I have unfortunately been watching Limaland destroy itself since 2003. From the schedule never changing to the favoritism and the reign of such a cocky arrogant staff - they have finally reached that no turning back point of regaining their Hey-Day popularity in my opinion. They did have some good years in that 10 year rebuild period, until their heads got too big for their hats!!
So like the place or not a shorter race season will only hurt the fan who waits 7+ months or about 33 to 35 weeks a year to support a venue who could care less about the Grass roots Racing or that fan? They are looking more to the Glamorous world of Nascar these days, spending not only their Money, but their time and concentration there as well.
What a shame too- that place Had so much potential, Had it, and now Has it?
Just like most places we all work, there is always those few that just really needs to go, but somehow always remains and spoils it for the rest of us???
I quit going regularly last year, as I had never missed an event since 03, but really didn't miss it much at all? I have found a new home track as will other drivers, fans and sponsors! Just an Observation..........

I agree 100% ive heard thru the grape vine that they are loosing to much money in the last few weeks of the season because of area football. To me with as much money being thrown the way of nascar, other tracks, backing of heat races and other things and they are worried about loosing money?? Just sounds to me like they have a interest in some thing else going on.To me it was a 10 year hype and and now a fizzle. Thank god for the Doty, schedule a WoO race in august or a Allstar race and they wouldnt have to worry about fans the stands will fill up. Just funny how other tracks with less funding are running later in the season. Then with the amount of rain outs its gonna be a short season. #23Posted 28 January 2013 - 08:43 PM
I agree with the last 2 post, Limaland has killed itself. The "#1" man and his goons are ruining the track. They push the show along and then push the drivers out of the pit area afterwards so that they can go drink behind the stands. When I was little that was one of the greatest things about dirt track racing, spending time in the pit area with the drivers after the races were over and the limaland guys are constantly standing looking over your shoulder rushing you out.
Area football will take some fans but it wont kill the fan base. I would prefer to be at the track and get updates than go to a football game.

In the past I've been one of the first people to stand in line and cast stones. That said, I don't have much of anything to complain about. I am FAR from being a favorite there, and I was treated very fairly by the same people you guys are bitching about. The purse and points money is leaps and bounds better than anywhere else, the track prep was awesome all year, etc. I have seen some judgment calls on others I didn't really agree with, but I guess I am glad I am not the one making those calls either. The show was over most every night before 10pm.
So other than a shorter schedule, someone please explain how it is "ruined"? 5-10 years ago there were some legitimate complaints about track prep and treatment from the track personnel. I just don't see it that way anymore, it is MUCH improved.

Jarvis....what a prick. How dare he buy a track and take it from dump to state of the art facility? How dare he put together an awesome payout for weekly races and buy only the best safety equipment for the best safety team around? And then on top of that he brings back to lima the greatest show on dirt...the world of outlaws. Lets not forget his ego then had to put together a sweet points fund with gorgeous trophies for the top 15. Then the jerk goes and signs up with nascar and point fund gets stronger yet? This guy is destroying the famed 1/4 mile with so many fans coming out to see the awesome racing. Gone on are the days when i could sjow up and have nobody sitting around me in the stands. Now its cramped and my sponsors are saying they came out too and had a blast. Jarvis, what a jerk for destroying the place

Apparently your not understanding who most are referring to and thats good ole Bob Fricke. Jarvis has cleaned up limaland and its a great facility, but gone are also the days where 30 stocks showed up. hell the majority of the time there are no b mains in the stocks or sprints and sometimes not even in the mods. but go to Eldora (a lot harder on your car) and you will see 40-50 mods any night they race.....why???? because they dont have bob telling them "if ya dont like it dont come back" No one is saying that Limaland is not one of the nicest facilities around and no one is knocking 90% of what you said. Fricke is the numbnut that is running the place into the ground. And now ask yourself this question..... why is it when it seems to be staying warmer later into the year (late October it got called one weekend and then was warm the first 2 weeks of Nov) why is it when its staying warmer longer why is he shortening the schedule? wouldnt that be cause to expand the schedule? Why is it that a handful of years ago Limaland could easily run a b main in the stock division weekly but now they struggle to field enough cars for a full a main? It surely is not the facility cuz like you said its one of the nicest around. Safety crew is good but i am very hesitant on saying they are the best in the area? Im not trying to bash you or sound like a dick this is jmo but a lot of people share the same opinion. I am glad I found a different home track #28Posted 30 January 2013 - 09:08 AM
Actually bob told me at banquet he didn't want a shorter season. So maybe he got out voted I don't know. And as for favorites at least Lima techs cars, even if the process is far from thorough. And as for scoring Lima stated last yr that transponders will most likely be in effect for 2014. Look they ain't perfect and I have had my issues with bob before but whenever I did I went right to him and voiced the complaint. It's an awesome track and is far from destroyed. As for car counts actually stock counts were up last yr and some nights we had b mains.Limas low counts might be due to how tough all three classes are. Easily toughest field anywhere around here. I do agree the schedule could right thru September but not my call so pelier will see us in the fall

I don't think the season is going to be much, if any shorter from what I'm hearing.....I am hearing the schedule should be posted in the next week. Curious to whether any of you with problems with the leadership there have dealt with them in a professional matter? I had some issues/confusion at the beginning of 2012, and when approached in a professional matter the issue was resolved, and the people you're complaining about were happy to be helpful and resolve the issues fairly. It's not a perfect deal, I am not saying it is...but as far as my own division goes, Lima is definitely the best deal going.
#30Posted 03 February 2013 - 12:45 PM Finally someone has answered my question. Bob is who everyone is complaining about.(I see good and bad with him) Nice to see recent posts that are fairly true. I still don't believe there is on purpose favoritism but I understand how one could end up with those feelings. (a consistent front runner always gets the favorite tag) Lima is not perfect by any means but it is not the sheet hole many are trying to convey. Transponders would help with a lot of complaints. The end of year point money is the best there is, but still the weekly payout has fallen behind (after 1st place) compared to many other tracks. Racers need the weekly money to be able to keep racing. Overall, Lima will still get my weekly money but yes I would like to see improvements with my above statements.JMO Reply to this topic1 user(s) are reading this topic0 members, 1 guests, 0 anonymous users |
