The lease thing was a false rumor.

Well by the track flagman on another post a few weeks back, he said the track had not been leased. I'm just going by what he posted.

the word I got is the track will be operated for 4 weeks, Sunday night in a joint week-end wtih AMP; the races ran will be the same as Saturday night and a point fund for the 8 shows at the end. This came from a person that would know and I believe is true. We'll see. happy new year all.

Until they get owners or a leasee interested in actually running the place, I doubt this will happen. How can you get a committment from drivers or fans to come to your track regularly when its hit and miss whether you run or not each year. The sad thing is, I talk to many people who have been to this track to race or watch over the years and when I ask whats happening with it, they roll their eyes and laugh. Its a damn shame.

then tell him to grow a set and run it, not just let it sit there and waste away...it's a damn shame what he is doing to that place...so much potential and he is just pissing it away

Personally, I think its going to be a lot tougher to get this place back running now Americas Motorsports Park will be running. Too many tracks in a close proximity and TMs record of continuity isn't exactly outstanding. plus they dont exactly have anyones confidence. Another one bites the dust.

There is a lot more involved in operating a track besides "growing a set." Especially when the funds come out of your own pocket to pay the purse if you don't cover it at the gates. I really doubt they had many nights running weekly that they made any profit the last couple years. While the racing was good, car counts were low, and the nights I was there, the fan count was low, with the exception of the sprint shows, and the memorial race for the steel blocks. I didn't make it up for either of the races this past season, but maybe that is the future of the track, specials only a few races a year. The only thing I see as a downside to that is the lack of seating. The lawn chair area helps, but the place doesn't currently have the seating capacity to support a high paying special.

what would Amp opening have anything to do with? Thunder Mnt was a Friday nite track. There would be new promoters operating the track so you couldnt base their "record" on the past..Will probably never happen but i think the place could be ran and get good car counts if the right classes were ran..SPRINT cars.., They packed the place with fans and had decent car counts..I know just a dream but would like to see 410 sprints, small blockmods, street stocks,270 microsprints, and fwds ran on a weekly friday nite at thundermountian

i agree that the sprints packed the place but most of them were not local so my question would be do you think they could draw a good field week after week??
