How does this affect the local teams at Lernerville?
Goodyear was also the 'track' tire at Lernerville. And, not popular with most teams... LOL
A report on NSSN said that the WoO may consider an 'open' tire rule for next year...
Don't hold your breath... LOL
While open tire rules sound great to some, they can be a double-edged sword. Without controls, tire costs can be excessive, and make it tougher for the smaller teams to remain competitive. Will be interesting...

If they really, really want to make a tire rule that will help, then specify three different compounds, any manufacturer. This concept where a branded tire rule "saves racers money" is bullshit. It made Lernerville money, but that money never helped the guys that supported the place, did it? They added to the purse by shortening the field by four cars the first couple of seasons of the Goodyear rule, then they actually cut the purse this year. How did the big checks that Goodyear cut WRG help Lernerville's weekly racer's? "Unhook the cars" my ass.
I hope some of those teams saved their new old stock Hoosiers from three years ago, because they'll need them next year. And once again, AR is left out in the cold.

No, AR is not left out in the cold, because word on the street is American Racer will be the WoO tire (and by default, the tire at weekly 410 tracks too). And they're likely to be roughly the same cost as the Goodyears.

I can't believe that a company the size of Hoosier would be out bid by little old AR, if that's how the process works. I'll believe it when I see it.
Either way, alluding to what RR posted, they are likely losing any revenue they make up front at the back gate because of their retarded tire rules. In retrospect, it's probably all about getting the money guaranteed and upfront rather than having to depend on what they may or may not lose in pit fees.

Goodyear out of sprint tires, opening up sprints to open tires, Latemodel and Hoosier doesn't have a problem with it, will Fastrack follow?
Let the chemical wars begin!
You think tires were expensive, how much do you think will be added when chemistry rules tires and the winners circle. The future may be quickly approaching when it's either get on a tire program or get to the back.
With open tires, your going to not only see famous setup people in the pits, but likely new famous tire people in the pits.
You are so right! I raced with open tire rules. Early on we sucked. As we became better the tire companies came to us with 1/2 price deals. This meant the ones paying for the tires are the ones that were not as competitive. We also tested new compounds, sidewalls, and tread designs. This made us even better. Tire prices jumped 30% because of the tech cost. Tire wear was cut in half. In the mid 80's a right rear was $190. There was so many compounds and designs, that worked differently at different tracks. We had to have 35 - 40 tires mounted(cost of 40 wheels also) to race three nights a week.
Without a tire rule you will see speeds increase and wear decrease.
The tire rule came around and our tire bill went in half. We now needed 10 tires mounted with a RR at $120.00.
Oh yes tire rules are needed to keep the price down and keep the competition even.
Anyone who says different, hasn't lived it.

It's not that AR is outbidding Hoosier, it's that this is a convenient way to dead the never-ending frivolous unwinnable lawsuits from AR. Besides, to think AR can't play big boy games with sanctions is pretty ignorant. I mean, the USMTS uses an AR rule, and I gurandamntee there are more USMTS tracks and races out there than there are 410 tracks and races (and UMP races, for that matter, too).

Unless you have run many different tracks with an open rule, you don't get it!!
