them payouts are ludicrous ! 27 car field, 125 to start and 14th pays 200.
a tour race at Sharon that's 2000 to win is 200 just to start.
I sure hope this isn't a reflection on how payouts are going to be for rush.

Show me a racer thats in this sport to make money or even break even.If that was the outlook that most racers had, then there wouldnt be much racing going on.Two easy solutions for you guys complaining about payouts.1. If you dont like the payout somewhere...DONT GO! 2.For everyone that complains about tracks, promoters and series....START YOUR OWN!
You guys payout 1000.00 to win...600 for second...200 to start every week.Let me no when the series starts so i can see how it goes.

So you are complaining about people complaining? Ironic lol. I can show dozens of racers in this sport trying to break even. Saying that most racers don't want to make money or break even is the dumbest statement I've ever read on this site. So by your reasoning every racer is out to lose money??? I never once raced hoping to not at least break even. Must be you have unlimited supply of money to fund your racing. I'd bet at least 50% of competitors in every division (besides the large touring divisions) worry about breaking even. Nobody races specifically to lose money. People have a right to complain about payouts. Have you never thought you don't make enough at your day job??? Well does that mean you just start your own business because you don't like the pay? Or maybe you just shouldn't go to work cuz you aren't paid enough??? Too bad people have an opinion you dont agree with. Something for you. If you don't like the complaining on racestud don't come on here and read the posts.

Yup I'm a dick!!!

I am sure that someone held a gun to all those guys heads that went down there to race and said they had to do it!! Right!! Racers are racers and they will race even if it is just for a trophy. I agree wit 46gasman if anyone thinks they are in racing to make money it is time to wake up and smell the roses.

All I was saying is team travel all that way to race for $2,000! Sure you get a head start but there is no way in hell your going to break even going to florida.

Wanna make a Small Fortune in Racing ? .... START WITH A BIG ONE ! :)
And Good Luck to Mike Pegher and Geisler and any other locals who have the ability to get there and compete! They got big shoes to fill being related to Travis the World Champ !

No people are not in racing to make money. But I don't know anybody thats racing to lose money either. Do you? Already said earlier if guys can afford to haul to Florida they pry don't care what the payouts are. But as an outsider looking in I agree payouts are garbage. The payouts are bad at almost every track nowadays this is just the way of racing today. Costs have gone up tenfold and pay has barely moved in 15-20 years. Guys that choose to support tracks should at least be compensated for their work... Racing is a business for anyone who has a car. People fail to forget these payouts are wages being paid for their work at the track i.e. Racing.... So for guys to want to be paid more to work what is wrong with that? Again would you go to your day job for peanuts? No granted this isn't a full time job for most but nobody wants to pay to do this for the promoters to make money and get jack in return. Yes racing is all about the exhilaration but most racers would like a little bit in return for their hard work and support of any given racing facility

Yup I'm a dick!!!

well, i',ve had a car for 15 years, and i've spent between 10,000 lowest, to 30,000 highest....... so average 20,000 x 15 years, and i've pent 300,000 bucks....never once really regretted any of it. it's what keeps me young, and going.... i love it, and that is all that really matters...get 1/3 back, so i can still race....

nobody is in local racing to make money, it is sure nice though to be able to replace a tire or compensate for fuel though ,Especially when they are 40 lap races. I just would of thought the pay would of been better for a premier event like that . This is why local racing car counts are down today, payouts have stalled and cost went up!
1. I don't go to races I feel the payout is ludicrous ! 2. I'm not complaining about any tracks , promoters , series , just stating my opinion on the low payouts of a event.
and 3. if you don't like my opinion...DONT READ!

Dude I spend more than 125 on a bar tab ... Clearly the lack of reasonable pay outs has not prevented me from racing .. I think a race like tht all the way in flordia shout be in the 250-300 range to start ... I guess a bunch of people agreed with me as they only had 26 cars at eastbay ...

If you watch any of the videos of the crate races at Ocala, the bleachers are empty. They were lucky to get paid that much! If a division isn't attracting fans, then it's a back-gate division. They are still cheaper to race than a Super Late Model.

No doubt , a crate is 5k and a top flight super engine is 40k with 9 k rebuilds and a super runs 1000 laps on rebuilds and I hear guys are running crates 3-4k laps !!

How much are the crates with all the goodies that certain tech inspectors sell?

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

Absolutley correct! A Back Gate Promotors division that only the Uncles... Cousins... Brothers... Sister...Neighbors and Grandpoarents come to watch! But unfortuniatley what latemodel racing is comming to! I won't be participating anytime soon!

"$125 to start a race in Florida is rediculous" Not if the driver lives in Florida!!! No one is forcing drivers from western PA or elsewhere to go to Florida to race!! They are going because they want to race!! And to them racing is fun!! Granted the purses have not gone up like the costs of racing a car!! But that is not ALL the promoters fault!! Race tems keep spending more and more money trying to win and that raises the cost, making the bottom line worse than ever. And the crowds are not good, especially with the bad economy. The sport has major problems and there is more than enough "blame" to go around!!! Walt

Thru the use of our magical time machine we are going to bring back the promoters of old. Or maybe there here and we just don't see them. Maybe they are out on the track on the grader. Maybe they are in the ticket booth selling tickets. Maybe they are in the refreshment stand taking orders and calling the customers by name. Maybe they have the families of the drivers selling their shirts and such up by the grandstand on those special nights. Maybe we see the promoter giving a lift to the elderly mother of a race car driver to the pits on his golf cart without being asked. Maybe we see them working with other promoters so we don't have to decide which special to go to. Maybe we see everyone paying the same pit fees. Maybe we see 50, 60 or 100 different drivers in different divisions in one season. Maybe we pay a little more for something because it's special. Maybe our loyalty is rewarded with a discount card or something else. Maybe we are dealing with a promoter. Maybe we're not. You'll know when you see them.

The promoters are more to blame than your giving credit for . You can't blame the racers for a race track failing to produce fans and more than you can blame the customers for not liking the food at a restaurant. Eldora operates in the same United States economy as any other track , it doesn't have a major metropolitan area in close proximity yet it generates fans and race cars that create at atmosphere that IS the Super Bowl of dirt late model racing. The promoter creates that !!! The racers don't make biased judgement calls and refuse to enforce rules , that's the promoters ..
