Would a better solution perhaps be to run it on Sunday the 14th, starting at say 2:00 or 3:00? No one races of Sundays in April, and if you ever going to be able to get away with a mid-day race as far as track prep is concerned, April would be the time it could be done!

This makes way too much sense, Nick, so it will be roundly ignored.

I think Lernerville wants to run Saturday so they have Sunday for a raindate. As for running the last Saturday in March, that's a tough call because they'd be shitting on Mercer again, which traditionally runs its Chiller Thriller on that date.

Mercer will not run April 13th, 2013. Neither will PPMS or Sharon. You can talk all the bullshit you want, but at the end of the day, the folks who actually understand business will make the choices that matter, not some unprofessional hack who actually thinks he's something.

I'd hate to think we'd still be getting snowed on that late. Good chance of mud though. What Sparkler says makes the most sense, and if either Mercer or Sharon has tractor pulls or anything of that sort planned for that time of year, that weekend makes sense as a time to run it.

Oh please! Lernerville did not talk to any of the tracks they crapped on with this decision. They have no standing to dictate to anyone to cancel their races for Lernerville's exclusive benefit. You say they gave us 5 1/2 months notice, how many years notice have they had from tracks like Mercer, Sharon, Pittsburgh, to name a few of the affected tracks that we have been racing on Saturday for years. What Lernerville has done is isolate themselves from the majority of tracks in this area.

Maybe they needed the money to get their name out of the newspaper for not paying their taxes. I can see not refunding money that night it would have been administrative nightmare but why is there no mail in program for refunds? How many teams will not even be racing next year? How many pit bands will be lost?

I will tell you this, Mercer Raceway Park will not rollover and play dead for Lernerville We will race on April 13th. We are not alone in that decision, but I will let the other tracks speak for themselves as phone calls have already been exchanged.

Lernerville has totally put the drivers in a very bad spot, perhaps more than the tracks. Hopefully the drivers weigh their options and realize who has historically provided them with a Saturday night track all year long not just one night. Why didn't Lernerville reschedule on their Friday race night? It's not the responsibility of the majority the tracks to bail Lernerville out of their problems out especially when they said not one word to the affected tracks.

Maybe you should just stifle yourself and let the grown-ups work this out. How has Mr. Altman, who I think is a good guy, been so successful his whole life without you fighting his battles for him. Your childish, he took my toy attitude, reflects badly on the very organization that you are trying to defend. Just relax and see what happens.

Bottom line Mercer, Sharon, and Pittsburgh have been cooperarting. Look at the schedules from last year and you will see the rotating headline divisions for big races. This incident only gives them more incentive to work together. Mercer will be racing on April 13th and we are not alone. So you boys can hash it out here amongst yourself. Our position is set no need to repeat it any further.

Maybe that's the problem, PMS, Mercer ans Sharon. Not Lernerville? Has all three of the tracks mentioned, not run on different nights. Sharon on Fridays, Mercer on Friday and Sundays?

Sounds like the wolf is crying!

for the 50th time this is a minor event that should be more correctly named " back gate bonanza" get as many random rediculous divisons who are willing to race for nothing to pack the pits as full as possible. You guys act like this is lucas oil and the woo scheduling against the world 100!! Dude its no big deal !! The people went there to burn toxic shit and drink beer and they burned toxic shit and drank beer !! The race was just a bonus and it didnt happen no big deal. Tyler county on the other hand was supposed to have a huge race with a huge payout and shafted everyone !!! Frank Wilson you burned me out of $325.00 worth of pit passes and you never paid me the $150.00 tow money or the extra $100.00 for being top 5 in ufo points and you canceled the damn event when it didnt even rain . How is it that peope are making a huge deal about this bullshit event at lernerville and no one mentions tyler county ???

I agree! It's only $3000 to win each of the major divisions. Why would anyone support that? Especially the sprint cars! After all they guarantee 25 cars for $1500 to win!

Yeah, it is a minor event, not unlike 80% of the "specials" around here. Every show can't be The World 100 or The Knoxville Nationals. I get that.

I also get that it is a shameless back gate money grab. But, people seem to enjoy it, much as they enjoyed Fall Fest at Challenger. Who am I to argue that point? But, apparently Jack Lentz never did anything to offend the great and almighty Mike Dutko and the center of the dirt track racing universe, Mercer Raceway Park! There are never any problems there. Everything goes off without a hitch. They do everything right by everybody and by the book. If you don't believe it, ask Mike Dutko. Then ask him again after he gets fired to get another opinion. You can then surmise for yourself that the truth is somewhere in the middle.

The problem with this whole post is Mike Dutko. If one didn't know any better, one might suspect that he is a part owner, or a major sponsor or the promoter up there. No, none of that is true. He is just an announcer. An announcer with an almost pathological ability to insert his feelings and opinions into any conversation, especially those which needn't concern him. That pathology is what got him fired by the Martin/Roenigk ownership group at Lernerville. He'd have you people believe he didn't deserve to be let go, but I among many others, know better.

He poses as an official spokesperson for Bill Altman. I'd really like to know what Mr. Altman thinks of his behavior on here, if he indeed, is aware of it. What's the proof that he is a Charlatan?

He called out Matt Miley last year when PPMS scheduled a Sprint Car race opposite an MRP regular show, which feature the 410's Mike was outraged. I didn't think the scheduling was smart with out consulting with the promoters at MRP, but I'm in a position to post my opinions. It was a classless rant by Dutko, but that wasn't his first.

He injected his bloated view of his vast knowledge and high regard in area racing circles when he debated me over some rant I went on about WRG's ownership of Lernerville that included Gary Risch, Jr. He couldn't get on here fast enough to tell everyone that he "was welcome there anytime", and that he "thinks they are doing a great job".

His transparent and self-serving reasons for defending them were obvious. First, he wanted, in his own weird and self-righteous way, to show the people that fired him that the current GM and he were tight, that maybe they were more competent than the Martins, and surely" 'Ol Mike can't be that bad of a guy if their successors welcomed him here right? People think I'm swell, and they appreciate me". He also didn't want to spoil his chance at a free VIP pass and the opportunity to stuff his bulbous face to the gill with all the free eats and drinks he could grab. That was all fine and good then. Nothing was wrong with the track prep or event scheduling then. But, let WRG/Gary Risch, Jr. step on MRP's toes, well hell then, none of them are any damn good. You see, scheduling that race on a regular MRP night defecates on Mike's second home where he acts as if he runs the show. Cant have that.

Anyway, the point of all this is that Mike Dutko has absolutely zero credibility. All Mike Dutko is interested is whatever is in Mike Dutko's best interests.

Mike never had any ability to play racetrack politics. That's why he is no longer the announcer at Lernerville, and that's why I expect him not to be Mercer's announcer much longer. I can respect his desire not to be an ass kisser, but in some situations you have to kiss the right asses to save yourself a lot of trouble. At the very least you have to refrain from inserting your foot in your mouth, lest you piss off the wrong person unnecessarily, but Mike has obviously failed to learn that lesson.

There were only about 100 of us on here who knew there was a good chance that the weather would be nice today. There would have been a huge crowd there on a day like this in November!
