My 2 cents in it for what it matters. Cut back to 4 class,s that would open up the pits to more room and you wouldnt have to touch the kart track. It would cut back on late night shows, the 2 class,s that dont run they would be on the schedule for the next week. I know they wanted to give the trucks a week or two off to give the racer more time for repairs and make it easier on the billfold. You would still have 6 class,s of cars but it would be hard to work out schedule that wouldnt hurt stocks and mods when Eldora runs. To me even 5 class,s running is to much for one night and would give more time for track prep. The extra time would allow for the track to give feature runners more than 2 laps to fix a flat cutting out all the extra work for a area to fix a flat. Its easier for a crew to have a car stop at their pit to change a tire than have a crew run back to their pits grab a tire then run to in front of the stands to change a tire. As far as i feel about people in the pits they need to be more aware of where they are and while a feature is running to stay out of the middle of the pits to allow for cars to come down thru there. People have to be more liable for their actions while being in the pits plain and simple. Parents have to be liable for their kids running around the pits its their job to watch them not the track. I have nothing in this but being around racing for a few years. Just my opinion on some of it, we all know WRP is a low budget track with some great racing you dont need to do all the extra work just to make things better just make some cuts on class,s and use the extra time in a wisely manner. I know the idea of 6 class,s of cars running is to bring in as much extra cash into the track on a given night but does it also hurt the number of fans in the stands because of a late night show. Just my opinion on some of it.

Heres the problem with 6 classes, it costs Waynesfield more in payout that about it. I think the latest we got out of there was 11:30 maybe? The last show took the trucks leaving at almost 1am, and that was 4 divisions. I dont come to the races to be there from 7-9 and say cool time to go home. Im there to be there from 7-11,12, even 1am. 6 classes offers alot of racing, especially for a 12 dollar ticket. Tell me anywhere in the United States where you can see 6 divisions of racing for 12 bucks. Its an awesome bang for the buck, and I have several onboard camera videos where my feature is on the track in daylight. Im not there for that, Im not there to be slammed through, but an efficient show is nice. Honestly what does an 8 car field of compacts and stocks add to the night? 20 minutes? So instead of your 10pm your leaving at, your now out at 9:40. Waynesfield is a racers track, you offer 6 divisions, and the divisions in questions to rotate are not adding alot of time. Keep 6, and go with it. One night all these guys who want less divisions and want to leave by 830, will complain that they dont have time to fix their stuff.

Playing devil's advocate and being at risk of sounding like a dick, I'll say what some are probably thinking. The pits are a WORK AREA. I am not insensitive to handicapped people's needs at all, but I also don't think there needs to be a handicapped area in the pits either, as again it is a work area. If one can make it through the boulder stone that is in the pits, I don't understand the issues they may be having getting around in other areas. If features starting at 10pm isn't reasonable for others needs, or family members don't want to be out past 10pm, maybe a daytime family activity might be better suited for the gang. Fremont runs 3 divisions, as does Eldora.....both of those tracks regularly run as late as Waynesfield. It's an evening/night activity. I am in one of the divisions that suffers in car counts, and I am sure my division will be one of the ones "in rotation" or just simply have less dates on the schedule. It sucks, but I understand and thank them for keeping us in any capacity. The fast stocks from Lima pretty much all come except Anderson, college cars, and sometimes Conover. Where the counts are lacking are some of the mid pack cars. I don't know why they don't come, I wish they would. I hate seeing people rooting for the track to drop divisions when the night is already over at 11:15pm. So no problem there. Can't blame the division count for the dry tracks when it is blackening in hotlaps. I don't know what the answer is, but the core guys there are there EVERY week, and voting them off the island for no real good reason is kind of bullshit. If you bought a big trailer that wont fit what your normal findings for pit spaces are, that was a pretty bad decision on your own part. Why would you expect people who have been paying for the same spots for several years to give them up and move since someone who bought too big of a trailer and can no longer fit where they usually parked? Some great suggestions here for sure, but some pretty dumb shit posted too. No sense in bitching about stuff that is irrelevant or most likely your own poor planning.

I agree with Dirtracer48 on that trailer topic. Cutting classes is a bad idea though and i have explained why before. The pit lane in front of the grandstands is prolly the best idea. And Skip some crews (mine included) would prolly just bring a tire and jack up to the area just in case. This way if I get a flat they are right there ready to go.

One thing that WRP doesnt need right now is spending money to change things. Any one who has run this track has not made a killing off of it. Greg said a couple of yrs ago that he wasnt making money off the track but his only profit was from the food. Any kind of improvements need to be done in scheduling and getting fans and cars to show. I have worked for Greg, Cub, and Dean and knew the hardships that they were going thru every week. I know Cub and Dean took a hit to their pocket books. This is a great facility and the racing is just as good as any other tracks. I have heard a lot a talk from fans and drivers and crews working that gate. I loved all the class,s but also heard sayings that this class is as boring as watching paint dry. and its time for me to take a break along with other comments. Every class out their even the compacs they feel their car is just as important to them as some one with a big money sprint car. Every driver out there is having just as much fun as some of the big money cars. But if you also watch as some features are over some fans start to leave. They are missing out on great racing and it is there loss by leaving. By having 2 support divisions at the end of the night might be the reason for some fans get bored and leave. A true fan would stay for all the shows. I have also heard comments this isnt kart racing where you have several class,s. Maybe some are not worried about late night racing but some dont like the late night, But all the times i worked they were done in a good time. To many people coming into racing now are spoiled by some of the nicer places like Eldora and Lima and expect the same at some of their local tracks. Any one that has been around long enough know that Lima and Eldora were not as nice as what WRP has now When they opened. I can remember walking thru pits and the mud would suck your shoes off. Lima and Eldora have the money to do about what ever they want to do. It took yrs in the making to be what they are now and some are asking for improvements that Greg has to reach deep into his pockets to do it. My comments are not directed towards any certain class or person , but just my view on it. I commend Dan for doing what he is doing and i think he has had plenty of sleepless nights thinking about what he can do to make WRP a track that will be around for more yrs to come. Greg has stuck his neck out about every yr wondering if he will have to dig into his bank account to keep it going. Like i was saying my comments are not towards any one person or class of cars. Its nice to hear every ones view about what ideas they have and ways to improve the track. Some might think that for 12 bucks and 6 class,s makes for a great show. Yes but there proably a lot who would not think so.Maybe WRP needs to put a suggestion box out for comments like Lima did a few yrs ago asking for things they would like to see done or change.

I am in no way shape or form trying to be a dick either Skip lol But IMO if you dont wanna be at the track late then dont be, no one is stopping people from watching the sprints and then getting up and leaving. The people that are leaving are not the fans that are going to go down into the pits and hang out for a while after the show anyway. Having a track that runs 6 classes in our own backyard is, IMO, amazing and i love that Greg will do this. I dont care if one class only has 8 cars show up, those 8 guys put their hard earned money into building their race car just like everyone else and I dont think it would be right for the track they call home to yank them out of the lineups because some people wanna be home and in bed by 10pm. As for the money spending thing, everyone knows in motorsports you have to spend more money to make more money. The word about WRP is getting out and the track is growing in popularity, I raced my first ever race there this past season and my mom had not been to a race track since her and my dad split 15 years ago but she loved every second of WRP. Once people get there they love it and they come back. But with a growing in popularity race track comes the growing of the facility. Every single one of us on this website have watched different forms of sprints or any other form of a race car run at WRP and we can all agree on one thing, the racing is second to none. If the facility grows some and Greg talked to the World of Outlaws I could almost guarantee they would come run WRP. And as much as we love the local racing product getting the Outlaws to come to your track is second to none when owning a dirt track. The things Dan is talking about doing is really just simple maintenance work, its not really anything that is going to empty Gregs bank account, until you bring the stones in. But like I said before wait on bringing the stones in just leave part of the pit area grass for right now. Making the pit lane in front of the grandstands will take nothing but hard work, not really any money. WRP is an amazing race track and I am proud to say that I ran my first race there. This track is on an upward trend when it comes to popularity and im telling you if you put some money into it right now that money will be back in your pockets in the very near future. Just ask any of the guys that race the Jack Hewitt Classic all those USAC guys love that track. All Star Speedweek same deal there. 360s exact same thing. WRP is succeeding and they are doing something that most people woudl not have thought would work in Ohio and thats running a weekly non wing show.

At the risk of sounding like a " dick " I wasn't advocating or asking for my fiance to have a handicap seat . We come to race and it just so happens she broke her anknle and was on crutches and then a walking boot . She helps me do tigs with my truck normally . But there are OTHER people there that are up in years and come to the races with someone that drives . spmeone on portable oxygen or using a walker and rides with a driver to the track so they don,t have 2 cars for 4 people should have a handicap area similar to the one on the main grandstand sides . If they are handicapped the will not want to be milling around the pits or should I park my truck .... walk to the main entrance out to the car which she had to drive so she had access to a handicap seat .... hel her get to her seat then walk back to the back 40 in the pits and unload ... Would rather have a handicap seating area than have a few ( several actually ) drunk that rode or got acess to the pits step or stumble out in fron of a racecar or truck ( as happened 4 times last year I know of ) .

i would like to see things continue as they have been as far as the track and classes. i feel that if the track continues things, with consistancy, that car counts will grow because people will see they can build something to run in a certain class and know they will always have place to run it. as far as a fan perspective goes, before i raced i wanted to go to waynesfield BECAUSE they ran 6 classes, and i love dirt track racing period.

As I've stated before we appreciate everyones comments and suggestions and as long as they stay productive we listen. Once it crosses the line of being hateful then don't. So far it's all been productive suggestions and that is what we appreciate about all you fans, drivers and teams. We think about this place non stop and work hard to come up with mixtures that work. It's a very tough job but it's a job that I enjoy very much. I love interacting with other people that love to race. There are tough decisions that sometimes we have to make for strictly business reasons and they aren't popular but at the end of the day we have to do what will keep WRP heading in the right direction. I know it's very easy for everyone to say "The stands were full for your speedweek show so I know you made big profits". Well the truth be told we broke even on that show. We spend quite a bit on advertising and sanctioning fees. The bigger shows aren't cheap but sure are exciting. We are ok with breaking even but just dont want people to think we stockpiled money on that show. Now there are some things we need to imporve upon in order to make that a profitable event. We need to obtain good sponsorship just as all of you racers do. This year we are going to make a better effort of getting more sponsorship. As you all know that is probably the toughest job out there even worse than any physical job that you can think of. However it's something that keeps the doors open. So if you see a sign or a banner at the track this year please thank that business for helping to improve the facility that you race at and support yourself. We do the same for all of you racers, anytime I visit one of your sponsors I always thank them for supporting you. Thanks for the support and we will continue to work hard for the racing community.
