Liberalism

Anybody who expects any kind of radical change from any president is deluded. Democrat, Republican, Liberal, Conservative... it doesn't really matter. People get behind who they get behind and that's completely normal and I don't knock anybody's choice, but neither candidate will have much effect on any real issues. The entire government is on a swing towards some socialist values, even the so-called conservatives (because there are no true conservatives with any real power) and it's pretty disturbing. They've managed to make everybody think there's some kind of inherent differences between the ideology of each candidate, but in reality, there really isn't.
As far as economic issues, the economy is cyclical. It has upswings and downswings, regardless of who is in office. It's been down for a while now and will soon recover some, regardless of who is in office. When it recovers, whoever is president will get most of the credit for the upswing, but it will have literally nothing to do with the president.
The current health care system is hopelessly broken. That's one thing I think everybody can agree on. Obamacare is a terrible solution. An unregulated system is a terrible solution. Eventually, a plan that works for most people will be put in place, and again, whoever is president at the time will get the credit, even they will have little to nothing to do with it.
The two examples I cited are how the political game is played. It's getting to the point where it's like professional wrasslin'. Everything is predetermined. Choose whichever candidate you want based on what you believe, but know, in the end, it doesn't really matter. The government does what the government does and we're just along for the ride.
Hey Bacon~
I hate getting sucked into these conversations but you actually had a line in there I believe is very true "there are no true conservatives with any real power, and it's pretty disturbing." I agree with that. Here's where we differ ~ so lets change that!! There are conservatives, and I think we are finally seeing there are people with more conservative views then even they realized when they now see the effects of true Liberalism. We have seen more people switch parties for this election then we've ever seen in a long long time. As people grow up too I think some find their values, family and country really have meaning and some make the change. Even a young Ronald Reagan was a Democrat. He hated communism, & socialism with a vegence and that's what made him switch parties. When he actually really got involved in politics and saw the difference in what direction each party wanted for our future he knew he was in the wrong place.
Your post bothers me though because you want the reader to believe there is nothing we can do to influence our destiny. Even if you did believe that we sure can slow down the direction we are headed. I wish I had a good analogy in racing terms but it would have to be something about the value in a good pair of brakes and taking your foot off the gas. These two candidates are not the same at all. One has an extreme business background taking several businesses from the brink of bankruptcy to being profitable. The best example being the Salt Lake Olympics which was completely riddled with all kinds of fraud and totally in the tank when he took it over and no one thought it could be saved. In a very short time he turned that whole mess around! So it can be done! We can and need to make a difference in this crtitical time ~ everybody please use your right to voice an opinion, Vote ~ Let's get America back, I miss it!

People have a misconception that voting for the president is actually going to do something, when the president is generally a pawn of the Congress and Senate. Capitol Hill is full of career politicians who have a serious disconnect from the realities of everyday Americans out there trying to make it. That's why I make the statement that two candidates are more similar than people know. The president has less power now than they have ever had, despite what most Americans think.
True political change has to happen from the bottom up. Not with the president, because, as I said, he is stuck with whatever Capitol Hill sends his way, which is way too drawn along party lines to get anything done. When one party comes up with something, the other automatically shoots it down, even if it makes sense.
We, as a people, have to vote out almost all the Reps and Senators who are the true problem and start anew with candidates who aren't in with the Washington bullshit and the special interest groups and lobbyists , who have known what regular civilian life is, and understand what the average American wants/needs. We, as a people get people with some actual sense and a willingness to work together for the greater good on Capitol Hill. You start there, then things can actually change and maybe, just maybe, we can eventually get a president who can enact the changes they promise, who will actually work for the people.
The American political system is broken. It's time to fix it. The president isn't the first step, though, and I wished more people realized it.

Agree with most of that.
I'd like to add though, on a scary note ~ Obama has passed more Executive Orders then all other Presidents combined and it's not a good thing! Many are very scary and they could not be passed by Congress or Senate for a reason. They said no so he just by passed them to push his own agenda. So Congress and Senate do serve a purpose but apparently of no use when you get a radical with an agenda doing whatever he wants.
Obama is just a pawn too. I doubt even he understands most of what he's passing. He gives great speeches, that's literally the only reason he was given the push to the presidency.
The changes have to come from the bottom, uncorrupted by the people who really run things in this country.

YIKES, now we disagree completely. He may be a pawn but not in the way you descibe. He has a huge agenda. He is very tightly associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, his entire background is grooming from radical mentors. He is a pawn for THEIR agenda and is no friend to America or Israel our close ally. You really should watch the movie 2016, the FOX channel is going to air it. First of all it is an interesting movie even if you aren't a fan of politics. A true thriller suspense actually that makes you want to know how it's going to end. The movie can't tell you that though because it is based on facts not speculation. Most of the movie is Obama actually reading his own words from his own autobiography. The movie takes you to the places he has lived and introduces you to his closest friends and family...and it is SCARY.
I couldn't help but reply but seriously I don't want to post anymore, let's be done.
You have to learn that FOX, as is any other major media outlet, is a lousy source of useful/truthful information. Everything is slanted one way or the other. The media, and their bankrolls do more to hurt the American people than any politician ever will.
But yes, we will have to agree to disagree. I do find it refreshing, though, that this was all very civil. Usually political discussions on forums are anything but civil.

So i'm a racist huh ? I voted for Alan Keys in the primarys against Bush #1. I live in Ohio and voted for Ken Blackwell for Governer a few years ago, did you ever hear of those guys ? Probably not. Oh yeh, there both black. Did i vote for Obama ? Heck no ! Nothing to do with his race just his policies. So keep drinkin the coolaid buddy !The most brilliant of political minds could not have fixed what was left in 2008 when the last Republican pres left office. Always blame the liberals for everything but who saved us when we were facing another depression that o buy the way a Republican president due to his hands off style of government put us in to begin with. Sounds like what happen in 1932 as well. The only thing they Bush and Chaney worried about was how much money they could carry out of the White house after two terms. And Paul Ryan looks like a little frat boy that should have a sweater tired around his neck with a polo shirt with the collar up. He is a puppet for John Boehner and the other Rep in office. The only reason why people do not like Obama is because he is black. Times have not changed all that much we are just better at hiding racism than in the past. I hope the American people wake up and realize that Romney does not care about middle America he only wants to deal with the rich and well born and when he makes comments its exactly that angle.

I would simply settle for a President who has actually read the Constitution. It is stupefyingly obvious that the sitting President has not read that document.
Also - your comment about health care is irrelevant. The concept of health care and health insurance is not addressed in the Constitution. Thusly, it is unconstitutional for the Federal government to pass laws related to this matter. Individual states are free to do as they wish on the topic, as Romney did in Massachusetts. I am not suggesting that RomneyCare in Massachusetts is good or bad, but simpling pointing out that it is a state matter - not a federal matter - and that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was fully within its authority to do so. If you are unhappy with Massachusetts' health care system, you are free to move to one of the other states, commonwealths or territories of the U.S.

Wow!Obama is a radical Muslim , radical Muslims make no secret of their desire to wipe western civilization off the map. The United States is western civilization and the Neanderthal throw back pieces of shit want to drag us 600 years back into the dark ages where they still reside. That one reason is the only one of the 1000000000 reasons that I have to not vote for Obama that I even need.

He stammered and stumbled everytime he was aked a question and the moderator even helped him at one point. The people of this country need to WAKE THE F*** UP!!!!

Your question, is this a joke ~ yes it was. It was sarcasim. He posted a pic of what was called the uss barack obama a military ship where all it was, was a luxury home and golf course because of all the many millions of dollars they have spend on vacations and for the fact he has spend more days in office playing golf then any Pres. before him. I do have to admit when I first saw his post I wondered if what he wrote was what he felt but looking at the picture AND seeing his other posts I knew it was a joke. He has posted pics of Carbo's NOBAMA car and because of him it has been downloaded almost 700 times! If people are posting those to FB and other social sites there is no way to track the shares from those shares etc but it must be in the thousands considering it's over 700 just on this site.

Davey has been a great ally for the conservative cause. He has posted pics of Carbo's NOBAMA car and because of him it has been downloaded almost 700 times which is awesome!!! You make some really good points sometimes and I agree it's VERY upsetting everything this admisnistration has going on but chill just a little because we need you voting come November. Speaking of voting though the fraud votes are being worked on in full force. What a huge disappointment for Pennsylvania that a local federal judge would step in to over ride the law requiring ID to vote. It's very clear the only reason such a thing would happen ~ yeah dirt I'm with you, I feel my blood pressure rising! (and that was not a joke!)
Nice try suz, the judge who postponed implementation of the law is a Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court judge, and he is also a Republican.

Sorry, I missed the pic, I usually pay no attention to the pics, because this site throws ads in random posts all the time.
Sorry, but, it's hard for me to "chill" when we are talking about our freedom. I know where you're coming from, and I try to stay civil, but, at the same time, the topic isn't something that I can casually discuss.
The voter ID thing is just plain ludacrus!!! In this day and age you can't live a normal life without ID, there is not 1 good reason to allow someone to vote without showing ID. Seniors have to have ID for medicaid and the poor have to have it for assistance. EVERYONE is capable of getting an ID.
I'll stop now, it's too early...LOL

You do need ID for many things, but not a photo ID with an expiration date.
