Anybody have any news on Thunder Valley??? I see nothing new on the website! Seems strange that the Promotor is not on the website telling you to send in your tailgate and pit spot money for the next year! On the Bedford site they allready have an opening date anounceed and a Banquet, and anounced a new division...... and are asking for tailgate and pit spot money for next season! So anybody know whats up?

Talked to Joe last week and he said they were still trying to negotiate with the owner for a lease in 2013.

Dingo would love to believe that but I'm pretty sure that his lease is already taken care of... pretty sure he signed a multi year lease before last year. I could be wrong but either way I don't think there's going to be racing at TVR next year, with the way this past season was I doubt it will be opened. An I think that the obvious lack of care so far towards the 2013 season shows that chances are slim. I just wanna know what the big secret is like why can't he make an announcement if he is running or if he isn't running.

Heard several things from some insiders this last weekend! Seems like Mr. Padula doesn't want to promote the track inless he gets new clay from the owner! And that isn't likely to happen! Also heard he is talking to another person that may be interested in joining in with him in the promotoion! Either way....doesn't look good!

Why is getting new clay a problem? Isn't the property sitting on a clay mine?

This is the announcement posted on the TVR website...... Thank you for Seven Years…. November 21st, 2012 We would like to thank all of the fans, drivers, and friends who have supported racing at Thunder Valley over the last seven years. In 2006, we took over a speedway that was closed and desolate and proceeded to revitalize it. During our tenure there we have been blessed with fantastic car counts and fantastic fan support each and every week. It has been a pleasure to dedicate myself to providing racing at Thunder Valley. While it is our greatest desire to continue to provide racing action in Somerset County for many years to come, we are restricted by certain realities. It seems that every year the track has been hampered with increasingly more and more obstacles, things that should not be an issue, but are. And they have made it very difficult to keep the track in operation. As time has passed, the struggle to keep the track open has become progressively more difficult. Finally the issues we have long fought have become too great for us to continue. In order to keep the track alive the last several years we have had to operate in less than ideal conditions. Looking forward to the oncoming racing season, we have reached a point where we can no longer operate the speedway at the level that our racers and fans deserve. We have done the best we can under the circumstances but can do it no longer. We have been in contact with several parties interested in promoting racing at the speedway. As such, we are confident that someone will open the track for racing next season. We wish them the best, and look forward to doing everything possible to help them be successful. Anyone interested in promoting a racetrack that is profitable every year, contact the landlord. We would like to say a special thanks to the incredible group of people who have worked so hard to keep racing alive in Somerset County the last several years. It hasn’t been easy, but your devotion to the cause made it possible to go racing. And finally we would like to thank Mr. Will, who loved this track so much. With every passing day, I miss him a little more. Thank you for 7 years- Joe

Not much of a surprise! I guess anything is better than nothing at all! With that being said....TVR was down to about "Nothing at all" surface wise! Will be interesting to see if any of the want to be promotors now come forward! Sometimes change is for the better and sometimes not! As My Attorney allways says...."Watch what you wish for...you just may get it!" And I must say that truthfully I for one was wishing for a promotor that would run a full season(Existing..New??) Even Marion Center and Dog Hollow can run full seasons with latemodel racing every night so drivers and Fans can make thier racing Plans! The last several years..it seemed like TVR ran less and less! Creative scheduling????? Or just trying for a sure thing????? Either way it didn't work for fans or drivers oviously! Sure hope it doesn't end up like the track up the highway!
