Thanks for the economics lesson. The pits are $70 for a 2 day. If you are not attending the event due to price, it does exceed your price point, price has driven you away. Price drives all of us away from various things. I won't spend a hundred bucks to go to the opera, I will to go to a race. Someone skipping the races may go spend more than that on a fancy dinner, to each his own. Lowering price is not a guarantee of increasing profits, there are many variables. Your opinion is it would and we respect that. We do have the advantage of having the actual numbers for the last 23 PPMS seasons.
Maybe big regional events are becoming a thing of the past. Do folks really think racetracks are making a fortune? If so, why are the ones that have closed not being reopened by the next person that wants to make a fortune? Some have been, and they are closed again.
Here is the reality of it, it does cost a lot to put on the show, and a lot to attend it, and racing is expensive, but on the stud it gets blown way out of proportion. Someone said about 10,000 posts earlier (it's $10,000 to win by the way) how do you know what the show is worth before its run?
The combination of a $10,000 to win Super Late, $3000 to win Sprint, $3000 to win BRP, $2000 to win Crate, $1000 to win Sportsman has never been done at PPMS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME!
Would you pay $35 for the pits and $22.50 for the grandstands for a $5000 to win Super Late, $1500 to win Sprint, $1500 to win BRP, $1000 to win Crate, and $500 to win Sportman Show? If so double everything and you have the 2012 Five Star Pittsburgher!
Some regional race teams are going to experience the biggest win of their season and perhaps their career at the 24th consecutive running of the Pittsburgher!...with some fan support they will get to do it all over again in 2013! The beauty of this event is it provides an opportunity for the best of the best regional racers we watch week in and week out to duke it out and haul away all the loot! It feeds our weekly racing fix!
Think it all the way through! It benefits regional racing...and yes it needs to benefit the Speedway, so we can do it all over again next year at the Monster Playground!
WHAT ABOUT THE $30,000 BART HARTMAN WON A CPL YRS BACK THAT WAS THE ULTIMATE VS THE PITTSBURGHER I BELIEVE
...TO WIN BOTH RACES THERE WAS A $10,000 BONUS... ALSO DREW IN ALOT MORE CARS,WILL THAT EVER BE AN RACE OPTION AGAIN?
