and they're cheaper yet. Far as I know there's only one of them that isn't completely stock. So I'm sure they're not being scared off by engine builders. No your not getting full fields in all classes but that doesn't mean the racing isn't good.

I've seen the front runners helping several trucks out through out the years as I make my way around the pits and I'm sure others have helped each other out in the pits so if someone has issues I'm sure help is no more than a question away. However it is more the obvious that some trucks are creating a whole bunch more horsepower than others when the green flag drops and their trucks can launch down the front stretch and already pass 3 or 4 or more trucks before they get to turn 1 and it has nothing to due with the speed coming off of turn 4 to get the green. Not knowing or wanting to know what the rules are you will always have people who will build their equipment to the maximum of the gray area, its also unfortunate that some people will sacrifice safety of themselves to gain some speed and no I'm not accusing anyone of that before someone jumps on that. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION no finger pointing or anything like that. Until the rules are black and white and the loop holes sewn up and trucks are tech ed weekly you will have fast trucks mid-pack trucks and the ones in the back chasing their dreams. Many people bash the trucks but I think their feature races are exciting.

This sounds awesome, would you be willing ot help out and tech the trucks? Just kiddign Underbird....I know it would be tough to tech and handle the firehose.

The rules are written the way they are because we have so many different brands of trucks and initially they needed to be that way because we wanted brand loyalty like in the old stocer days. Personally I would like to see chassis/engine mixtures allowed, but it's not up to just me for the rules. We take input from all the racers and they are right before the season started the drivers wanted things the same as they are now. We had a mixture of drivers there. To tech the trucks the right way you need to tear the heads off them and do some measuring. When you do this the drivers want the track to buy them new gasket sets. We do have a protest rule in place and we have had a claim rule in place....both rules have only been used once and the truck was found to be legal. If any of you drivers or fans have any good ideas that you don't want on a forum please feel free to send them to my email address at kellyracing31@yahoo.com and I'll be glad to take them all in. You r comments will remain private and not spread throughout the division.

I agree doing any kind of tech would on the trucks/ any class would be a nightmare. I will stick to my duties in the infield and you can have fun with them on the track and in the pits !! :P
