cheating is #1 reason and lack of teching, people all spending tons of money just to win a few bucks.these guys start in the back and are up front in a couple of laps, basicly stealing money from all you other guys that are not cheating.level the playing ground and drivers will come back.just my opinion

When you keep opening up the rules and increasing the costs to be competitive your going to lose cars. Then, they do a horrible job of teching as well and add in some favortism and bam! Terrible car counts. I like the watching the class and think its a good lower scale class but it is becoming too expensive.

As far as the sprints, they didn't necessarily ruin the track. It was awful to begin with all season. There would be a small layer of clay (maybe) but that would be gone after the first few heat laps regardless of who ran first.

Help me out PS drivers. Why can't we get a good field of cars at DHS? Is it the tire costs cuz there was not a good surface each week or something else? We are gettin a new surface for 2013 to curb those costs. I can recall in 08 the lowest car count we had was 35 cars. In 2011 there were nights we didnt have 8 cars. The payoff is not bad compared to other local tracks. i am sure not the promotor but i would like to know the reason we dont get more cars in PS as would the promotor. I fear our beloved sport is going to go by the wayside without some input from the competeitors and the fans. We as competetiors need to be concerned the tracks are making some money or we wont have places to race and our equipment and cars will be big White Elephants.

I really like Dog Hollow and I think Jim is trying to make changes for the better. In my opinion it comes down to one thing. Rules. You have to make reasonable rules and more importantly you have to enforce them. You cant pick and choose what rules to enforce. Over the last several years the rules have become looser. Allowing high performance heads bowtie intakes, 9in fords, aluminum bodies, bigger cams. This did not make racing more fun or exciting. It did make it significantly more expensive. There is always a handful of guys who have the money or already have the parts on their car that lobby to open the rules. They seem to be the ones who get heard. The fact is that when it takes almost as much money as guys have into a crate late model to be competitive and cheaters can still go screaming past you it just doesn't attract new cars. I really hope this trend changes for the good a division on its last leg.

exactly how hard is it to pump a motor or pull a valve cover, it takes a total of maybe 10 mins. Or even crawl under the car and look at the clutch/fly wheel none of the teching process is extremely difficult. A little bit of effort will go a long way in the case of the pure stocks

I guess he might have to go somewhere that has a little bit of competition like AMP, Thunder Mtn, or Marion center. pretty easy to be a cherry picker at Dog Hollow.

before i even ever thought about racing i went to the track and saw the same thing i see everyone complaining about. certain people winning. certain people that come from last to first.. the name calling the drama.. that WILL NEVER CHANGE!! people will do what they need to do to win. if anyone is to blame its the track 20 years ago by not sticking to the rules. if u are new to racing and u wanna win u gotta put the money in ur car. every class is way out of control. all the way from the 4 bangers to the late models.. how is it that certain crate cars are 2x faster than most of the others on the staight aways.. and dont say setup. how hard is it to buy seals. they are everywhere. jim wants to cut costs with the purestocks to make it " priced" right to race. however to buy manifolds then get a exhaust bent costs more than a set of headers. and to buy a good carb is a joke. the quads never work. so u keep looking for a good carb. MCS says any single feel vaccum feed carb. done.. MCS doesnt have a problem pulling in good car counts. and NO u dont pump a damn engine in 10 min. if u do.. it aint gonna be right.. but hey. im also a " cheater" so what do i know. there is no such thing as driving skill or car setup. so take it as u want. racing will be lucky to be around in 5 years. enjoy it while it lasts.. happy holidays

a crate engine would be cheaper than 90% of all the peoples engines they got now. at the meeting today everyone there agreed they had 5 grand in there engine.. whats a 602 cost? 3800?? and its complete. that will never happen but it sure would level out the playing field

If they are going to have rules they need to tech. And by tech they should have all cars come (if they can) for practice and check everything then before the season. Then tech randomnly each week. Also, I believe Challenger would check stuff before you would even pull in to the track. Bottom Line. TECH! Find someone who can actually tech and does not have an affiliation with the drivers.

If you want to make rules more fair with the rules you have, I would say start creating separate weight packages for different engines, manifolds, cams etc.. The track needs to provide cheaper yet competitive alternatives. Maybe a 602 could be an alternative. I have seen complete used 602 engines go for around 2000-2500.

TheLegend is right though about the economy. The combination of the economic downturn and the rising price of being competitive does not mesh well.

That's true, to a degree. But, the out of control rules, i.e, what tracks will allow has been trending to where we are today for decades. Through both slow and prosperous economic times. Tracks will bend rules to keep three cars, but in the end, whether it's two or three years down the road, they end up losing ten. As these promoters do too many times, they step over a hundred bucks to pick up twenty-five.

I wouldn't worry about who he is referring to...he is the biggest cry baby at DH and doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground, just sayin'
