If a Western/Northwestern Pa. track offered a weekly payout like that the grandstand admission would be $20 and pits would be $30-$40 to get in.
Also they would have to have 4-6 support divisions to pad the back gate.
That's right. You'd have to completely change the philosophy of the tracks around here. Too many promoters take the easy back gate route.

Exactly right. There are good tracks in this area who do not draw in a month what The Grove draws in a week. Business climate is much better there than it is here. Much more corporate involvement. They have a huge population area to draw from and the people show up. We unfortunately don't have the population to even think about it....JMO

Like you said you could be wrong. Mercer upped our win to $1500 not $2000.I could be wrong but 2 years ago wasn't mercer paying $2k to win the weekly sprint feature?

The Grove is $14- $15 front gate, plus Lernerville pays out $21K - $22K total for all divisions, compared to the Groves $17,300 for sprints only. And the question becomes, why do western Pa sprints deserve that kind of money? If they could compete with the Grove contingent I would say yes, however most would struggle just to make the show.

The Grove also has 358's.I believe the 358 purse starts at $1000 to win.The Grove and Lernerville pay out a similar amount of money. If my health is good,I always make a regular show at the Grove at least once a year.We always stay in Dillsburg. On Saturday we go to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing at the Latimore Valley Fair Grounds in York Springs,Pa. It's just south of Dillsburg and well worth the trip. Try it!
The museum is awesome! We went there before the National Open a couple of years ago.

Uh, yeah, I don't know where to start here.
First of all, no where in my post did I say the Sprints would be the division to get a purse commensurate with what the Grove pays. Secondly, even though they are third favorite on my list of the top three divisions, the SLM's, out of fall divisions in this region have the quality, numbers and drawing power to command such a purse. It's a pipe dream anyway, because it will never happen.
It isn't just what the Grove pays versus our area's tracks. There are two other high paying 410 tracks out East/Central Pa. in Lincoln and Port Royal that pay great, with Selinsgrove hosting nice paying shows occasionally. It isn't just one track, it's a culture, like with Big Diamond and Grandview that pay Small Block Modifieds really well. And they all pack the fans in without a Goddamn Crate LM or E-mod to be seen anywhere.
If a track would pay more than average around here for 410's and increase it a little yearly, eventually they'd start to pull quality cars from Ohio and those that struggle in Central Pa. But, that's the White Elephant, isn't it? Why would a promoter stick his neck out around here when they make a nice profit with the crap that some of them run? That's the difference from Central Pa. to here. Those tracks sell the product. Most of our tracks sell endless divisions of cars going in a circle.
