since now the Grove is paying $4000 to win for a REGULAR Friday night feature..I wonder if any track around here would even pay HALF of that to a division weekly....and what division would you pay it too?? remember RACEWAY 7 paid $2000 to win back in 2000 and got 40-45 Super Lates weekly but then half of them started to give up when they couldnt make the amain weekly and didnt come back. Sharon paid $1700 to the Sprint winner back in 1991 when Todd Shaffer made a joke of our sprint field weekly what track class would you try this with??? Id say EMODS ..you would get a TON weekly!!! Here is the Grove payout WEEKLY for 410 sprints 1. $4,000 13. $350 2. $2,000 14. $330 3. $1,300 15. $330 4. $1,100 16. $325 5. $1,000 17. $320 6. $850 18. $315 7. $700 19. $315 8. $600 20. $315 9. $550 21. $315 10. $500 22. $315 11. $450 23. $315 12. $400 24. $315

The Grove does a great job of running a show as it should be run. Quick, efficient, not too many classes and exciting.

If a Western/Northwestern Pa. track offered a weekly payout like that the grandstand admission would be $20 and pits would be $30-$40 to get in. Also they would have to have 4-6 support divisions to pad the back gate.

That's right. You'd have to completely change the philosophy of the tracks around here. Too many promoters take the easy back gate route.

They have a huge population area to draw from and the people show up. We unfortunately don't have the population to even think about it....JMO

Exactly right. There are good tracks in this area who do not draw in a month what The Grove draws in a week. Business climate is much better there than it is here. Much more corporate involvement.

I love the Grove's payoff. If you want to have some fun, check out the payoff at Knoxville,Iowa. K-Ville pays $3000 to win but the overall purse is nearly $5000 more than the Grove. The payoff at Knoxville is very deep. The point fund is unreal-around $250,000!! I'll bet if I asked real nice somebody would post the entire payoff at Lernerville for a Friday night show.I think you will find Lernerville's total payout to near the Groves total payout. Before you ask-Knoxville pays way more to the 360's too! Knoxville is the King of short tracks.

Check this link out for a comparison of sprint payouts. Ross updates it when he gets new info - last update looks to have been in April.

Most of those tracks have updated their purses since that was printed. The big thing at K-Ville is the middle positions. Most are twice as much as the Grove. Something to consider though is, the Grove runs more dates than Knoxville.Go to Knoxville's web and click "Championship Cup".The weekly purse is posted there.Check out the Nationals Purse while you are there. All 3 big Eldora races don't add up to what the Nationals pay. On the other hand I had a great time at Eriez Speedway Sunday, watching a monster show. It's like that every Sunday.I don't need a few $60,000 cars to entertain me.Just a good field of cars racing, that's all.

Like you said you could be wrong. Mercer upped our win to $1500 not $2000.

The purse above was the old payout except it was $3,600 to-win. The new $4,000 to-win payout adds $100 more per spot from 2-24.

The Grove is $14- $15 front gate, plus Lernerville pays out $21K - $22K total for all divisions, compared to the Groves $17,300 for sprints only. And the question becomes, why do western Pa sprints deserve that kind of money? If they could compete with the Grove contingent I would say yes, however most would struggle just to make the show.

The Grove also has 358's.I believe the 358 purse starts at $1000 to win.The Grove and Lernerville pay out a similar amount of money. If my health is good,I always make a regular show at the Grove at least once a year.We always stay in Dillsburg. On Saturday we go to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing at the Latimore Valley Fair Grounds in York Springs,Pa. It's just south of Dillsburg and well worth the trip. Try it!

The museum is awesome! We went there before the National Open a couple of years ago.

Uh, yeah, I don't know where to start here.

First of all, no where in my post did I say the Sprints would be the division to get a purse commensurate with what the Grove pays. Secondly, even though they are third favorite on my list of the top three divisions, the SLM's, out of fall divisions in this region have the quality, numbers and drawing power to command such a purse. It's a pipe dream anyway, because it will never happen.

It isn't just what the Grove pays versus our area's tracks. There are two other high paying 410 tracks out East/Central Pa. in Lincoln and Port Royal that pay great, with Selinsgrove hosting nice paying shows occasionally. It isn't just one track, it's a culture, like with Big Diamond and Grandview that pay Small Block Modifieds really well. And they all pack the fans in without a Goddamn Crate LM or E-mod to be seen anywhere.

If a track would pay more than average around here for 410's and increase it a little yearly, eventually they'd start to pull quality cars from Ohio and those that struggle in Central Pa. But, that's the White Elephant, isn't it? Why would a promoter stick his neck out around here when they make a nice profit with the crap that some of them run? That's the difference from Central Pa. to here. Those tracks sell the product. Most of our tracks sell endless divisions of cars going in a circle.

PA paid $4,000 you would get the same caliber cars as the grove gets. But, and I will add this if you compare the car owners vs the drivers/car owners from eastern to western pa you would see just about every car out east is owned by NOT the driver and its the excact oposite in w. pa. Out in E. PA they have tons of money to throw into there cars.
